01/09/26- Needed smog for two of my vehicles (2002 Lancer and 2010 Traverse) and waited until Andy is back after a few days of his shop being closed last December. Despite of some days that his shop was closed, during that time- he still managed to update his hours via yelp and google plus he answers phone calls. I was not left wondering as to why. Greeted upon arrival and same excellent service after years of coming here. I see how he treats his customers, new or old coming by. He can get busy at times, but the quality of service never fails. Just let Andy know as soon as you arrive, so that he can tell you your place in line and estimated wait time. Still the best price around here. He meticulously inspects, does the smog test and never complacent. Very respectful and calm. Guess who won for the 2025 Voted Best Smog Station in Solano County? None other than AO Smog. He may not get the 2023 and 2024 1st place but 1st Runner Up for those two consecutive years. That's also a good thing to give others a chance to win. But since 2017 (I believe) and rest of the years including 2025 were all won by AO Smog, hands down! And that's when people vote in Times Herald on who's the best. I never voted- but yet, he is still the clear winner! I have been coming here and I am proud to say that he has not changed a bit and always a pleasant experience. Keep up the great work and glad that I always have my regular smog shop. Thanks Andy!

Looking for a cheap, fast and honest smog location go see Andy at AO Smog right next to the after hours. He was quick with only one person ahead of me and he was fast no more than about 30 minutes for the actual smog itself and my price was $39.00 out the door no tax. You really can't beat that. I will be referring others to his shop as I think it was the best out of all 4 smog locations I visited with ALL had higher prices and much longer wait times. Thanks Andy for being available, affordable and understandable.

So I'm always skeptical about places that get raving reviews because I always wonder if it's someone related to the business or somehow connected to the business writing positive reviews. But because the price was too good to pass up, my husband and I both took our cars last Friday to get smogs and what I found was not only the price was super affordable, (And I have an SUV) Andy was super friendly. This is the real deal folks. You are not going to find a more reasonable price in Vallejo or the Bay Area as a matter of fact. And you are not going to find a nicer man or a more honest place to get a smog. I can't say enough positive things about AO smog. I am so happy we found this place and believe me every review is 100% correct. I have already recommended AO to my friends & family that live all over the Bay Area! 10 stars and two thumbs up!

This review is long overdue. I used AO SMOG last year 12/31/2018 as my tags were due on the first. The owner was QUICK to respond back to my yelp inquiry and accommodated me within 30mins. I took my Corolla for a smog and was out with the quickness even with one person ahead of me. When my car needs a smog again later this year, I'm coming straight here! read more

Andy was top notch! Had a car that hasn't run for a while with some battery issues. He told me what to do to help it possibly pass smog. Didn't charge me for that. I came back an hour later and was good to go. He's reasonable and is a stand up guy. Go to him for your smog needs, SERIOUSLY! read more

Andy is the man! Such a friendly guy, honest, efficient, fast and fair. He has the best price in town and even better service. Our truck wouldnt pass because the battery had just died and had to he jumped so he told us how to drive it so that all would reset. We are passed and on our way! It was a bit hard to see where this was located, but managed to find it. It's behind the gas station and bar, and in the same building as the mechanics. I got to the shop ~3:45pm on a Monday, with one car ahead of me, but they were wrapping up, so I grabbed a drink at the gas station, came back and the previous customers were leaving. I handed the tech my DMV paperwork, and moved my car up for him. It took ~15 minutes, in and out, charged as advertised. 10/10 will recommend and be back for any other Smog Checks! read more

