Most gluten-free options taste like an apology. This one tasted like a birthday…read more Saturday morning, my wife decided to celebrate her birthday a little early. Indiana gave us sunshine you never take for granted and temperatures to match, so we headed to Invited to the Table in Pendleton, a quaint little coffee shop with beautiful decor. Here is what won us over. My wife needs gluten-free, and finding a place that takes that seriously is harder than it should be. They will tell you straight out that they are not a gluten-free kitchen, and then they take the safety measures to care for somebody with celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity better than places that claim to be one. Then there is the team. Riley, Nina, Holly, Bella, and Hannah were so friendly and so accommodating that the food almost had competition. Almost. My wife had a gluten-free waffle that actually tasted delicious, then a pastry a friend bought for us, and she ate until she hit the sugar coma wall, happy as could be. So here is our verdict, and my wife vouched for it herself: if you are anywhere near Pendleton and want great food and great coffee, go. And if gluten-free is your world, Invited to the Table may be just what you have been looking for.

The omelette I ordered tasted very good but when asked if it came with toast I was told no, you have to buy that separately. So for almost $3 I bought toast, which came burnt with cold butter on the side. "Do you have any jam?" No, we don't have jam or jelly. They have gravy in the menu but don't offer biscuits. Really, they need to go to Anita's Diner just around the corner and see how it's done. I will certainly never be back.

As I was coming home from Ft Wayne I was detoured through Pendleton…read more I remembered I had an Italian place marked on my bucket list on Yelp- WOW- honestly this was the best Italian meal I have had in Indy! It is worth the drive!!! All pastas are made fresh. The staff was so friendly and accommodating! They have a piano player as well...what a treat! I sat in the back corner and took it all in! The food was outstanding, I ordered Linguine Frutti di Mare- homemade linguine ( delicious) served with clams, mussels, scallops? Shrimp, cherry tomatoes, evoo, garluc, parsley cooked in a white wine sauce!!! As you can see I absolutely hated it... lol! I has an expression and lava cake for dessert. The lava cake was a little overcooked- that is the only complaint.... Other than the lady sitting across the table from me that talked loud enough for the whole restaurant to hear her conversation. I wish people would be more observant and realize they don't have to talk so loud when they're sitting at their table it made it difficult to hear the piano player and it went from a relaxing stress free feeling to an annoyance. I was so happy when her food arrived. This place is very special. It's very small. I got in because it was very early in the evening. I believe their doors open at 5 o'clock. I would highly recommend reservations, but if you have a special occasion that you're celebrating, and it appeared that several people did this is worth the drive!

8.2/10 overall. My partner and I mainly went for the cheese wheel experience. The experience comes with either rigatoni or Alfredo noodles with Guanciale. The noodles and sauce were good but the pork cheek was not for us. 1/2 of the bites were pure fat. The rest of the meal was outstanding including the calamari/shrimp appetizer, Caesar salad, and the caprese salad. We already talked about going back to try other main courses. They had 3 options for nonalcoholic mocktails/drinks so that would be an improvement they could make especially for the non drinkers that would still like a NA wine pairing with a nice Italian dinner. You can bring your own with a $15 corking fee. The ambience was relaxing and romantic. They had orchestral music of popular songs so it was fun guessing what songs they were. There was a piano in the center of the restaurant and the mood lighting made the place seem even more cozy.
