After reading the reviews I had to go to try the carrot cake. To my disappointment I was told of everything that wasn't available on the dessert menu which was four items. Very cute and chic atmosphere with great customer service! You order at the counter but they'll bring your beverage and food items to your table. I appreciated how the guy behind the counter asked if I wanted him to add some cinnamon in my chai latte - not all places will ask you and I usually forget to ask when ordering. Thanks for that!! Also, their spinach quiche was delicious!! Vegetarian-friendly and full of unexpected flavor (it's been awhile since I've had quiche ‍) Helpful tip: this is NOT a great place to try to get some work or studying done. Saw great reviews of this place so I decided to check it out and also agreed with other reviews. It's a nice small restaurant locates next to Baylor College of medicine clinic. They also have free parking right next to the restaurant. Food was good. Took the advise from the chef and ordered the pesto hummus and it was delicious. I also added the carrot cake for dessert and it was yummy too. Some places made it so dry but here she made is moist and adding the raspberries into it was a good choice. It's light, creamy, not too sweet, and has a really fun texture with the shredded phyllo dough. Order a spanakopita on the side - this is also a must. The outside is flakey and crispy while the inside is decadent, savory, and creamy. It tastes like the perfect savory pastry and has this buttery taste that makes you want to eat 100. Lastly, I've tried the chicken souvlaki plate with fries, which is also very good. Their proteins are always grilled to perfection and are never tough. It comes with a side salad and is a perfect balance of all the menu favorites. The owners are always there and are very nice, as well! Always expect welcoming and warm service. It came with three cup sized choices of soup- I got the lentil because I like lentils and it packs a lot of protein. Also it was a way generous portion for a cup- it's really a largish bowl- and tasted great. They have a couple cabinets of sweet breads and other desserts. I had to test the thick square of baklava. Very limited seating, however we did find a spot. Bight and inviting decor. Order at the counter. Notice all the sweet treats in the display cases as you check out the menu. I was good and didn't indulge, however I wanted to. Oh, I wanted to. I noticed they serve beer and wine and lots of coffee. Checking out the menu, they also have breakfast, soups and salads, sandwiches and burgers. I came right at the cusp of breakfast and lunch and noticed several mouth watering breakfast plates being brought to the tables. I ordered the American Greek Salad with chicken and it was delicious! I sampled their tzatziki sauce and I was in heaven. The owners, a married couple were hard at work taking food orders, making coffee and running food to and from the tables. They were an absolute delight! I began chatting with the couple next to us and they mentioned the establishment used to be in Sugarland. From the arraignment of assorted pastries to their homemade Slovaki chicken. Coming from Oklahoma; I was raised a certain way and I still live by it. "If it ain't broke. Don't fix it. " I've been here so many times and I've yet to get something besides their blasted breakfast sandwich with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, sliced deli turkey, cream cheese, scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, and slice of whole bacon. It's just a well balanced sandwich that I normally don't need anything else; but I'll usually opt for their addictive waffle fries. Get it. You're welcome. It's amazing. Though the syrup just bounded everything together. It softened the chicken's crust just a bit to where you could make a sandwich out of it. Ah-freaking-Mazing. If you get this and you fall in love with it, you owe me a couple of meals. Let's be real. The pastries here are all made by the owner's wife aka the real owner. She's humble, generous, and truly a genuine person. The tart was absolutely exquisite. The tartness to the custard ration was on point. I once didn't see it out on display and had low key mentioned it. She said they're ready but they wanted to sell the old stuff first before they put something out. They just needed to be piped and served! Seriously; that's customer service right here everyone. This is how you get repeat customers. TLDR; a hidden gem that you now know of. While this is a new restaurant in Upper Kirby, their first location was actually in Sugar Land before it closed down. We walked over so I'm not sure what the parking situation is like. Anonymous Cafe is a Greek cafe. The interior is super clean and modern chic with tables as well as some comfortable seating. You order at the counter and then they bring your food out to you. I see the cafe as both a place where you can enjoy a pastry/dessert and some coffee while studying/working and also a quick and casual sit-down lunch or dinner. We ended up ordering the pork souvlaki platter which is served with fries and a Greek salad. Along with a tyropita (cheese pastry) and their famous ekmeck dessert (similar to baklava in a sense and topped with sliced almonds), it was plenty for two. The food was good all-around and the service was friendly. I will say that it was a bit overpriced but still an enjoyable dinner. And the dessert deserves to be famous as it's delicious! read more

