Found this place with a yelp search and oh my. The breaded tenderloin was amazing. I'm originally from Indiana, in town visiting family. We don't get this sandwich in NC. This hit the spot. Hand breaded, fried to perfection. The heat fibally broke here, so I sat outdoors and enjoyed the breeze and the views. This quaint place is rustic, on a lake where you can rent kayaks, get bait and tackle, etc. They serve breakfast all day, as well. They serve canned drinks and bottled water. No ice is available. Staff are friendly. An older gentleman was wiping all the outside tables. Very relaxing lunch. I would come back, maybe to try breakfast. read more

This is a unique establishment that shouldn't be overlooked. Tucked in off of the road next to what I think is Shadyside Lake, Bobber's Cafe is famous for their B's and G's as well as their hand-breaded to order tenderloin sandwiches. My stop was at breakfast and I ordered my usual mushroom omelette. It was a delicious three egg omelette prepared with my cheese selection - American. Don't you judge me! It came with a huge homemade biscuit. I added a single pancake because the menu said that it was the largest, fluffiest pancake that I had ever seen. They weren't kidding. I'm not sure how you can even get a pancake this thick and it still be so light and fluffy on the inside. It was heaven. Served with warm syrup. Amazing little restaurant / shop for kill buck creek. The smothered breakfast was some of the best biscuits and Gravy I have had in a while. Grey Gravy with lots of large bits of sausage in it. Biscuits seemed freshly made as well. All with a great helping of the gravy. The staff was great. The place is cash only. read more

Bobbers is great. They have great customer Service, amazing food, and it may take a bit but only on their busiest. My only real complaint is their prices but the food is worth it. And their food are really big so you may not eat your whole meal but I still love this place and recommend going there a lot. Just order light. read more

Love this diner! It is in Shadyside in Anderson Indiana and it's a great spot in Summer to get some ice cream or to fish. the staff is so nice and helpful. Cute, quaint, little place with a rustic interior. Friendly staff and good food. Got biscuits and gravy, which was well seasoned, and a veggie omelette which was piled high with grilled veggies. This is a cute little place on a small lake so the ambience was nice. I went w a friend for breakfast and they have a nice basic menu. I ordered the bowl w biscuits, eggs, cheese and gravy. The bacon was nice large slices and crispy. Little lite on flavor, lots of cheese which I asked for and not overly hot could have been hotter but all in all I will go back! Tenderloin sandwich is awesome. So I love fried catfish and breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches, image my surprise when I ate this giant of a sandwich. Let's start off with the bun; super fresh and tasty, the mustard, lettuce, tomato, and pickles fit nicely within the confines of the interior of the bun. The tenderloin, however, does not even come close to fitting inside the bun. The tenderloin was breaded with what I think is a catfish/fish cornmeal based breading and deep fried. The size of this tenderloin was actually 2 times the size of the bun. The sandwich came out piping hot and one of the most favorable tenderloins I have had in a while. What a find! We had sampled their tenderloins a couple years ago at the Tenderloin Throwdown in Greensburg (a must see for any tenderloin lovers out there) and decided to check out the restaurant in person. It did not disappoint! Very friendly and attentive staff. It is housed in a former bait shot that looks out over the lake. You can even pick up some bait while you are there! Very clean too. I really do love bobbers but recently they raised their prices up too much to be reasonable. Goods food but too much for what it is.

Great food, tenderloin is massive, thick and crunchy. Gravy is like mom made it. Heather the server is exceptionally friendly in a busy atmosphere of take out , dine out and dine in. If you are looking for a friendly, hometown, family-run type of place, Bobber's fits the bill. I've been here twice in the last month & had the Bacon Lettuce & Fried Green Tomato sandwich each time. It's a filling sandwich with lots of bacon & crispy fried green tomatoes. My friends have ordered the breaded tenderloin each time & they have raved about it. It's also a large portion-- enough for two people to split. Next time, I hope to try their grilled cheese as they feature different types of cheeses & breads. I discovered a bonus today: strawberry lemon cookies @ 2/$1 -- a cheap, yummy treat! Came back a few days later for the "build your own grilled cheese." It was even better than I had anticipated-- many choices of cheeses & breads, plus you can even add ham or bacon. I had provolone & cheddar in Texas toast-- only $4.99 & it comes with chips & baked beans. I loved it! read more

