I was on my way to WI from Indianapolis when my husband called to tell me I left my overnight bag at home. By that point, I was almost to Chicago (over 3 hours from home) and I had to be somewhere at a certain time for a paid weekend opportunity taking photos of murals in their town. My vision is terrible. And my contacts are supposed to be changed daily. I didn't even have my glasses. I left on a Friday and wouldn't be back until Sunday and usually after more than a day or wear, the contacts start to break down. I absolutely cannot see without them or my glasses and I was traveling alone. I happened by this spot while getting gas and popped in to see if by some chance they might have samples in my prescription and they did!!! They seriously saved me so much anxiety over the weekend and now I have several pairs to get me through if I need them. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The cost outside with insurance is same cost with them with insurance. If you ever decide to buy from them look it up first online like from glassesusa.com or other online sites. Let me start by saying I read my insurance policy on my insurance website and then booked the appointment through my insurance provider saying this location was covered in my insurance network. I knew before arriving my insurance plan covered contacts and glasses. When I asked the front desk staff she looked at me and said "most people only get glasses or contacts so just pick out glasses as the best bang for your buck." Cool, so I pick out my glasses. As I'm doing so she pulls up my plan and tells me I have coverage for neither contacts or glasses. I try to explain to her that I work for a multi billion dollar pharmaceutical company and I'm definitely covered. I proceed to take out my company phone and look up my coverage again; where it tells me I'm covered. I look at my paycheck where I've been paying for eye insurance all year. I'm throughly confused. The two other front desk staff proceed to sing and mess around while I try to talk to the other women that thinks I came here with no insurance. The receptionist is the only person helping by calling my insurance company. After getting everything cleared up and experiencing what was the most unprofessional experience in a doctors office. I get my bill. Guess what I was covered for glasses and contact. Next time don't walk up to the customer and tell them that they are not covered until after you've called their insurance agency. I came to pick up my glasses and could not focus with either pair I ordered. The staff tried to clean the lenses and adjusting the nose piece but still was not helping. They told me to go home and try it for a week and they would call me to check up on me, but if they had to remake them they would not help me as it would still be the same prescriptions. NEVER got a follow up call. I feel like they did not listen to me at all during the exam and after. I trusted them and now I feel that I was swindled and the glasses are unusable garbage. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I do not want any communications with them EVER.

I have been having eye issues and I can't thank the Johnson Eye Care team for being so patient and focused on helping me. I have been wearing glasses since I have been a kid and was extremely impressed with how sophisticated all of the equipment their equipment was. It's extremely professional and was able to get to the root of the issues with my issue while Dr Schoepke did a deep look into what I have going on. Being that I am a very technical person ... I was geeking out with all the gear the have ( can you tell ). Oh btw no Air blowing in your eyes here to check your pressure... on top of it Dr Schoepke said those tests are no very reliable. Here's the deal... a year ago I was told from sketchy Dr in the western suburbs that I have a rare eye issue and I would have to go to Canada to stop for going blind in the future. I was relieved that this is not true and the issue I have just needs to be monitored. I have had a weight on my shoulders since that last visit.... I can believe I waited this long. To top it off the they have a great selection of glasses and Mary was extremely helpful picking out the right frames for me. Big thank you to the Johnson Eye care Team. Is this a general ophthalmology or an emergency ophthalmology ward? It's pretty difficult to tell…read morewith how fast they can get same day and next day appointments for urgent issues. Before you think about driving to the emergency room give them a call for minor and moderate eye issues. They might be able to see you quickly. I was a next morning after reporting anomaly in the afternoon day before. The office is clean well kept and equipment is of current generation. Phoropters and slit lamps are original early 2000s installs very well maintained and kept with pristine lenses. Staff are caring and nice and handle exams quickly. Dilation waiting area was in the center but was told to go to main waiting which was a slight workflow deficiency, I will not deduct stars for workflow deficiency. Points will be deducted Appearance 90 (some corners of exam chairs have peeled paint and could use a repaint and refresh. The leather as well has cracked on some seats making a reupholstery job a favorable management decision in addition to light repainting and updating the overall offices decor. It feels like it's stuck in 2004) Staff 100 (absolute gems of staff here. Very caring and patient even with rather sketchy eye control in cerebral palsy exam. A CP exam can take up to 70% more time than a standard exam. Here a CP exam takes averaged across five exams approximately 20% longer than a standard persons exam which is impressive efficiency with high complexity care.) Equipment 100 (while cosmetic issues exist such as peeling paint actual equipment is kept in pristine condition and works as expected. In fact the auto diagnostic machine was so clean I plopped my head down and they said "hang on hang on I haven't even wiped it yet!" Your fault for it looking perfectly ready!) Workflow 85 (this one was the hardest to deduct for. They had a central interior waiting room with no windows for dilating patients. Instead they had everyone waiting in main today. Not sure if this was due to the water issue in the building or if this was a workflow defect. Will follow up next exam and remind them of proper use of the dilation room to avoid over irritation of patient eyes during the wait and to improve COVID-19 distancing for patients by keeping dilating patients away from the main waiting to protect them while eyes are in a more vulnerable state.) Overall rating 95/100 A+ 5/5

They give you the excuse that it's a liability. It's not. Extremely disappointed! I wish they would have said something up front as I would have gone elsewhere. When I mentioned this, I was told there aren't that many people that request the PD? I was offered to speak with the regional manager when she "comes in" the next day and of course she never called. The doctor here does the exam but doesn't say anything about your eye health, although he'll answer your questions.

I visited a few highly rated establishments, and decided on 730 North. I was glad I did, because it was the best experience I have ever had with my vision. Really nice people that take their time to get it right and listen to my concerns. My first experience was great but something was off with one of the lenses. They ordered a replacement and honestly after that I had the best vision I ever remember having. I just recently upgraded again and my experience was once again terrific. Not the cheapest, but in my opinion the best value.

I've been a long-time patient at ABC&E's Vernon Hills location but will now make the Mundelein…read moreoffice my "home base" thanks to the warm, focused and extremely competent service I received today, secondary to the optometrist's removal of a migrated contact lens in my right eye. The "mojo" of this office, relative to the Vernon Hills site, was completely different in the most positive respect. An actual receptionist heartily greeted me on arrival with a warm smile and focused demeanor, all but absent, unfortunately, at the Vernon Hills site, which seemed understaffed and in some respect unwelcoming. The Mundelein site's optometrist, whose name I did not request, unfortunately, was the paragon of kindness, warmth and acumen. Her personality was warm, her procedural concern extremely capable and her general attentiveness exemplary. Frankly I was not accustomed to this standard of care from the other location, capable though all staff seemed to be. The site's general manager, Tai, was also very personable, sociable and proud of his operation. Here was a gentleman who takes great pride in his work and team and he is highly commended as one who strives to run not only a tight ship, but a humanistic one. I cannot recall any visit to the Vernon Hills shop that in any manner possessed and/or offered the confluence of "feel good" factors that I experienced in Mundelein this morning. In summary, I have long had affinity for the ABC&E offerings. Having visited and experienced the Mundelein paradigm today, there is no going back to Vernon Hills in light of my exposure to a much enhanced, and appreciated, customer service approach and experience. This location is fantastic and highly recommended.
