3.5 stars. I liked this bakery, I wasn't crazy about it, but maybe I would stop by again when in the area. The ambiance isn't too exciting, a small bakery with only a few items for display and a large drink menu in the bank. There are three small tables and occasionally there is outdoor seating. Prices are very cheap compared to others in the area. I got an Oreo muffin, which was a bit bland, but very fluffy. The Oreo should have been mixed with the batter and not on top. I ordered a croissant, which was flaky, not too buttery, but it definitely needed a bit more flavor. It was a nice size. Their bagels are freshly made and they are almost as good as a successful bagel store. Their apple strudel was amazing, sweet, really good. Overall, not my favorite bakery, but I sure would like to try it again. read more

Great bakery; for Italian and Greek pastries. The Usual Queens pastry staples. And frappes! Famous for: Apple Cheese Pie turnover thingie. The Sweet Cream empanadas or turnovers or Kalitsounia. This is their signature nobody else makes these. The filling is amazing the outside crispy with crystallized sugar. ASK for them they sell out all the ones they display but there's always a batch in the kitchen cooling off. And warm them up I warm everything up that's baked; especially if there's butter in it. My Columbian friend said "THIS is not an Empanada." So if you're Latino call it something else I guess? She still loves them, EVERYBODY DOES. Bring a box and you're an instant hit at the holiday event gathering or just thank you coworkers bring to work. They're open really early for breakfast for tiropita and frappe or bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and everything in between so you can buy a box at 630am and it's way better to reward your coworkers then nasty dozen Dunkin' Donuts a block down. Everything here is decadent and delicious. Don't forget they're Greek so they have ALL your Greek holidays handled. Open Easter Morning! Both Easter's, the Greek one AND the Heathen one for all you Xeni! With Greek pasty cookie prewrapped platters so Greeks who feel obligated to bring stuff to your holiday you don't have to trek to astoria or down to northern to Bucky the Beaver's. I was on my way to pick up my breakfast sandwich at McDonalds and realized I didn't order the coffee. So I bumped into this place. It's only ONE dollar.... Then I was attracted by the nicely looking cookies.. also the cashier never gave me attitude or something even I ordered just a cup of coffee.. so i ended up spending a "few" more cookies... they are tasty and not pricy but i guess they need to spend more on advertising..... read more

always been tempted to try one of their cold drinks... but now it's too cold. ignore the calories. their cheesecake is way better than juniors because it's not overly sweet. and carrot cake - also the best ever. i've saved a slice for a week just to savor the taste. I recently stopped by this place to try out them out and I was disappointed. First I had the spinach pie which was very grainy and hard like rocks! (i was surprised because I heard they were suppose to be de-lish!) Then when I tried ordering a wrap, the man who took my order seemed to be bothered by making what I wanted and kept insisting that I ordered the chicken dijon wrap even though i kept telling him I hate mustard! (how rude) After speaking with my friends about this, they told me how everytime they eat from this place, although the food is good they ALWAYS make mistakes!! I don't know if I feel like dealing with all the hassle when theres other places just as good- or even better ! read more

I can really only comment on their cakes. I am not really a fan of birthday cakes, I don't like spongy cakes, I don't know I'm weird. Their cakes have always been good from the small amount of them that I actually eat. They always taste fresh and are willing to make different orders if you order it in advance. I have had their strawberry shortcake, a cake that had chocolate and vanilla mousse and fresh strawberries and bananas, and a caramel cake. The caramel cake was very tasty and my dad greatly enjoyed it for his birthday. The only other thing I have had from here was a few cookies, they were average, nothing spectacular. I want to go and try their drinks and food so I can comment on those as well. read more

I use to work next door at the pizzeria for many years on and off and would get coffee every evening at this place to end off my day, not just saying this as an old compadre but the food here is very good and they have great service, the owner is a great guy as well as the employees who work there, most of them have been working there for over 15 years! A friend of mine brought dessert for a dinner party get together we had. She brought amazing dessert empanadas!! A must try. They have just the right amount of sweetness; leaving you not being able to eat just one. I'm hooked and will definitely make Aphrodite's my go to place for some dessert empanadas. This is the most consistent bakery in East Queens. This is a Greek bakery which means the treats are a tad more sweet than those of it's counterparts such as Italian bakeries in the area. I love the cannolis, tiny ricotta empandas, and pretty much everything in the bakery. You will love the food here. read more

Just stopped by here today and tried a few different things. First of all, you have to get the iced frappe - I get it light and sweet and it was perfect - still strong enough to get that coffee fix. We also had the chocolate mousse, spanakopita and tricolor cookies (my fave) and all were very good. Not to mention, the service was quick and friendly! I used to go here all the time. They had a nice young man behind the counter who made the best frappe was so sweet and nice . Remembered my name after the first visit. Spanakopita and Tiropita was always fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Jordan, the owner, is the reason I no longer go. I have never met anyone so miserable in my life. He used to be so nice and friendly but now he is just plain miserable. He makes it like you are lucky to have him serve you and be in his presence. Plus, last two times I bought cake slices they were stale. Dry stale. If old Jordan ever returns I'll try it again. If its the same miserable atmosphere I'll go to Victory Sweet Shop or Artopolis. read more

My husband and I have been going here for 8 years. We moved to Connecticut and drive down to get what we call "crack" or "empanadas" everything here is delicious and Jordan is very friendly and great to talk to. Warning!!!! The cheese empanadas are highly addictive and are also known as " crack pillows" they are heavenly in every way. My brother in-law coined this name and after one you'll want another and another. I wanted an iced latte, and thought I would get one here instead of a chain place. I live a few blocks away and have been here before. Today, however, I was appalled at the poor service. The woman behind the counter barely stopped her conversation with a man who was leaning all over the counters, and appeared to have left a cup of water and a cup of iced coffee on the counter right in front of the small area for customers to order and pay. She took my order and they resumed their conversation, as if I was interrupting them. I received no attention or pleasantries, and was not even given a napkin. It was as if i did not exist. There are two sides to this place. It is half bakery and half wrap shop. The sweets are good. Not anything to pilgrimage for, but if you're near by it is worth the stop. The wraps are good. They are made fresh which is really nice. I also suggest parking on the side streets because the near by parking enforcement agent(s) are like hawks. read more
