So, I came to eat breakfast after church on Sunday. I was glad to see that Yelp offered me the opportunity to get on the waiting list in advance of my arrival. Score! The bad news is their poor timing and triage of their tables and bar area. The waitlist was 45-90 minutes when I arrived and the line to check-in was VERY LONG. Incidentally, there were several open (and clean) tables, with no patrons. First: The bar area is supposed to be 1st come/1st served for people to eat. However, I noticed that there were three people just having drinks and not eating. After waiting 30 minutes, I asked the person in charge of the waitlist about the folks at the bar (who were clearly not eating). She said that I was correct and only those dining should be seated at the bar. She further stated that the bartender was responsible for moving guests along if they were only having drinks. Sadly, she did not approach the bartender nor the patrons. I then asked the bartender about the same three patrons. Eventually, the bartender asked the guests to move. However, they declined. At some point, more patrons were crowding out the bar and we (intentionally) commented about the 3 patrons just sucking up useful seating. They heard us and moved on. Second: When I sat down at the bar, the bartender took exactly 18 minutes before she wiped the food particles, waste paper or used tea bag from my area. She even laid my clean set of silverware on the un-wiped, nasty bar area, which was disgusting! I actually had to ask her to please wipe the bar before setting me up with silverware, etc. really? Eventually, another server (Josh G) kindly removed the used dishes and discarded silverware from in front of me. I asked the bartender about taking my order and she said she'd be right with me. She proceeded to make 5 drinks for other patrons. Meanwhile, I asked Josh G. to take my order and he did so quickly. At some point, a Manager (Lisa) apparently saw my disdain and approached me. She apologized for the issues and offered me a complimentary mimosa, which was very nice. She also checked on me a second time, which was much appreciated. The food was fine. Two pancakes with bacon and eggs over medium. Sadly, the eggs were nowhere near "medium" but I'd waited so long that I dare not send anything back. Truthfully, Josh G and Lisa are the reason why this review gets 3 stars (instead of 1). They were both professional and efficient and made the experience less offensive. My recommendation is for the lady bartender to undergo customer service training, with a focus on cleanliness and proper table service. read more

From the time we were greeted at the door to our servers greetings to the bar staff and management, we could not have been More pleased with the service! Trevor (sincere apologies if I didn't remember the name correctly) was pleasant, made suggestions and was upbeat without being overwhelming. All of our food was amazing. Based on positive Yelp reviews, we chose Another Broken Egg Cafe as our first dining experience in New Orleans. We were there on vacation to watch the New Orlean Saints and Washington Redskins game (10/8/2018). I'm big on customer service, so I was pleased that we were warmly greeted and seated right away. We ordered the Sunrise Spinach Scrambler, Hey Lucy Omelette, Banana Foster Pancakes, and an order of the Biscuit Beignets. Our choice of drinks was coffee and apple juice. I'm glad to say that the food came out quickly and it was delicious! The internal and external decor was warm and cozy. We didn't get to enjoy sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch because we were too excited to get started on some sight seeing of New Orleans. I've had breakfast here several times now, and it's always been OK. I haven't been wowed, but it hasn't been bad either. The restaurant is clean, and bright, but the tables are close together, so when it's crowded it gets pretty noisy. I feel like everyone around you can hear your conversation and you can hear theirs. In the evening I'm more accepting of loud places, in fact I really enjoy being in a booming environment when the sun goes down, but in the morning I just want a quieter setting. The food is average, and I find the prices a little high for the quality. I must, however, highlight the staff. The folks that work here have always been very nice and my meal service has always been timely and super efficient. read more

