#ThankfulThursday2022 I was looking for a gift for a friend that seemingly has everything. I pondered for days over ideas about how I could make her day special. I finally remembered Antonelli's! I made a bee line for the cheese shop and was greeted with a smile. The staff that helped me asked all the right questions to help me put together a beautiful gift bag for my friend. I enjoyed the experience an appreciated the expert advice too. Did you know they also offer shipping right from their store and they package it all up?! I opted to take my gift to go. It ended up being a hit with my friend and I walked out of Antonelli's thinking I need to buy all my gifts from them. I love that you can set a budget and just build your own! I've also been to Antonelli's a couple of times to purchase cheese on special occasions to share at my home. My husband and I love going in and tasting the cheese and deciding what to purchase. Amazing place. Matt greeted us and took us through a tour of flavors and pairings. We tried 5 different cheeses, 2 preserves and a Hawaiian honey. All were crazy brilliant for different reasons. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly employees who answered all our questions and suggested different cheeses to taste so that we knew we'd be buying exactly what we wanted. All the cheeses were delicious of course, but there were some we tasted (and bought) that we would never have thought to try had it not been for the shop's expertise. It was BYOB with 7 types of cheese to taste along with a pairing for each cheese, apricots, salami, chocolate, chutney etc, and bread and crackers. Wow do they stock the best of the best! It was an enjoyable experience, that we learned a lot from. We enjoyed the two ladies guiding us through the cheese tasting, they were friendly, and knowledgeable . The only negative thing I can say is the chair I was sitting on was a bit uncomfortable. The Rose wine I had with the flight was a bit bland. However these are trivial things. I have been wanting to stop by Antonelli's for quite some time now. I love love love cheese and I'm just now starting to learn more and more about it. Signed up for their Valentine's Day date night to get the whole experience. We were a bit late but the staff was friendly and accommodating, they were saving us our seat and we arrived just in time to get started. Every single tasting was a perfect introduction to what they offer - I didn't expect to see local cheeses really and they were all phenomenal. They did a nice ice breaker at the beginning - your name and favorite cheese. They even provided to-go boxes. You were also given the opportunity to shop by selecting à la carte items either by 1/2 pound or pound. We walked away with some Cana de Oveja (soft cheese from Spain) and Bayley Hazen Blue (blue cheesy from Vermont). Plus some dried figs and Cleveland style mustard. They sat us next to a lovely couple that made the evening even more enjoyable. Parking right in front. I will be coming back!! read more

Came here because I was looking for a place in Austin that had special cheeses and I was not disappointed at all! First, the service here was awesome! I found my new favorite cheese here which is their L'Amuse Gouda. The friends I went with loved Flory's Truckle and Sottocenere. Would recommend it if you love cheeses or are looking for a place to build a board. The man (I don't know his name but he wore a black cap and happened to be in the back of one of my photos) who helped us knew a lot about the origins of the cheeses, the backstory, and the unique characteristics of the cheeses. He was also very helpful in showing us cheeses and letting us taste a couple to see if we liked them. In the end, I bought their Caldera Espana, Dry Jack, Flory's Truckle, Manchego, 10-Year Cheddar, Sottocenere, and L'Amuse Gouda cheeses. All were incredible ranging from cheeses that were very sharp to those that had a more subtle fruity flavor. read more

We recently attended an event out at Bee Tree Farms (co-hosted by Antonelli's) and it was such a fantastic experience! The set up onsite was quaint - very rustic but with all the amenities you'd want (cute, clean sheltered seating/eating area; gift shop and bathroom) and the additional plus of a working goat farm. The event was a brunch event so the plates were generously filled with curated cheeses and meats and paired with delicious Cava and Rose. We didn't want for food or drink the entire time. Overall, this was a delicious and wonderful local experience - we would absolutely recommend! read more

