This place is SO COOL. First, it is around the corner from Quack's, where I spent most of my time studying while at UT. Second, free samples of every jam and every cheese in sight! We had such a cool cheesemonger (wish I got her name) who let me sample the very itty bitty last bit of the Confituras strawberry balsamic black pepper jam, plus we sampled a bunch more. Then we tried various cheese she suggested and ended up buying three of them! However, we were almost through the case to the register when I spotted it...PANTALEO! This is my favorite cheese and it sure is hard to find! First I got it at Mimi's Cheese Shop in my little town. Then it was no longer carried there. I found it at some Whole Foods here, sometimes. Then it was hard to find again. But...TODAY! Pantaleo, in the case! All of its aged, hard goatness with citrus notes and OMG I got to taste it and buy it! I came here for jam and to show my mom cheese, but I left with jam AND cheese! Sometimes it be like JAM! Sometimes I find my favorite cheese! The cheesemonger ran across the street to the cheese house and gave us a FREE ICE PACK too! I love it! read more

I had family come in from out of state and they had seen Antonelli's on TV so they had to go. It was okay, staff was friendly and accommodating. The shop was clean and well maintained. Items were overpriced in my opinion. It's a place I will visit once but probably won't return. read more

I attended an Antonelli's virtual cheese tasting with a professional/work related group, and it was easily the best virtual COVID programming I've attended - BOOK THEM FOR SAFE TEAM BONDING! I picked up the cheese plate at their Cheese House in Hyde Park and was in an out in less than 5 minutes. I parked at a specific slot, texted them, popped my trunk and was good to go! During the evening event our host Carolina was a hoot! She has us all laughing and enjoying her cheese insights - so much to learn about cheese! We had an engaging one hour class with chocolate and cheese pairings and all options were unique and delicious. read more

Looking for wonderful craft cheeses? This is the place in Austin. I love the fact that they let you sample various cheeses and tell you about them. The people behind the counter have an enthusiasm that's contagious and I've never been disappointed with any of the cheeses I've brought home. Five stars just for the fact that I can't wait to go back there. read more

We had the most enjoyable time taking the riclette class with friends learning more about cheese than I ever thought I needed to (in the best of ways!). The class was lighthearted and the food offering was heartier and more diverse in options than I expected too. The staff were all extremely pleasant as if they were experiencing a night out with us. read more

Wow. Just wow. Not the experience I was expecting from a cheese shop! My friend took me here on my first visit to Austin and it was easily the best part of my whole trip. We waited our turn in line (probably about 10 minutes on a Monday holiday) and approached the counter to find the loveliest cheesemonger who took us on a "journey" through a variety of cheeses. We sampled about 10 different kinds, a jam and some honey. So many new and interesting flavors that I had never enjoyed before. It was educational, fun and, of course, delicious. I would honestly pay for this type of thing as was surprised it was free! We chose three cheeses to enjoy with some bread and jam on the patio to complete our cheese-venture. I can't wait to go back! read more

The Antonelli's and their staff are always a treat to see. We have had a fantastic time at several virtual cheese tastings during the pandemic-- and what a highlight they have been!! We had a slight mix up for our most recent virtual cheese tasting but the staff (JH) was incredibly helpful and got us rebooked right away. read more

I've always had samples of cheese from this place at events and I finally got to stop by the shop! When you walk in there's an assortment of cute gifts and snacks at the front. You line up towards the back of the store and work your way back to the front. The way they run is that you get assigned a cheesemonger so you may have to wait a bit; you can't always walk in to buy the cheese you want immediately. There's no menu anywhere but instead trivia on the types of cheese and the types of milk you might be sampling. They help recommend you the cheeses and you pretty much get to sample as much as you want! For the softer cheeses, they are price by each package, but the others are by the half pound. Our cheesemonger was knowledgeable and helpful with what we wanted. They also have a small selection of meats and really good jams and nuts you can pair with your cheese as well. I do wish they had like a sampler or preset menu since I'm a cheese newbie, but the experience was nice and fun for me and my boyfriend! It is pricey though but you do get good quality cheese and support local! read more

THE MOST patient service personnel in all of Austin! Really. Doesn't matter if there are 5 people in line or 50, rest assured the cheesemongers will dedicate as much time as it takes to ensuring you walk out with more cheese knowledge and some delicious delights. So walk in with a chunk of time and a good dose of patience for your fellow customers who may want to sample like they are walking through a Costco. But the rewards for your patience are worth it. I learn something new every time I visit! Whatever your budget, they will work with you. read more

Like many other people, I have seen the commercials over the years, but I had no idea that they are located in Austin. I needed some cheese for wine night and wanted to chat with a professional so I stopped by and was assisted by Henry who was fabulous! I brought a specialty jam that recommended 3 types of cheeses and Henry perfectly paired delicious selections. We left with flory's truckle, kunik, and bay blue cheese that is mild on the blue and tastes of blueberry which delighted my friend who normally does not like blue cheese. I had never heard of duck prosciutto and after a sample, I was hooked! Their prosciutto di parma was also excellent. I thought the shop would be a bit larger with a various different cracker selections and wine/champagne. Although we did not find crackers to our liking, we did however find a nice bottle of Rosso All'Antica, a red brut that was a perfect pairing. read more