After eating at Bobber's Cafe this morning and reading a recent, negative review, I have to put in my two cents. First off, to the individual who was complaining about what they thought was trash and equipment, you do realize we are lucky Bobber's is open at all? In case you've forgotten, we are coming out of a pandemic and the porch as well as inside are closed to dinning. A lot of local businesses couldn't make it and are permanently closed, so what if the porch is roped off right now, and there is a little bit of a mess? They have set up a tent on the north side of the building and you can sit there and enjoy what is an absolutely outstanding meal and view. Oh, and that would explain the plastic silverware. All orders are served for carryout so they give you the plastic silverware in case you want to take advantage of the tent. Yes, it is plastic and the food served in styrofoam and it would be nice to see a more environmentally solution but they are doing the best they can. We just have to be conscious of it and work a bit harder to recycle. Your review had nothing to do with a personal experience, You just wanted to complain about something.... Okay, rant over and now on to my review. I was born and have lived in Anderson, except for a stint while I was in the military, and I am sorry to say I have never been to Bobber's Cafe. This morning I rectified that error. Bobber's Cafe has the best breakfast in Anderson hands down! The food isn't the runoff the mill pre-made stuff most places grab at GFS and pass off as their own. Bobber's Cafe scratch makes their food and it is obvious when you take that first bite. I had biscuits and gravy and had a couple of eggs thrown on top. Oh my goodness, the portion sizes are humongous! What I was served could have served six hungry people. So needless to say, I have left overs for a few days. You can't see the biscuits through the sea of gravy. The gravy is chock full of chunks of sausage and is very flavorsome. Bland just isn't in their vocabulary. The coffee was average and tasted like it was Folgers or Maxwell House but that is to be expected when you have breakfast at a bait shop that is also a cafe. A gentleman at the a table close to me was enjoying a BLT and I have to say it looked impressive. I may have to go back for lunch and grab one. Everything I saw other people enjoying also looked very good and no one left hungry. Bobber's Cafe is on the shore of Shadyside Lake on the east side of the park and has a nice view of the docks as well as of the lake. They have plenty of parking. The staff is nice and very helpful. The prices are reasonable and fair. There is a good reason they have 4.5 stars. Do yourself a favor... ignore the bad reviews and go see for yourself. You won't be disappointed! read more

For a small town, locally run diner, this place certainly deserves 5 stars! It's unique and quirky. The staff is ALSO wonderfully unique and quirky. If you're looking for a true taste of Americana, this is certainly a good choice for you. Located on Shadyside lake, in a former bait shop, it's small, cramped, a little run down, a little worn around the edges...just the kind of place I love. It's got character. The food is outstanding! None of it is fancy, but it's all solid. The breaded tenderloin...a true, hand breaded tenderloin, stands up well against any in Central Indiana. Those fries were cooked just perfectly. Being able to dine while looking out over the lake and walking/biking trail is a nice bonus. It's tasty, quirky, and comfortable. A great experience for us. read more

Hi. We live about a mile away from Bobbers. They have the biggest tenderloins I have ever had. We go there also for the ice cream dessrts. The owner is great and so is his family daughter. They are polite and the joke with you and make you feel really glad you stopped in there. The treat you as if you were family. read more

OMG!!! So glad I made the trip here. My son got the smothered breakfast and I got the tenderloin. Both choices were absolutely amazing. The smothered breakfast was loaded with sausage gravy. And when I say, "sausage" I mean SAUSAGE! They don't skimp on the sausage and they don't skimped on the flavor. For the egg option My son asked for scrambled eggs with provolone cheese. They were scrambled perfectly and the cheese was melted nicely. The dish stays true to its word. The tenderloin was TENDER! I got it breaded with onion, pickle and mayo. An excellent choice as suggested by our waitress. It was amazing as well. Each bite was full of flavor and very juicy. If you want to experience Indiana, this is how you do it! Sandwich came with crinkly fries and they were cooked perfectly as well. Restaurant and service was out of this world as well. This is one of those restaurants that takes pride in everything they do. In addition, you can find many locals to talk to. We had a great conversation with the gentleman and his son sitting next to us. Let me just say that you can put a price on an experience such as this. Looking forward to the next time I return. I'll be bringing the entire family. If you want biscuits and gravy a half order is plenty for one person because the biscuits are very big. They charge a fee for credit card use (75c?) which I did not realize because we sat outside to eat and I didn't go near the cash register until after my credit card had already been run through. read more

The key word? Homemade. We pass by the building frequently, both when driving down Alex Pike and when walking on the park path, and so we stopped in when I had a rare weekday off. They offer breakfast all day, so we decided to try the breakfast burrito and home fries. Both were homemade from scratch, and excellent; the potatoes were tender but didn't fall apart, and weren't scorched or overcooked either. The burrito was generous enough to share, and came with a side of homemade pico de gallo and homemade guacamole (two things I have a hard time turning down).