If you are a cheese aficionado or someone who just loves cheese Antonelli's is cheese heaven. Their retail store does get busy so do not plan a quick drive by. We arrived with high expectations and the staff easily blew those expectations out of the water! Not being experts we explained what we liked and did not like. Our cheese sommelier asked some additional questions and proceeded with numerous tastings. Hard cheese, soft cheese, blue cheese was the just the beginning. I asked for a cheese that would take us out of our comfort some and we tasted a soft cheese that I would have never of imagined I would like. We also purchased a jelly that would pair well with one of our selections. We left totally satisfied, raced home, and we built our charcuterie plate. Yes, Antonelli's is pricey but you certainly get great value in regards to the quality of their cheese and customer service. I am reducing my rating by one tenth of a star as I am burnt out on their "Hi we are the Antonelli's" TV ads. ;^) read more

We couldn't reschedule, but the team there put together two awesome tasting plates for us and we at them at home the next day. They were fantastic! Such a great stay at home date idea. I cannot express enough how much I love this shop!! Cheese has been a passion of mine since around 2016 and learning more about different kinds of cheeses was my 2021 goal. Had a freaking blast. A friend and I went to the date night (it wasn't overly romantic and wasn't weird at all going with a friend) and we were blown away by the quality and quantity if the food. I was afraid it wasn't going to be a proper dinner, but once you added in the really good bread/butter and all the little snacks, we were well fed. The staff was easygoing and very competent, and parking at the South Lamar location is easy. I don't even like blue cheese normally and actually didn't hate it! We arrived in Austin to visit good friends for a couple of days. They had a list of places they excitedly described that we should see while we were in Austin including the Capital, the LBJ Presidential Library, Lady Bird Lake, Congress Avenue Bat Bridge, and the Blanton Museum of Art. They stopped and looked expectantly, waiting to hear what we were interested in seeing. "We want to go to Antonelli's Cheese Shop!" We responded. We were so excited after seeing this location featured in a Capital One commercial for the last few years in LA we had to see it in person. Also, we love cheese! Two great reasons to visit Antonelli's. When we arrived we were greated by the friendliest staff behind the counter. There are a wide variety of cheeses from local sources as well as other artisanal providers from around the country. The collection of temptations in the display is amazing. They also happily cut samples to taste for us from any cheese in the case that we were interested in. All of the tastes were delicious and the person helping us shared interesting information about each of the cheeses. We ultimately chose to order a charcuterie board with cheeses, meats, olives, and dried fruits as well as some other delectables. We came back to pick it up and it looked gorgeous. The cheeses include Plain Chevre from Pure Luck Dairy, Cave Aged Marisa from Carr Valley Cheese, Menage also from Carr Valley Cheese, Three Milk Gouda from Old Chatham Shepparding Company, Great Hill Blue from Great Hill Dairy. Our favorite was the three milk gouda which had a nice creamy nutty flavor. The meats included Speck Americano from La Quercia, Pepperettes from Olympia Provisions and Olli Salami from Olli Salumeria. All three of these were very tasty but we were fans of the salami which had a nice rich traditional flavor. The other items on the cheese tray were great accents to the star performers listed above and included figs, grapes, corn nuts, olives, dried apricots, sweet peppers, and cornichons. This tray was a delight and we savored every bite. Antonelli's Cheese Shop is a delectable stop and a must for any cheese lover. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable offering samples of their cheeses and dispensing valuable cheese wisdom along the way. We will definitely be back anytime we get a chance to visit Austin in the future. read more

