This diner is a greasy spoon! The staff is disrespectful to the elderly a long with an owner who condones their behavior. I cannot wait until they close. We were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken and given menus. Our server quickly came back with a very delicious cup of coffee and an ice tea. We didn't have to wait 10 min. and our breakfast was served. I was so hungry, I forgot to take pictures. I had the hash browns, egg omelette and the most delicious fluffy pancakes! Hubby had the sausage gravy and biscuit breakfast. He said his was good but after looking at mine, he was sorry he didn't order the same. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Excellent service, clean restaurant and great tasting food. We were seated promptly, told about the specials. Our server took our drink order and left us to make a decision with the menu. Breakfast and lunch home style comfort food. When she returned we ordered, (we both ordered slaw as one of our sides) our food promptly followed our slaw. The Anderson Grill is not a fancy steak house or some chic little cafe with portions sized for 6 year olds with deep pockets. Great value and taste! I like the pork tenderloin and usually order it to-go and it comes with 2 sides. The fries are decent (could be better, but better than many other places) as is the Cole slaw. The service is always good and the people are friendly...and the manager (possibly owner) seems to be active and engaged, which goes a long way in keeping things up to snuff. It makes customers subconsciously feel better about a place when the boss is present and visibly working. I consider myself a pork tenderloin "afficiando" and have tried them at basically every spot in town (and within a 40 mile radius, haha) and this place makes a great one. If you look at my ratings you'll see I give my fair share a one and two stars. I've been a Ruby Tuesdays Manager, KFC multi unit mgr, Carvel Ice Cream district manager. I'm a foodie, always send things back and am critical but helpful of bad servers. I always tip 30 to 50 percent because I know there are cheapos out there that don't deserve any service! Now, Anderson Grill Restaurant. If I managed this place I would put a loud led billboard that says best diner in the Midwest! Best servers in the world! I would show people what our food looks like because We've lived in Anderson for years and have driven by 1 million times and never to stop. One day I noticed the lot was full and I thought oh there must be something going on here. Came back about a week later. Corn beef hash scramble was the best I've ever had and I've had a lot of them. The pancakes I don't know what the secret is but I wish I knew. My wife's food was fantastic as well. Our server was so excited to see a new face. I took a menu home calling it my wish list. I cannot wait to try everything on the menu sooner or later. The only reservation I have is I don't think the coffee was that good. It seems subpar compared to a Dunkin' Donuts or a Stewart's blend. You start serving Stewart's in that place And business will double just on that. Cleanliness was top notch, I always observe staff working It was my career for a long time. I think these guys are missing huge night time diner opportunities. A pie dessert case, killer coffee The New York City deli smell when you walk in. I think I would make the motto " just say wow! ". It's simply not visible as you're speeding down scatterfield there has to be a reason to slow down. I know it's hard to run a 6 AM to midnight operation and I know it's hard to find workers that are dedicated and don't steal that show up that don't bring their problems to work. Premium pies and cakes would attract people from all over. There's no reason they shouldn't be Anderson's number one restaurant! It's that good! read more

I met up with some friends at the Anderson Grill for a cup of coffee. I took a couple sips and could not drink it.Taste like burnt water. After telling the waitress I don't like the taste she never gave me a ticket. I figured she did not charge me until I got ready to walk out. She handed me my ticket and I told her I took a couple sips but I did not like the taste. She had the manager speak to me. She told me you have to pay it cause it costs us money. Now I know one cup of coffee does not hardly cost anything. Maybe a few pennies. The manager has poor customer service skills. Go to the Toast Cafe in downtown Anderson if you want a real good cup of coffee. read more