Just like old times, we ordered fredo cappuccino and ekmek. Fredo cappuccino's sweetness level can be adjusted, which is a plus to meet the needs of all customers. The foam on top is always phenomenal. Ekmeck is a vanilla custard pastry topped with toasted almonds. It was excellent! This time, we decided to also try the spanakopita, which is a crispy pastry with spinach, feta, and herbs inside. The outside was nice and flaky; the spinach and herbs went really well together. If you need an excuse to come even for just one thing, then come for the EKMECK!!! It is so heavenly! This is the cuuuuuutest cafe!!! Patricia, the owner, is as personable as you can get! The recipe for this special dessert is from her mother, Katina, and is displayed for serving in a Pyrex dish just like her mom makes it. We (obviously) got a piece of this delightful ekmeck and some baklava (delicious as well, a great 2nd place dessert!), but first, we enjoyed a wrap and the special of the day--some chicken with orzo and salad with the most fluffiest feta imported directly from Greece. A hidden gem for brunch! It is so close to Rice. I wish I had known about this place sooner. Parking is super convenient because there is a huge garage next door. The inside is beautiful. Very modern chic with good lighting. Good mix of couches and tables. You order at the counter. The desserts looked beautiful. I want to try them all. The owners are so sweet and helpful. They even offered to take pictures for us. I ordered the spanakopita and almond croissant. Both arrived hot and fresh. The spanakopita was very flaky, and the feta had a nice strong flavor. The strawberry butter that came with the croissant was to die for. I lowkey could've eaten it on its own. I couldn't taste any almond in the croissant, so it left something to be desired (wasn't even really sure if it was actually the almond croissant). My friends and I shared the Ekmeck dessert because everyone said you had to try it. While it wasn't mind-blowing, it was a unique dessert that I'm glad I tried. The cafe is well lit, and it is tastefully designed. It was a little loud inside so it's probably not the best spot if you plan to get some work done. The staff are very friendly and responsive. I ordered the Belgian waffle, with chives and white extra sharp cheddar cheese sprinkled into the batter. I also got scrambled eggs on the side. The food was plated nicely. The eggs were very flavorful. The waffles were cooked nicely as well. I like my waffles more on the sweeter side so I ended up using most of the syrup that they put on the side. The bread pudding is the most complex I've ever experienced with so many textures and flavors in surprising layers, it was like eating my way through a pudding earth and rock formation conceived by a culinary god. There's free parking next to the restaurant in the garage next door and connected to the place (again, see the pic-it's hard to describe). If you've gone past Pico's restaurant, you've gone too far. Now, for the goods: Cafe Mocha - very good, not too sweet and the coffee was brewed perfectly Lunch special: Greek lasagna - very tasty. It looks like it would be something that would be very heavy but it was oddly light yet filling. Salad - my favorite part of the meal honestly, and I'm not typically a huge salad lover (I like them but I couldn't just eat salad for a meal). I'm not saying the rest of the food wasn't good(just in case it sounded that way). The salad just had so much flavor and the feta! Yum!!! Potatoes- also good but by the time I got to them I was pretty full Ekmeck - I read so many comments talking about this dessert that I was really, really hoping it wouldn't disappoint, and it did not!!! So delicious without being too sweet or bland. They serve a very generous portion and I thought I might get tired of the flavor by the time I was done with half of it, but I ate ALL of it. We heard they have great Greek food and coffee drinks. Our son and daughter-in-law shared a two meat skewer Souvlaki plate with fries, Greek salad, pita bread and tzatziki sauce, they enjoyed the chicken skewers, my wife and I did one skewer of chicken and one of pork, both really good. My favorite part was the amazing coffee drinks we had, two of us got the Greek frappes and two of us got the Freddo Espressos....none of us had ever seen or tasted these particular drinks before, we tried each others and loved all of it.
