Anita's is an old school country diner decorated with historic photos of Pendleton. Regulars drink coffee and shoot the bull. Plastic table clothes covered the tables. The place is spotlessly clean. The service is unbelievably friendly. our server, Monica, was non-stop funny and efficient. The menu offers breakfast and lunch traditional options. Prices are old school reasonable. I ordered 2 eggs, bacon and toast for $6.50. Bacon is served floppy, crispy or perfect. I took perfect and it was. Food came out quickly. My eggs were cooked perfectly as well. Overall, a perfect breakfast. As we checked out, the clerk told us a joke. I won't ruin it for you by telling you the punch line. Anita's has two private rooms for meetings or parties. I ordered a breaded pork tenderloin which was nicely seasoned. The meat was moist and flavored well. I would definitely recommend it. The only reason for the four star was the seasoned french fries. I did not find them to be well seasoned at all. Plus they were very limited in the amount you received for an extra cost. The service was friendly and quick. My mom and I were in the area today. Found this place on Yelp. On arrival we knew it would be a good place to eat because local Emergency service crews were enjoying Breakfast at the diner. We noticed the seating was comfortable. The Diner was clean. The service was friendly and personable. Quickly noticed and loved the fact it had customers who obviously in Diner Dailey. Food was cooked to order and tasty. Never had to ask to get are coffee refilled. Watched several people in Diner eating a variety of Breakfast items and no one was going away disappointed. Passing through town to visit relatives and stopped for breakfast at Anita's, food was classic basic breakfast, nothing fancy and tastes just how you want it to. Like you woke up Sunday morning as a kid to your parents making a breakfast spread. Our service was excellent, our server was incredibly sweet , full of energy, and great at connecting with her tables! Stopped in this morning to grab a bite before a jazz band contest. Place was PACKED so first sign of a good place. Open seating so I found a spot. Server was over within 2 minutes I'd sitting down for drink order. I had the "build yourself omelet" I did the all-the-veggies plus a side of hash browns. Food was out in under 10 min. And tasted great. Hash browns nice and crispy. Omelet full of veggies. Their choice of coffee could use a rethink :), tastes like Folgers:( but I can hit the coffee shop down the street for my coffee. I'd recommend this place for a great breakfast and their lunch menu looks good too. read more

Our first time here . We had great service and the food was great. I had the biscuits gravy which I love for breakfast. It could have been a little hotter but was fine. Our waitress was great and when my husband had a problem with his eggs ( he doesn't like a runny yellow ) she got it taken care of right away. Will defiantly go back to try something else. read more

This place is probably my favorite restaurant in the Pendleton/Anderson area this trip! It started off with a cheerful friendly waitress and down-home atmosphere even though it's just a corner spot in a small strip mall. The food was about as reasonably priced as I have found so far, more like what I remember experiencing on previous trips. It had the variety that I like to see which included pork tenderloin, cream pie, and even fried mush on the menu. I didn't get there till about 1 o'clock but was still in a breakfast mood so I ordered a breakfast combo that included two eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, toast but no potatoes which I have been avoiding lately anyway. I was delighted to find raisin toast was one of the choices and I'm so glad I got it because it was absolutely delicious. I got a side of fried mush for $2.59 and a cup of delicious coffee. Plus a piece of sugar cream pie to bring home and eat it later. They call theirs Washington cream pie and say that it is a little more custardy than regular sugar cream pie. Rather than having only one waitress I had three or four different girls stop by to bring me food, refill my coffee, bring me a to-go container etc, which I kind of liked. The owner even offered me a cup of coffee to go which I appreciated. Everything I ordered was delicious. My over easy eggs were just right, the bacon was crispy and delicate, the fried mush had a crunchy outside with a soft inside, the raisin bread toast was crispy without being dry and definitely not soggy like so many places. I asked if they had anything on the menu that combined pork tenderloin with breakfast and was told I could swap a chicken fried steak for pork tenderloin if I wanted it so I will definitely be going back to try that. They are open every day but Monday and close about 2pm. read more