Another stellar experience with Antonelli's- my first virtual cheese tasting! It was cheese & pickled goodies for an hour long session with two lovely ladies hosting the event from Antonelli's Cheese House. Love that their is a cheese shop right around the corner for hide park. I have had a few of their cheeses and also done one of their brunches that was out at a goat farm. I love the variety and how they showcase when other local places are using their cheese as well or helping to tell the story of each different cheese. Definitely check out their shop (either in person or virtual), their cheese club, and of course their classes/pairings! read more

Ordered a large charcuterie board for an event, and it was amazing! The cheeses selected were all incredibly unique but still total crowd pleasers, and it was all prepared and beautiful right on time. If you want to add some extras on top of your board, they have lots of fun products and a lovely wine selection with most bottles ~20 dollars. Highly highly recommend their boards for an event! read more

What a delight this little cheese shop is! Visited this spot after my friend and I decided we wanted to have ourselves a little picnic. We arrived at the perfect time with only one person in line. Both my friend and I know our cheese for the most part, but boy of boy do they have so many options to choose from. From Wisconsin to Northern California, all the way to Spain and even right here in Texas. The kind lady that was helping us was also incredibly knowledgeable and was able to tell us all about the cheeses we were interested and even allowed us to sample a handful. All the cheeses in the glass container are priced out by weight, which they cut however much you'd like right off the wheel. Need other supplies to go along with your new cheese tasting, well go no further. They've got wine, crackers, olives, jams, bread and more. Hands down one of my favorite cheese spots I've checked out, highly recommended!! read more

I love this cheese shop! I've gotten a few cheese boards from them and they're always amazing! I love buying from local cheese makers and where worse could you have a conversation about halumi in Texas? BTW - if you haven't tried halumi, do it. It's amazing. Antonellis does a good job of keeping everything fresh so even if you get a cheese board twice it's not the same thing, they change up the cheeses, meats and fillers. Oh! Speaking of their corn nuts are nuts! So good! Okay go enjoy their cheese you won't be sorry! read more

As the Monty Python players once said, 'Blessed are the cheesemakers'. Or in this case, the cheesemongers. Excellent service, a marvelous selection of cheese, and a not-at-all-bad selection of charcuterie, jams and other confections. I first heard of Antonelli's through the Hye Meadows Winery, where I was served a cheese plate of their products for lunch. This was so good I inquired with the server where they'd gotten it from, and a week later, I was able to make the trip down to mid-town. Parking can be tricky during peak hours, so I'd recommend going other times. Service was excellent, and they're very good about pairing your tastes (and wines!) with various cheesy comestibles. TLDR: If you want a taste of the good life, you need to stop by and try a slice! read more

You know how girls are always eating a pint of ice cream in movies when they're having a bad day? Cheese is my pint of ice cream, except I eat it pretty much every day. Don't let the cheese selection at Antonelli's overwhelm you. Everyone there is very helpful and willing to give you samples! If you can give them some basic guidelines like a type of milk or firmness they will be able to narrow it down for you. I've never tried a cheese I didn't like and usually take home everything I sample. They will even keep a list of all the cheeses you buy for reference on your next visit. I've noticed a few restaurants around town featuring a cheese plate from Antonelli's and it's always delish, so if it's on the menu, order it. read more

I had a large order pre paid for my party. When I showed up to pick it up they had not prepared any of it. Matt didn't seem concerned at all. He told me they really didn't have the stuff he needed to fulfill the order so I could just wait at least 30 mins while they try to put something together or get refunded. I was very disappointed not only that they didn't fulfill my order but the lack of concern shown. read more

My absolute favorite cheese shop! I'm rather sad it's in Austin and that I didn't discover it (or is that it opened) until after I had already moved, but whenever I'm back in town, I try to stop by right before the return drive home for some good cheese. My husband isn't much of a cheese fan but he has discovered that he does like some, with a lot of help of Antonelli's. We've visited several times before and the way it works is you go up to the counter (someone usually greets you as you walk in), you get assigned a cheesemonger, and you tell them about any preferences or if there's something you're looking for. My usual requirements are that we're vegetarian (we also don't consume alcohol), so they usually just let us sample pretty much every vegetarian cheese they have all the way from soft to blue. I take this opportunity to try new cheeses and be surprised. In the end, I end up splurging a little and am quite happy with the prospect of enjoying them. I truly have enjoyed every visit thus far. The cheesemonger is knowledgeable and they'll be with you every step of the way. Each cheese comes with a little information card but the cheesemonger will also give their little spiel on each delectable bit of cheese they hand over. You'll truly be taken care of here and they'll cut the cheese to any size you need! The cheeses aren't cheap but it's worth it for a little treat for your taste buds and if there's a special occasion. The shop is a little small, especially since they get a steady crowd of customers, and the parking lot is tiny. We often park around the corner on the street and just walk over. However, if there is a wait, it shouldn't be long. I never really had to wait the previous times but this time, I only needed to wait a couple of minutes before I was helped. As a note, they also sell crackers, bread, condiments, olives, chocolates, and meats. Basically, if it goes with cheese, they'll have it! read more