I guess I will lead with my gripes... The service was a bit slow but the food made up for it! We were also promised a free order of beignet biscuits that we never received. On to the goodness... I started off with a Salted Caramel Spiked Cold Brew Coffee (with Baileys and Kahlua). It was so good that I wished there were refills. Definitely recommend! For my entree, I had the Shrimp and Grits which was full of juicy shrimp, andouille sausage, green onions, red peppers, cheese grits and a garlic buttery sauce. It also came with fresh garlic bread. I added the blueberry, lemon & goat cheese pancake to my meal and it was super yummy! It was easily my favorite during my first trip to New Orleans last week! Love the ambiance of this place. Outdoor seating on the wrap around porch is totally in place. The good: My espresso was very powerful & did not disappoint. The food was prepared to order & was delivered in a timely fashion; cooked according to my specifications. The crab cakes were flaky & lightly seasoned just right. The eggs were light, fluffy & palette-pleasing. English muffins toasted to perfection. Service with a smile is not on the menu, but is delivered. The not-so-good: With only 8-10 parking spaces in front the door, parking is a rat race. But off-street parking & residential parking are there to save the day. Went here with friends for breakfast 5/4/21 and was totally disappointed about the food! I ordered a Mardi Gras omelette with wheat toast which came to me as if someone had been playing around in it. ( see picture below ). When I saw the plate I asked the server what was this and she just looked at me and said a Mardi Gras omelette. I replied this is unacceptable it's completely messed over like someone was playing with it. Her response was so you don't want it because of how it look ( at that point ) my friend says ma'am you know this isn't right to even bring the food looking like that. So I then order bbq shrimp and grits - after the server basically made it seem as if the chef couldn't make a proper omelette - the bbq shrimp was ok. I've tried this place twice and it just doesn't do it for me. It's a tourist staple but as a native I know I can get a more flavorful brunch elsewhere. Now on my most recent visit I tried the mimosas by the the pitcher which was delicious and a decent deal cost wise. I keep trying the omelettes but I think they're sweeter brunch fare may be better. The beignet bites are good & I know you can get a free order on your birthday. The wait can get a bit crazy so be sure to call ahead and utilize the virtual wait list. Many places try to do too much with chicken and waffles, but ABEC kept it simple and delicious. The chicken tenders are crispy but oh so very tender, and the waffle compliments it so well. Yum.. I'm hungry. The serving size is plentiful and you will leave full/satisfied/content. Last time we were there, we ordered the Monterey omelet: egg whites, chicken, onions, green chiles, tomatoes, guajillo sauce, cheese and avocado... yummy. That omelet is sooooooo good!!!!!! Ahhhhh I am hungry now!!! Anyway. They have a side parking lot, but it is small (less than 15-ish spaces), but it is usually quite full. Parking on Harrison is OK if you arrive early or are lucky; otherwise, park on a side street. Another thing i love about ABEC is that you can join the waitlist from yelp. So you don't have to go stand in line; you go when you need to be there, checkin, then maybe wait a couple minutes for your table to be cleared, and be seated. The poached egg on top was everything! It slowly oozed when we pricked it with a fork; this showed that it was poached just right. The shrimp and grits was also cooked to perfection. Bite size shrimps and smoked sausages smothered in a Cajun style cream sauce sat atop a bed of buttery grits should definitely be the dish that everyone should at least try once. This dish was amazing! Our waiter was very prompt from beginning to end but unfortunately we forgot to get his name. Service is slow. 1 bartender on a sunday brunch service caused a backlog of drink orders for her. We waited 20mins at the bar while waiting for a table, before we were able to order a drink. Parking is difficult. Large menu with more than standard breakfast options. City Grits are delish. Cinnamon french toast is heaven on a plate. There are limited options in Lakeview for sit down brunch so this place stays busy. Expect to wait. With that said, there are other options not too far (Midcity or Metairie). The chicken was VERY good, the meat was soft and juicy. There was a chipotle honey sauce they drizzle on top but I had it on the side because I don't care for honey. The champagne sparkler cocktail was delicious and refreshing. The cost is reasonable about $12 for entrees and cocktails were about $7. There's a parking lot with about 8 slots but plenty of off-street parking also. There's also a bar and outside seating on the porch. The breakfast I had here was so good! Pecan and praline waffle with eggs n bacon(sausage patties option available). My date had strawberry shortcake french toast with bruleed sugar and thoroughly enjoyed it. I also got to sample the city grits. The combination of cheese, grits, bacon and onion was phenomenal. The iced coffee came out nearly white because it was mixed with so much milk. Apple fritter French toast was tossed all around. It had no type of syrup and couldn't have been any dryer. Awful. We received zero silverware. No napkins. No salt or pepper.