This was my 1st time here I was not impressed. Ordered the special Philly cheese steak sandwich $10 with tax. There was very little meat on my sandwich and like only 2 pieces of green pepper. The sandwich did not really have any flavor to it so I ordered a side of Au jus that ended up being VERY salty. Fries were of the battered variety. You get 2 sides I choose soup of the day and fries. Soup! Anderson Grill is a terrific addition to restaurant's here. It is a welcome alternative to all the chain restaurants. I love to eat at locally owned restaurants. The Anderson Grill has daily specials. The food is very good and reasonably priced. Each day of the week they have a different soup. I love soup. the first soup I had here was the beef cabbage soup. It is so good. The staff is very friendly and attentive. All their soups are terrific. The owner makes them himself. They are not canned. This is not corporate food. Serious KUDOS to Anderson Grill today. Even at full capacity, they still ROCKED it out with getting people seated quickly and food out and to the customers tables in under 10 minutes. If that isn't enough to make you want to try them out, let me just leave a few pictures of some of my favorites. Banana Nutella mini waffles, Nutella Cheesecake Mini Waffles, Lemon Chicken Rice Soup (so delicious), Turkey and Cheese on a grilled butter croissant, fresh, hand battered onion rings and side salads so fresh it seriously tastes like the tomatoes and cucumbers were fresh picked from the garden. Our first visit to this cheery restaurant across from Mounds Mall. The remodel looks good. Decor is cafe-like. Our Alaskan Pike and Grilled Tilapia lunches were large and delicious. The pike was breaded. Both came with rice, peas(veggie of the day) and a choice of another side - salad with blue cheese for him, excellent chunky coleslaw in creamy sauce for me. read more

The food is average at best; the hash browns were already cool when we got our plates, the omelettes were unremarkable, and the pancakes tasted like they were made from the same mix as every other diner across the country. The floor seems to be the same tile as at Captain D's--dangerously slippery if you're in wet shoes, which seems to be a liability when the older crowd seems to be your target market (they're only open until 3 PM, so if you have a job, you need to find time on the weekend or in the wee hours of the morning to come in). Overall, for an excellent breakfast, go to The Toast instead. read more

Was here about 12:15pm today. Ordered liver and onions and a Coke. Liver was chewy. Waitress asked me how it was. I said "chewy". She said "under cooked or overcooked?" I said "Chewy". I've been eating here, twice a day sometimes, for a very long time. I've had about everything they have to offer and only a few times have I been disappointed in my order. Cleanliness and service are the best. Trust me, I've eaten at all the restaurants in town more than once and these people do it right. I've had coffee at ALL of them and this is the best. My eggs are done right as well as my lunches. If you come in and have a problem with anything, speak up, don't wait to post it on Facebook or review negative about the coffee, that's kind of balless. "Chewy Liver"....indeed. I witnessed a gathering from a local church on Sunday. They couldn't quit yammering long enough to give the waitress their orders. They constantly complained about the service not being very good and when they left they gave eight dollars tip on the table for nine people. What a joke and they all prayed before the ate. This was not the server's fault as this group was chaotic to start. All I can say is they must have given all in the offering plate, they demanded more from the waitress than their wives would have done for them I'm sure. One thing before I go, remember God has provided all we need to sustain us but He ain't going to cook your meals for you. Next time you pray over your meals, out, you might just want to ad a little something for those who do the cooking and serving...I don't believe I've ever seen God do that for anyone in my 75 years. This has been one of our favorite breakfast places for awhile, but we will never return. We got there late one day, 20 minutes to 3:00, and we were told the kitchen closes at 2:45 and asked what we wanted before we were seated. This had never happened to us. It was quite condescending and we felt more like an imposition instead of a customer, we left. There has never been a note on the door stating this, so how could we have known? I called today to speak to the owner about this, only to find out it was her that waited on us. She had several reasons to try and justify the rude behavior and I suggested she put a sign on the door stating the time the kitchen closes, the sign says they close at 3. Her tone was dripping with sarcasm and she refused to listen. I absolutely understand, and respect, the reasons they need to be out the door by 3 (their kids), all I suggested was a sign on the door and not treating customers that come in 20 minutes before closing like they have been somehow offensive. To keep business in a small town, that seemed reasonable to me and certainly did not make sarcasm necessary. read more