We had a great experience! We were first exposed by the fareground. Since we had such a great experience, we wanted to check out the original location. Jack lead us through some cheese and meat tasting, and was enjoyable to talk to. We found a Gouda and a softer cheese. Get this, they can keep a cheese log so that you have a record of what you have bought. In addition to meats and cheeses, they have a great selection of wine, honey, and chocolates. They also have classes, which are held at their event space directly across the street! You can sign up on their website. read more

So on a whim we decided to head to Antonelli's so that we could fulfill our craving for a nice Charcuterie board we could enjoy at home. To our dismay they were not allowing walk-ins so we decided to call and see what options we had (side note they like 24-48 hours for these types of orders). We ended up talking with Jerod over the phone who went through each type of cheese, where it came from, it's history and some other personal tidbits he thought would be interesting. For having to order from our car i could not have imagined how enjoyable this could be and how much of an information overload you could get from cheese! Great job Jerod and great job Antonelli's! ps. We had our order within 15 minutes of ordering...CRAZY FAST! read more

** This review is specific to a Living Social tasting I participated in at Antonelli's (Tricks and Treats on Oct. 20) ** While I have had Antonelli's cheeses at restaurants and friends' homes (given the to-go cheeseboards), this was my first time to the shop/tasting house for a fun tasting event with Amanda S. After our experience, I would certainly recommend tasting classes there - just estimate about two hours as our tasting guide was very into cheese and giving you a strong background on everything you were tasting. Cheese tasting as they described is best done with the cheese itself first prior to with any of the accompaniments that were provided with each cheese. We each received individual tasting boards with 5 different cheeses. It was filling and flavorful! Chevre - Pure luck farm & dairy with honeycomb - super fresh tasting and I preferred it without the honey for its creaminess and pure taste Kunik - Nettle meadow farm with Dick Taylor fleur de seal bar - it had a white rind and was soft ripened - it was good, but not my favorite Cabot Clothbound - Jasper hill farm with Effie oatcakes and confituras apple butter - the cheese itself was amazing, but the combination of all three was outstanding - the three are out of my price range for a daily treat, but well worth it for a more special occasion Coolea with cajeta - very good gouda with caramel (which we got a jar to take home courtesy of Living Social!) Cashel blue with Texas brittle chocolate bar - decent, but very strong finish to the evening All in all, we enjoyed ourselves. The class was approachable, informative and filling. read more

They were the nicest people and ever so patient. I felt bad to keep asking for samples. I did have a gift certificate that I did not use because I wanted to use mail order and I wasn't going to be going home and did not have refrigeration. Great assortment of cheese, meats, and bread and easy to pick up. I went to the pickup location next to Uncle Nicky's on Duval.

The staff was super rude to us. We ordered platters for our company party. When calling in we were on hold for half an hour before giving up. In person they were dismissive and had the worst case of cannot even when we tried to literately give them money for product they had for sale and couldn't be bothered to answer questions about the order or other selections. This businesses is all marketing and no substance. I've tried hard to use them as little as possible and this is another example of why I do just that. Central market and Whole Foods has a better selection and less attitude. read more

I've always loved Antonelli's cheese-- but my experience today with Jerod just blew it out of the water. Will never, ever be able to buy cheese anywhere else now. I'm an evangelist. As you all may know, Antonelli's was one of the first businesses to strategically pivot during COVID-19 and offer virtual cheese tastings. For the busy professional, introvert, or straight up busy parent this is IDEAL. I did my first virtual tasting in April, and wanted to get a few friends together to repeat-- but all of the virtual classes were filled for the next week. I called and asked Jerod if there was any way we could repeat the cheeses I tried in April while following the Live video, and he informed me that all of the cheeses may not be in shop. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS GREAT. He offered to make me a curated cheese tasting AND offered to email me his tasting notes/details/recommendations for each cheese and pairing. He spent over thirty minutes on the phone with me-- even close to closing time. He also made sure to be conscious of my budget and palette. To the Antonelli's-- Jerod is amazing! Hope you guys start ordering weekly tasting/pairing menus for takeout, especially as consumer behavior shifts post COVID-19 and more people stay home. I've also been eager to share these tastings with my friends from out of town to follow the Live videos together virtually. Hope this is something you all implement moving forward. So happy with my experience. It's moments like these that separate small businesses apart. read more
