Stopped in for lunch today and omg this place is so good!! It's good homemade cooking and you will definitely leave with a full belly. I had the chicken salad on 7 grain bread and it was absolutely delicious. The homemade gourmet chips are fantastic. Usually I never get dessert when I'm out for lunch but I was watching the homemade pie board and one by one the pies were disappearing so I had to try one. I got the Washington cream pie and it was so good reminded me of a sugar cream but not as sweet. The crust was absolutely delicious and flaky. If you are in the Pendleton area you need to stop in and try this little gem. You will not be disappointed. read more

Today was our first visit to Anita's and we will be back! I took my kids (age 7 and 5) and the waitress was great with them. They loved their pancakes with bacon and my sampler (2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, biscuit and gravy, and toast) was beyond filling and delicious. The bacon was crispy and perfect (my kids each stole a piece). My 7 year old commented "the service was great too" as we were driving away. My parents and I were on our way to Indy from Muncie and we wanted to have breakfast on the way there. So I hopped on Yelp to see what I could find. Anita's already had several good reviews, so we opted to try it. I am so glad that we did. It was a Saturday morning around 9 am and it was busy. We were able to get a table right away, but after us people had to wait 10 minutes for a space to open up. The staff were so wonderful and friendly. Coffee refills were abundant even though the place was busy our food came out and was delicious. I highly recommend the waffles. My dad got the biscuits and gravy, which was very popular. My mom got a custom omelette and it was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend Anita's Kitchen as a great place to have breakfast or lunch. read more

It's just ok. Last time I was there I had a chef salad which didn't stand out and actually was rather bland.

I love this place! The moment you walk in, you can smell the food, and It smells amazing. The walls have pictures of the town from years ago that show old events and buildings, and it gives you a great feel of Pendleton. Serving was swift and Anita is very kind and would be happy to talk to you! The food tastes incredible as well. There is also not too much, not too little food to order from the menu. I really like this place. Great homemade food, great prices, nice people. And it's clean and looks nice. There were a lot of local folks there, and if this place was near our house, we'd go there all the time. All the breakfast food that the people around us were ordering really looked good, but my wife and I each got a pork tenderloin sandwich, which they hand-bread. It was very good, and the lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles were crispy, and it was huge, but the breading was a little thick. My wife cut hers in half and got a box for the rest, and I ditched the bun halfway through and finished mine with a knife and fork. I had a cup of homemade chili too, and it was very good. Next time we go there, we're going to get one sandwich and split it, and then get some homemade pie. One thing we thought was pretty cool was that none of the plates or coffee cups matched. read more

Anita's Kitchen was A-ok - we happened to be in town for a wedding and went for breakfast. The menu was filled with the regular breakfast fare and the restaurant was run by a friendly staff! The food was good and our coffee cups stayed full thanks to an attentive waitress! This is the perfect place to go and hang out with the locals...the place was busy and obviously well liked based on the number of people in this small town restaurant! If ever back in the area, we would return for another visit...we've heard they have a great breaded tenderloin for lunch! read more