If you are looking to have your car smogged look no further! I had my car smog checked today at AO Smog and left with a smile. My experience couldn't have been any easier. AO Smog is best there is. The owner Andy is the one of the nicest people I have met. He is honest, experienced, professional and quick. He does the job right and for a great price! This place is the best I have ever been for a smog test. The owner was very helpful and kind. I had had to have my car jumped before I drove it in for the test, which can cause the car to fail if you don't drive it enough miles afterwards since that causes the car's computer to reset. He checked that out (think it's called an OBD double monitor) for free before even running the test and it turned out that I had run up enough miles to proceed safely with the test. The test was run quickly and I passed with no problems. When he saw that I had to jury rig the door to my gas cap to access it (a trick I learned on Youtube years before) since I didn't have money to spend on a repair I could work around, he not only showed me another way of doing it but actually gave me a discount on his already low fee. I think he could see I don't have a lot of money and felt sorry for me and so was generous enough to lower the price for me. I don't write a lot of reviews but when I find a business that goes above and beyond the call of duty like this, I try to help them out (and other people looking for their service) by posting one. AO Smog has my highest recommendation! read more

I rarely leave Yelp reviews but I had to for this place. I found this place on Yelp searching for Smog stations. Because of the r eviews and price, I had to check it out. I met Andy (who's mentioned in previous reviews) and he is very nice/friendly. Not only did he perform the smog test but he was checking out my engine for other problems. He happened to find a hose that was disconnected and told me about it. This guy is the best. I will be returning and sending other customers there as well. Andy if you read this, salamat Po! Stopped by here to get my car smogged on the way to work. Service was so quick and easy I was there less than 30 minutes. Probably less than 20. I checked out some reviews online and saw that this place has the highest ratings as well as the cheapest price. So I went to go check it out for myself and I definitely will be returning. I think I paid about $35 and I was in and out without an appointment. Great experience read more

LOWEST PRICE IN VALLEJO, FOR THE BEST QUALITY SERVICE! When I arrived, there was no wait! From the beginning Andy was super sweet and got started on my smog check really quickly. Came here today without an appointment and was out by 30mins with a person ahead of me. Super fast and efficient. Andy was super friendly and even gave me tips on how to get my registration sticker faster by going to AAA since I'm a member without having to go to the dmv line after noticing my registration is due in two days! Not only that, cheapest you can ever find in Vallejo! Will definitely be back in two years and recommend this place to my family and friends! read more

I called up few places before smog test. Nawabi autp recommended one next to Exxon and it asked for 80 which is ridiculous. I heard next town Bencia has going rate for 65. Anyways I found AO Smog through Yelp. Andy was nice and got rhis done professionally and thw best of all you wont find a better deal anywhere in town! Strongly recommend. read more

I needed a smog check asap. I checked reviews on smog check stations & AO Smog has the BEST review & the BEST price. I gave them a call & I was told I can just come in. Sure enough, Andy is very nice, very professional, very kind & very helpful. I was very pleased with the service. Then, after the smog test was done, my car will not start. Back again two years later as a repeat customer with the same 2012 Camry and the same smog report. Andy continues to excel in what he does and observed thorough process to complete the smog check. Since my last visit, Andy has gone on to earn 1st Place two consecutive years in a row in smog check by Solano County Times Herald. Congrats, Andy. It seems a third 1st place is coming this year. I called and left voicemails, emailed and texted, hoping to get the owner to return to the store and restore my bag to me. I'm a mechanic my self been working on cars for over 15 years. So when I purchased this car I knew what I was looking for. Nothin was broken and breaks are fine this place broke a pcv valve to fail the smog and said the break pads and rotors or to worn I checked with a measuring tool have more then 50%. All in all they stole $325. To fail me and wanted to charge me $1800 in repairs. I priced out everything myself parts came out to be $170. So labor $1650 I don't know about you but that crazy. Don't go there highly recommend close this place.

I recently moved here from Tuolumne County, which requires NO annual smog checking at all, and with a pristine 10 year old Mustang, I wasn't about to take it just anywhere. After reading dozens of reviews and checking several prices, AO Smog won the right to smog my baby. AO Smog and its owner Andy met all my expectations. If you think your car just need the smog check, come to AO SMOG. First, cheaper, maybe the cheapest one around vallejo, just $35.20 totally. Second, friendly staff with professional services.Third, fast, about 30 minutes or less. read more
