I really don't see what the big deal is with this place. The breakfast menu is fairly well thought out the dishes are competently prepared. My Eggs Benedict was pretty run off the mill in flavor profile and it was soggy and greasy. The atmosphere was loud cramped and you felt rushed. Our waitress was not very good either. She gave my credit card to another guest to sign, had no personality, and messed up the order. If you like tourist trap places with the assembly line atmosphere this is your place. read more

Dog Friendly! We came with our five month old pup to the area, and not only did they allow him to sit on the patio with us, they even brought him a doggy bowl of ice water! the food was excellent and the service was friendly and diligent. The waitress was NO help. Rude when we asked if they had Dr.Pepper she says "umm no". After we ordered food came quick. I never got a refill. My cup was empty before the food came. I asked for one. My wife, mother-in-law, and I have eaten breakfast at the Broken Egg restaurant in Siesta Key village for several years while vacationing in Florida. Recently, we decided to have breakfast at the Broken Egg that is now under new ownership. There was no comparison to the previously owned restaurant. The food that was served this past January was absolutely horrible. We had burnt bacon and the waiter had an attitude when I asked him to remove it from the bill. Our waffles and pancakes were completely tasteless served with our weak coffee. We will not be going back to the Broken Egg in the future. read more

I was disappointed in the experience. We had to wait about 40 minutes for a table. Once we were seated, We ordered omelettes off the menu and after 20 minutes, the waitress asked us again what we ordered. It then took another 10 to 15 minutes to get our original order. The omelettes were just average, nothing special and certainly not worth the wait. No offer was made to provide a discount for the poor service either. Highly recommended by the locals. Location is fair. It was Monday morning so all of the food trucks were doing deliveries in this location. Noise and smog completely ruined whatever little ambiance there is. Not their fault but still part of the experience. Started with an app called City Grits. Never heard of this before. Grits, bacon, scallions, Gouda cheese and garlic. Sounds wack but is delish and could have been breakfast. We both had The Scramble. Combo of whatever you can think of with potatoes and an English muffin. All good. Way to much food after the grits. Could have easily shared one breakfast meal. Earlier Yelper said it was a bit expensive but being from DC I think the prices are fair for what you get. At the end, all told, just shy of $40 for two which actually is a lot for breakfast but in line with the few other breakfast spots on Siesta Key. Good food, very friendly service. This restaurant is hands down AMAZING! My fiance and I are visiting from Philadelphia and heard great reviews about this place so we decided to try it out ourselves. All we can say is WOW! We came in Sunday morning. There was a small wait but thankfully it passed quickly and their complimentary water station outside definitely is a great idea in this FL heat! We sat down and we're immediately greeted by our server Kelsey with a huge smile, she actually recongized where we were from due to y our accents and told us she is from Philly as well! She offered us some beverages and we decided on the pitcher of orange mimosas. They were so good! And just the right amount. Kelsey then brought us out some complimentary biscuit beignets, the sauce they make is delicious! Right after we finished the beignets our food arrived. It could not have been timed more perfectly. The tables are on the smaller side so I was thankful that everything didn't come out at once. Per our servers suggestion I got the Lobster and Brie omelette which I was told was cooked in a champagne butter. It was to die for! I also got county potatoes as my side which were cooked and seasoned wonderfully. My fiance got the Sausage and Fennel omelette and was sold on the city grits the minute she started telling us what they were. He said it was delicious! The restaurant was very busy, but despite that our food came out hot and fast and our service was absolutely wonderful. The only bad thing I can say about this restaurant is the bathroom situation. They have two bathrooms, a women's and a unisex. And unfortunately for the two tables by the restrooms, they are constantly dealing with a line of people standing, and waiting to use the bathroom. BUT aside from that, which is out of their control, everything else was amazing! Wonderful! Sooo good!!! We will absolutely be back next time we are on Siesta Key!!!!! God Bless! read more

We never got a coffee refill or a check up to see how our meals were - my order wasn't right and we wanted butter. But since we never saw our server, that never changed. Everything blew me away about this restaurant!!! Our server (I think her name was Lauren or Laurie) was phenomenal. She was so friendly to my two kiddos and made our first time there awesome! Even when it's raining, you can sit outside as the patio is completely covered. A nice, relaxed atmosphere. We started with the biscuit beignets, which were cooked perfectly with a homemade marmalade. Unfortunately, our meal order got lost in the mix. Nasty! Nasty! Nasty! My husband and I went for breakfast on Thursday morning. Our server was Elena, she was ok. I ordered a blt with avocado and fried green tomatoes- which I was so looking forward to eating. My husband ordered chicken and waffles. It had like 2 cutlets on top of the waffle. The bottom piece had to have been fried a couple of times and such a weird color and texture, never seen anything like it. The top piece of chicken was borderlined burned and gross looking on the inside. I could not believe that this was even plated and served. Mind you, we waited for 30 -35 minutes from when we ordered. We had to wait for the waitress to come back, showed it to her-she didn't bat an eyelash and asked if he wanted something else. We said no and left. No manager came by or anything. I did not try my breakfast cause I was so grossed out with my husbands breakfast. Just nasty. I will never go again nor recommend it to anyone! read more

This is not The Broken Egg you remember from years past! From the minute we sat down and weren't handed that whimsical broken egg menu, we knew something was wrong! Under new ownership! "another" run of the mill restaurant should be the name of this place. The server was miserable. Three things that came to our table were incorrect (i.e.white toast NOT wheat). When we complained to management, we were given free meal coupons which we promptly threw away. One thing positive: the food was good....if that's all you care about.