Since my last review was removed I'll go ahead and post another one. The food was ok. I never stayed and ate in the restaurant because I was made very uncomfortable upon entry. I walked in a couple times and was stared at. Eyes followed me every step I made. It was very awkward. From that point on I only got to go orders and they too were ok. I stopped wasting my money there when I realized how terrible the owners were. And based on the fact my original review was removed, the pettiness continues. My S.O. And I stopped in a few months back for a late breakfast. To our surprise, they were closing soon; however, had we not read the sign, we would have never known. They seated us and told us to relax and take our time ordering, especially being our first time. I was super impressed with how welcoming they were to us. That is nearly unheard of in the food industry, especially when it's "closing time". The decor is so cute and very "country charm". It is somewhat small but the layout/seating is comfortable and spacious. The Biscuits and Gravy were pretty good, gravy was a little thicker than my preference (I like mine to be similar to the consistency of heavy cream); the fried potatoes (sliced), eggs, and toast that we ordered with it were as expected and delicious. The bacon was a little over cooked. The gals that work here make this place! Their positive vibes and smiling faces are contagious! This is in response to Dawn! We must be eating at different Anita's Kitchen's! I frequent this place at least once a week, and have never experience any of what you have described. My servers are always prompt when I sit down. How long did you wait? 2-3 minutes? Was the woman "sitting down chatting" maybe taking an order? I know sometimes the waitresses do that. Especially if they know a customer well. Or was it Anita herself, displaying great hospitality? The girl asked for your order before you even had drinks? That seems highly unlikely. I think the Corelle plates are cute! What's so wrong with them? Did the waitresses offer to fix your food??? I know they've done that for me before when something wasn't cooked properly. I hardly think shorts in 90 degree July heat are inappropriate. And how do "fat rolls" effect your dining experience?? How is $6 for a cheeseburger hellish? Maybe at McDonald's! But not when your burger is 1/4 lb and fresh. I KNOW the cashier asked how your food was! It was either Anita herself or the lovely, kind gal they have on the weekends. Both make it a priority to ensure customers are happy. How was your waitress rude? So rude she didn't even deserve a 10% tip? Did she bring you what you ordered and keep your drink full? Then she deserves at least 10%. You should only stiff a waitress if she flat out insults you. What was stinky??? The coffee or the tenderloins? I suggest on your next trip you try a club, or a hand breaded tenderloin! If something isn't right, I am SURE your waitress will fix it, if you can get past the fat rolls that is. read more

We decided to give this new restaurant in Pendleton a try...what a great find! The hand breaded tenderloin practically covered the plate and were not talking about a beat thin piece of meat. It was thick and juicy and the side of seasoned fries were a great compliment to the meal. I had "Al's Big Breakfast" which included 2 eggs, choice of breakfast meat, hash browns, toast and a 1/2 order of biscuits an gravy. . . Hot and tasty! After seeing Dawn's review, I was a little hesitant to have lunch here today. However, after reading the other 30 fantastic reviews, I decided to go ahead and give it a shot. Anita's is well lit, very cute and clean, and smells like home cooking. Three different waitresses made eye contact with me and smiled at me as we made our way to an empty table, and within twenty seconds another waitress appeared to wipe the table of any missed crumbs. She brought us menus and silverware, and told us our server would be with us shortly. Our waitress, too, was sitting at another table, taking their order (imagine that) and told us she'd be with us in just a second. She laughed with the table, finished writing down orders and headed our way. Not once did I feel neglected or forgotten. I ordered a cheeseburger, like Dawn, to see if perhaps it was just an off day for the kitchen. Bun, chips, and all. Less than ten minutes later my burger was placed in front of me on a cute and clean plate. The burger was cooked perfectly, juicy, and delicious. The bun was thick, but wasn't dry or tasteless. My server, dressed in shorts and a tshirt, asked several times if the food was satisfactory, and if there was anything she could get us. She seemed busy, not worn out, and always had a smile on her face. I didn't see any fat rolls that abolished my appetite. In fact, all the servers were dressed very appropriately for their job. The only fat rolls that bothered me were my own, but I have great cheeseburgers like those at Anita's to thank for that. The price and quality of food at Anita's is fantastic, and the service I've experienced at downtown restaurants pales in comparison to the hospitality of the staff at Anita's Kitchen. For a cheeseburger and Pepsi, my bill was incredibly reasonable. Fantastic food. Clean, friendly place. Eat here! read more

My friend and I "discovered" Anita's on a little toad trip. This little gem is well-known by locals and we weren't even seated before people started sharing their favorite dishes with us. We waited about 10 minutes before being seated, but what we saw was a place where you felt at home from the get-go! The menu of lunch and breakfast option was comfort food and included many selections I had not seen in awhile. We watched server continue go beyond for their customers.