Phenomenal. A cheese lover's dream. I've heard about this place from several restaurants and stores. Always heard rave reviews! This is THE place for cheese connoisseurs. Antonellis is nestled in Hyde Park within a row of stores/restaurants off Duval. Parking is scarce so be prepared to park on the street. Once you walk in you'll be greeted by friendly employees ready to guide you through the cheeses. You'll start on the right side with the creamy, soft cheese options then move along your cheese journey to the left where you'll find blue cheese varieties. Based on your cheese flavor preferences/profile they'll allow you to try several options until you find the one to your liking. I appreciate that the staff (cheesemongers) talk you through the flavors of each cheese, how it's made, the history, etc. As a cheese lover it was an incredibly helpful process!! I also loved that I could try the cheese before purchasing the items. I ended up selecting 4 cheeses but almost left with 7. The cheese is pricey but well worth it! The cheese I purchased ranged from the semi soft style (Challerhocker hailing from Switzerland) to a creamy soft cheese (Jasper Hill Farms in Vermont - Willoughby). Wow. Fantastic. I spent way too much money and will happily do so again! They also have meat options - salami, pepperoni, and prosciutto - but they didn't float my boat. I wish they'd partner with Salumi out of Seattle for their charcuterie offerings that would make this place beyond amazing. I love that I got to try several cheese varieties that I normally wouldn't have tried and found them surprisingly delicious and will most likely try them (or purchase them) next time. With how expensive quality cheese is these days this is a wonderful way to go outside of your comfort zone and experience new flavors without the full commitment! This review is for their Cheese 101 class on a Tuesday night. This was the first cheese tasting class I went to, and it was lot of fun! Let's start at the beginning. Purchasing their classes was a breeze. After purchasing a Brunch class, I ended up wanting another class instead, and Anna was able to switch classes for me and refund the difference. Great customer service! Parking was fairly easy. I arrived to the Cheese House on time, while their parking lot was filled up, the street parking was a breeze! Our host was super knowledgeable of the cheeses we were tasting that day and incorporated a lot of stories and humor throughout. The cheeses were delicious and their pairings from peppers, to chocolate, to jams were fantastic. Our class was around 20 people total divided in four separate tables. Bread and the olive and nuts palate cleansers were nice additions and the supply was plentiful. It was BYOB, but you can walk across the street to their shop for customized wine pairings. It was a lot of cheese and definitely filled me up for the night. In the end, I definitely learned a lot about what cheeses I liked and which ones I didn't. They support the community in dozens of ways: small businesses included in their shop like Austin Jam Company, Confituras, Abbey Jane Bakery, and more; donating any time the city is in crises (i.e. COVID, snow storm of Feb 2021), They're genuinely the most enjoyable couple. I love the personal classes with them on Facebook and jump at anything its a tasting "with the Antonelli's!" They have the best stories on how they meet cheese makers around the world and its a joy. As two people who didn't know anything about cheese and how to pair them appropriately, this was super helpful. We went to a special event in collaboration with Tiny Pies from Austin, TX, and oh my! What a match! The menu shown in the image speaks for itself. It started of very nice and smooth, and ended with a gooey red hawk cheese. I'm a Tiny Pies fan, but had never been to Antonelli's before. After this event, I'm most def an Antonelli's fan for life! I left the event with a pound of cheese and caramelized pecans that were offered for sale after the tasting. I must say that I will def follow all events by Antonelli's from now on. This place is SO COOL. First, it is around the corner from Quack's, where I spent most of my time studying while at UT. Second, free samples of every jam and every cheese in sight! We had such a cool cheesemonger (wish I got her name) who let me sample the very itty bitty last bit of the Confituras strawberry balsamic black pepper jam, plus we sampled a bunch more. Then we tried various cheese she suggested and ended up buying three of them! However, we were almost through the case to the register when I spotted it...PANTALEO! This is my favorite cheese and it sure is hard to find! First I got it at Mimi's Cheese Shop in my little town. Then it was no longer carried there. I found it at some Whole Foods here, sometimes. Then it was hard to find again. But...TODAY! Pantaleo, in the case! All of its aged, hard goatness with citrus notes and OMG I got to taste it and buy it! I needed some cheese for wine night and wanted to chat with a professional so I stopped by and was assisted by Henry who was fabulous! I brought a specialty jam that recommended 3 types of cheeses and Henry perfectly paired delicious selections. We left with flory's truckle, kunik, and bay blue cheese that is mild on the blue and tastes of blueberry which delighted my friend who normally does not like blue cheese. I had never heard of duck prosciutto and after a sample, I was hooked! Their prosciutto di parma was also excellent. I thought the shop would be a bit larger with a various different cracker selections and wine/champagne. Wow. Just wow. Not the experience I was expecting from a cheese shop! My friend took me here on my first visit to Austin and it was easily the best part of my whole trip. We waited our turn in line (probably about 10 minutes on a Monday holiday) and approached the counter to find the loveliest cheesemonger who took us on a "journey" through a variety of cheeses. We sampled about 10 different kinds, a jam and some honey. So many new and interesting flavors that I had never enjoyed before. It was educational, fun and, of course, delicious.