Locally owned diner on Water Street off the pike...occupies the former Daddy-O's "Italian" place. The food is honestly just a 3-3.5 star affair for me. Don't get me wrong...it's tasty and filling and the place was jam packed with locals on a Saturday But it isn't anything much different than what you would be expecting foodwise. Think Waffle House/Perkins/Bob Evans but local. What brings this up a star is the exceptional service...absolutely top notch! Quick to ask if we needed anything, refills, very friendly, etc. Order fulfillment was right on the money for our party of seven, etc. The plates/cups/silverware essentially are all mismatched, probably a cost savings measure but a neat touch. And the overall cost was CHEAP. As in great value cheap. You just don't see these numbers on the menu very often. Another reviewer mentioned use of some canned ingredients...I would concur. A bit more time in the kitchen here would be good. The pancakes are very large and a standout...1 pancake really is plenty if supplemented with eggs, etc. There are a lot of good things happening here...I would like to see a bit more attention to detail on some ingredients but we will definitely be making this a stop on the breakfast circuit. read more

We have been searching for two years to find a breakfast home since moving to Indiana. Who knew that 15 minutes from our house would host the best breakfast I have had in 20 years. If you fail to try the corn beef hash then please just stay home. Nothing is better than homemade corn beef hash and they have even done better than my grandmas best attempt at corn beef hash. It is difficult to impress my father in law with a place for breakfast. Today I have done that and probably just received approval for marrying his daughter 12 years ago. Super friendly staff that made sure we had what we needed. Instead of just being checked on by one person, we had many people come by and refill our drinks and make sure the food was good. We're breakfast people. We seek out everything from the oldest diners to the new and the hip early morning eats. We live about 15 minutes from Pendleton and have heard about this place for a while. We decided to check it out recently. My husband ordered typical "breakfast fare" with a few eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. He enjoyed it and thought it was a bit more upscale than a lot of diners you'll go to around this area. It is also clean on the inside, which I find incredibly appealing. I had corned beef hash. I'll warn you now, it is one of my favorite foods of all time. That being said, I realize that I'm ordering corned beef hash in small town USA and that I'm not in a big city. It was definitely a delish meal! I enjoyed it, the eggs were cooked perfectly to order, and it tasted fresh and made to order, for sure. My complaint about it would be that it wasn't the most traditional hash, and that there was very little potato, and very little in the way of veggies (I enjoy a hearty hash with lots of peppers and onions). It was still really good and I'm glad to even have a "hash option" locally. The coffee was very traditional diner coffee, and I like that. The staff was friendly and attentive, which was great considering we were there early morning on a weekend day, which is very busy for them. We never felt looked over and I never had cold coffee, which is a good judge of service to me. We'll be back again soon! read more

The breakfast there is to DIE for. Staff super friendly and the food comes out very fast for how busy it can be at times.

Stopped by Anita's around 6am on a Saturday and I was reminded of Hoosier Hospitality. The place is incredibly popular at that hour. Not too busy that you wait around watiing for your server to greet you, but popular. The parking lot is quite full, and probably about 60% of the tables are full with friends catching up and getting thier weekend started. Even if you are a stranger to these parts be prepared for friendly conversation with the other partrons and for the "come back and see us again" invite even from the patrons. I asked our server what her favorite thing on the menu was and the prompt reply was thte biscuits and gravy. I had already had my eye on this and needed no further convincing. I went for the Big Al which is a full farm breakfast of eggs, potatoes, meat, along with those biscuits and gravy. The coffee was better than some coffee houses and the cup was never left even half empty before a warm up was provided. My wife went for the pancakes and was pleasantly surprised by the cake that was larger than the stretch of her hand. We will for sure go back for another as there are plenty of things to explore on the menu. I haven't had a Manhattan in ages, I'm going back just for that! read more
