Pre-ordered for pick on the way home from work. Made it just right before closing. They were very nice and asked right away if we needed help. Got a baklava as well the triangle one. I enjoyed the food. Was able to substitute a side for more rice at no extra charge,appreciate that. I got a side of recd cabbage which I Loved with the pita. They gave us a whole pita per person plus extra again appreciate it you can never have too much pita bread. Rice did need a little more flavor but the meats had flavor so it went well together. The reasons I gave 4 stars: 3.5% credit card fee. Altho there's a sign saying 3% fee, but the receipt came out to be 3.5%. Also, when it's 90 degrees outside and they don't turn a/c on, I have no faith in their food safety. It was really hot inside. I stopped going to all restaurants that don't turn a/c on in the summer. The owners are very nice people and they just celebrated their 30th anniversary in business which is no small feat. My friend and I ordered the chicken kabob sandwich and I requested a side of fries with my order. The sandwich was good with big chunks of chicken but lacked more vegetables to give it a balanced flavor combination. Came here tonight for the first time. My meal (chicken plate) was ok. I didn't have much expectation but enjoyed it just the same. The portions are nice and large, and I esp loved the rice which has a nice flavor. Just don't look at the kitchen (looks super dirty in the back), and you're good. My only wish as a sit in customer is that they would close the front door.... We were shivering as we ate our meal. I have been coming to this place for many years. I ordered a falafel sandwich and it was ok. No tomatoes, cucumbers, just onions and lettuce. The customer service is abysmal. They have no sense of what it means to have good customer service. It's not even basic, its simply awful. Again, another place that can't even offer a free drop of water, even if your choking. The week prior to today, I ordered a catering package. Again, it was ok. The salad was ok. It was not savory, the dressing lent nothing to it. It was just vinegar and oil, no real flavor. Again, the rice pilaf included was basic. Nothing extraordinary. I was wondering why there was so much leftovers and after thinking about it, none of the people in our party went back for seconds even though it was free for them. I also ordered a packaged cranberry cake. It was ok. Too sweet. But ok. Very heavy. Again, not worth buying. The one thing that always brought me back to Ani's was the hummus. But this time it was ok. Not what I remember. It was watery.The stuffed grape leaves were fine. Nothing to write home about. In fact, the canned Trader Joe's version is actually better. This is a major disappointment as I had always loved this place. Such a shame. My hometown staple is now just a basic restaurant with so so flavor but no more soul. My family has always been fond of this place and I have nothing but high praises for their delicious food but as they say "there's always a first time". Sure enough, it was f***ked up! I was here yesterday and ordered for 1/2 chicken, I always go for the thigh first since it's my favorite part of the chicken and to my surprise, my order doesn't have my favorite part. Picture will show. I asked the lady in the cashier who took my order, she then asked the gentleman in the kitchen. I don't understand what they were talking about because they were speaking in Spanish. She was just insisting that it's 1/2 chicken and keeps repeating it to me. I understand I ordered 1/2 chicken but that's not what I got. I don't usually rant like this but it was very frustrating when you wanted to end your day with something you've been craving for and was looking forward to a sumptous meal. Sadly, that wasn't the case for Ani's on that day. I just decided to leave and say no more to them since were just going around in circles. The lady with the short curly hair lacks customer service BIG TIME! I called yesterday at 12:30 to order the combo plate because I saw their website and menu online and thought they looked so good and was excited to try it. On the menu it says if you get the Combo kebab plate, then you choose which 2 kebabs you want. When I called, this cashier "Anna" picked up, so I told her I wanted the combo plate, and she quickly said, "it'll be ready in 20 minutes" and almost hung up on me, but I said "wait excuse me" and I asked her if she's going to ask which 2 kebabs I want, and I asked her "how will you know which 2 I want?". She responded saying "that only comes with chicken and beef". So I told her if she can ask someone, maybe her manager because on the menu it says "your choice of 2". And she told me "I've been working here for years, I know that it's only chicken and beef". So I asked her, "can I speak to a manager, because I'm the menu it says that I can choose". And she told me that all managers were out at lunch (how convenient). So I asked her "when can I call back to speak to a manager?" At this point I just wanted someone who would actually help me out. When I asked that, she said "I'm very busy, I have a lot of orders, do you want something or not?" And I told her no, and then I asked her for her name and she told me supposedly "Anna". At this point I just decided to eat at Zankou Chicken, so I called in there and they were very helpful and food was good, but I still wish I got to try Ani's, but the cashier was not being helpful or competent and honestly quite rude when she told me she's very busy because she made me feel like she didn't want to deal with me. So later around 6 PM, I called again to ask to speak to a manager, and "Anna" picked up, and right when I asked that question she said "you're still calling? Don't you have a life?" Then she hung up on me. So I called again, and a man answered and I asked him if he was the manager, he said no, the manager isn't in currently, so I asked him if with the combo plate I'm able to choose my 2 meats and he said yes, so I told him my frustration with "Anna" telling me that it's only chicken and beef, and that she knows because she's been working there for years. And when I said the man said that "Anna" is actually a new cashier that hasn't been working there that long. So I will keep calling until I speak to a manager about this and as long as "Anna" is a cashier there, I will not be eating there. Terrible cashier and service. read more
