The service here was above average. The coffee was very fresh and had a nice flavor. The chocolate milk was different than most places due to the effort that went into it. The toast was basic, which is not a bad thing. The real let down was the Hash Brown Benedict, the poached eggs on top were not prepared correctly and the stuffed hash browns themselves were so burnt that the cheese and ham in them were crispy. I went today and asked to sit outside. I was told the wait for outside seating would be 10 minutes. When 10 minutes turned into 20, my fiance went inside and asked what happened. They said our table was given away - no apology, just found us a table and cleaned it off. After they sat us the waiter came over and asked what we wanted. No introduction, no offering of specials just asked what we wanted to drink. I can understand busy, so I asked for recommendations to start a conversation. When the food came, my grits were cold. My waiter never came back by so I could tell him. He went inside and when he did come back out, he only serviced two ladies sitting near the door. He didn't come back over until I'd finished my meal. The food was good, but the service could definitely be better. Service could make the experience here much better. read more

Visiting the area. Thought I would try. It's located in River Ranch which is a fancy lil area with outside boutiques. Was seated outside so I could people watch. Was excited when I saw the menu. A lot of different variety and looked like unique dishes. I went with the Oscar Benedict. Had to send it back. I asked for medium it came out rare. My egg wasn't even poached and the crab was fishy tasting. Reordered for the Lucy omelet. It was better. Had a lot of chorizo inside. Definitely was a better choice. I also had a cinnamon roll. It's not Cinnabon but was tasty to me. Just thought it was overpriced. Service was poor. She forgot my coffee. Took to long to get my to go box. A fly landed on my cinnamon roll. So I couldn't take it home. She did take my oscar omelet off my ticket but was surprised how she bashed the cooks and told me that was there 3rd mess up. I don't think that was any of my business. Place was nice. I'm sure it's hit n miss with service. My advice would be to stay away from any seafood item. Was gona order shrimp and grits. Had to ask but they don't devein their shrimp. This place has its ups and downs. Some what a small establishment, always busy, so expect a wait time, especially on Sundays. The staff with okay, some were nice, and some were a bit snooty and rude. We had the following items: - Biscuit beignets - southern style beignets lightly tossed in powdered sugar, served with honey marmalade dipping sauce, this item is decent, the biscuit with the powdered sugar was sweet enough, i think the honey kind of tipped it overboard - Cinnamon roll french toast - cinnamon roll, grilled with french toast batter, layered with warm cream cheese icing, topped w/ banana's foster sauce, a mix of warm berries & whipped cream, this was delicious, somewhat sweet, but delicious and warm - Benedict Oscar - A grilled Sirloin steak atop a toasted English muffin finished with two poached eggs, sautéed crabmeat, asparagus and bearnaise sauce. This dish was delicious, except that I wished my eggs were poached correctly, and not over cooked.. ruined my whole dish, in my opinion.. - The Big Melt - A traditional patty melt on grilled rye with Swiss cheese & sautéed onions. The patty was very dry, end of story.. stay away from this.. I beg you.. - Grits with Cheese (side) - this tasted like instant grits topped with cheese.. please stay away from this horrid side.. This is one of my favorite places to eat. On the weekend you can count on a wait but during the week they are good about getting you seated quickly. Service can be a little slow at times but this is a place to go for a relaxing lunch, not something you hop in and out of. Also if you sit at the bar, they are pretty quick. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a restaurant. I ordered online and was told to pick it up 25 minutes later. However, it took a full hour for my food to finally come out, forcing me to wait for 30 minutes at the restaurant. Further, half of the food was cold, so we had to reheat it in the microwave. Sunday brunch was fantastic! It was so handy to get on the wait list through the yelp app. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival. Bloody Mary's are outstanding on a Sunday morning! We also special ordered a Mango Mimosa that was great. And our food was delicious. We enjoyed an order of beignets, and the Country Fried Steak Benedict with potatoes, as well as the Chicken & Waffles with City Grits. The service was impeccable; Madison was our server and she also made our Bloody Mary and special order cocktail. She went out of her way to make sure we were happy with our choices. Our Sunday brunch was a pleasant experience from start to finish. We will definitely be back again soon. read more

Great service and kid friendly. I was able to bring my toddler and 4 month old and didn't have an issue with space since we ate outside. The waitress was very accommodating to our large group and the few little kids we had with us. I ended up getting the smoked salmon Benedict which was very filling. One of the best restaurants I've ever been to. If you're touring through the city I'd recommend eating here. on weekends the wait time especially around noon can go up to 2+ hours when their wait list builds up, so I'd recommend getting there earlier in morning. 8am or before is ideal. The wait time on week days will go up to 1+ hours but it often isn't actually that long. You are also able to grab a drink at the bar while waiting for a table. It is completely worth eating here at least once and if you didn't have a great experience your last time then please give it another try. Sometimes crappy employees will get hired but they don't work there long once they realize how they work. and sometimes mistakes just happen some days. This location overall after eating here consecutively seems to strive to only have employees that genuinely want to be there and go above & beyond in being hospitable while still serving beautiful and delicious food The food is hot every time I order & the decorations that line the walls feature key aspects of lafayette culture and architecture that let you know exactly where you are and the history that comes with it. They recently changed out the chairs and tables for new ones and they look great. On top of that is the view from front windows/the patio is a remarkable view of the fountain surrounded by a roundabout and the well-kept landscape of river ranch. I don't even want to give 1 star. I order my Togo order at 10:03am on a Saturday. I clearly saw that the restaurant was not busy. There were empty tables everywhere. My order took an hour and 15 minutes. When I picked it up my order the shrimp Benny had no poached eggs. No fruit was in my bag. And the shrimp was just slopped in foil instead of some sort of container. There was no thought or order to my meal. Also when I returned to get a refund the manager did not come speak with me. The host gave me my receipt with no apology. No offer of filling my order correctly. It was quiet possibly the worst experience I've ever had in any service industry. read more

Visiting out daughter at UL and was hungry. It was too late for breakfast but not really hungry for lunch. Hit up the Broken Egg and was blown away. Place was super busy so had a 46 min wait but it was so worth it. I got the smoked salmon benedict, wife got the chicken and waffles, and daughter got the blueberry goat cheese pancakes and we all loved and swapped around the food. The chipotle honey was the bomb. I know we'll be back as the menu is chock full of things we all want to try. It's a bougie brunch place and is spectacular. Service was friendly and attentive. Food not up to par and service was horrible! I have eaten at Another Broken Egg in several cities and have always enjoyed the food and the service. At this location, we waited 10 minutes before anyone came to our table and another 5 minutes for coffee. Our waitress took our order and it was not an unusual order...2 orders of scrambled eggs, bacon, grits, and an English muffin. It took 38 minutes to bring out our food. Also, the first refill of coffee came just before our food came out. The English muffins were cold and they must of been short of eggs because I ate them in four small bites...and I mean small. The city grits were the only item that was plentiful and hot. We had also asked for an order of biscuit beignets to be served as dessert. Our waitress came to pick up our dinner dishes and informed us that the beignets should be ready, but if they were not she would taken off our order. About 5 minutes later, she said they would be out soon. We told her to take them off the order and bring the check. She did after another 5 minutes and then we had to wait for her to process the card. Total time from when we were seated to when we got our check was 78 minutes....for a basic bacon, egg, and grits breakfast. The manager brought the check and said she realized we were not happy. She said they had a party of ten and that put a stress on the restaurant. This is a large restaurant and if you can't handle a party of ten...don't open. We were not the only patrons who had to wait over30 minutes for their cold food. If you are in Lafayette Louisiana, find another place for breakfast. read more
