Wow! What a gem this place is! My family and I were in town for the weekend and was looking for a good brewery to grab a beer for the adults and some root beer for the kids. We have two young children (ages 2 and 8) and this place was not only super friendly, but they engaged with our kiddos and let them play with the various toys they had there. We had a blast. Great beer, great service, and great people. They were so accommodating with our kiddos and provided a great place to relax and have a good time. Will definitely be returning! read more

From the food that went by I should have ordered the fish fry - it looked superb. Beer is good, though service could be a little faster. My burger (see photo below) had good flavor. The hummus ordered by the person next to me was quite good but the pita bread was not fresh - could have been revived a bit in the oven. The Wisconsin cheese curds were reasonably authentic (I'm a Cheesehead), fairly fresh though not squeeky as they should be. Food and service were as good as the beer! As an IPA fan I can attest that their low IBU, west coast style Class VI is superb!

We had our dog with us but we were able to sit at a picnic table on the side of the brewery. The selection of beers was great, the spinach salad was fresh and loaded with bacon, and the Smelter chicken sandwich was delicious. It was nice to have more healthy options to choose from. Not impressed. The bartender made us feel bad for just showing up. Didn't pay much attention to us and when we were placing an order, he bend down to stretch... Interesting experience to say the least. The only people he really talked to were some of his friends sitting at the bar. He also didn't wear mask and overall didn't seem to care about working in the HOSPITALITY industry. As a beer fan that likes to try a flight first before going for a full pour, I have to say that it was disappointing that less than a half of the beers on the menu were available... Beers were good. Patio is small but nice. The one thing I have an issue with is in this picture. A dog friendly town that won't allow a dog on the patio. Of a brewery. This is what we have to do to be separated from our group, sit in the dirt with our dog and hang over the side rail getting splinters in our arms, instead of him minding his own business in the corner of the patio. Literally every time I touched the rail I got a splinter. Don't come here if you have Fido in tow. Otherwise, seeing the train go by was cool and service was good. read more

Went there on 9/19/21 for lunch. We very excited to come here after looking at their menu. When we walked in they are opened tables and decent size patio. So you have to wait to get seated but then you have to go back inside to order everything. Then they ask where you are sitting. So you have to give them the area where your table is. We ordered the boxcar red, which was more of a hoppy red. Nothing special at all. For food we ordered the Pastees. When they came out we saw they were hand pies. We ordered the Irie and Banged Up. No flavor at all. Learn how to season. This just was not good at all. There is no customer service at all. So why did I tip? Good area near the park. But that's it. read more

The great: Loved the outdoor space. They are actually seating inside again as well. Cute place, super clean bathrooms. Very family friendly! The not great: Parking was weird. Super tiny lot that looks like you should not be driving there and then on the street. They make you order at the front and seat yourselves, but the menu you're supposed to order from has no prices. Also the drink menu isn't accurate. Actually don't even look at it, just look at the chalkboard at the front. Most of the offerings were IPA style, not my husband's preference. And no sours, so I did not order a drink. This place has not figured out how to successfully work around the covid situation. There is no actual service. I keep tipping like normal, but sometimes I get crabby about it. Nobody ever asked if we needed anything. I had to go get more silverware because my children were not given any by the oblivious "waitress." And we never got more water. Other restaurants in town were much more enjoyable than this, and also safe. And none of the ladies working there were particularly friendly. A good attitude can make me overlook ineptitude. The prices on food are ridiculous. Pasties are supposed to be the "working man's lunch." It's like a PBJ for adults. We've spent time in UP Michigan, they should not be this pricey. We ordered 2 anyways, because vacation, and the cottage pie version was pretty good. The Irish version was ok, primarily because we didn't order it. I wanted the traditional, but didn't want to wait for the correction. Also nobody ever came back to check on us. The corned beef was pretty chewy, and was cut too large. Corned beef is not particularly good to begin with so I thought it should have been sliced finer. And there was just way too much cabbage. Another great brewery in Durango, CO! It was a nice sunny but brisk day, so enjoyed some beer and appetizers in Animas' outdoor patio. It's hard to find breweries that make a good Kolsch. I tried their Riverside Kolsch, and they delivered. Very malty and refreshing! Tried their wings, but was slightly dry. Cheese curds were crispy and melty on the inside! Overall a great brewery and will come back to visit if I'm in Durango. read more

Cute, dog friendly place right by the River on Main Street. Animas Brewing Company has great prices for their craft brews and growlers to go. This was definitely one of my favorites breweries in Durango. ABC also has free parking and ample room for bicycle parking. Sorry guys, I did not try out the food on the menu, just the beer. Right now they are only offering outside dining due to Covid 19, but they have plenty of shaded areas. read more

Great place for good food, hanging out and cold beer. We ended up here three times during our week long stay. Ty the manager was very helpful with giving us tips on where to go and places to hike in Durango. The waitress - Chelsea was also very nice and made several suggestion from the menu that were delicious. They have a great patio where you can sit and watch everyone heading into the park. Turned out their definition of dog friendly is to make the dogs sit in the outside of the patio in the sun. I was craving a burger and a cold, frosty, beer. I stopped here hoping to satisfy my craving. Unfortunately, I have to say this place sits between unimpressed and disappointing. The beer was good but the food and service was subpar. I ordered a burger and when asked how I wanted it cooked, I answered medium (still a little pink in the middle). When asked if I wanted chips or salad, I chose salad. What I got was an over cooked burger with absolutely no flavor, and a pile of wilted lettuce with 3 half slices of cucumber and 4 quarter slices of dried out looking tomato. My waitress (she was actually the bartender) never checked on me after I ordered. Another bartender offered me another drink and later closed my tab. I'd be inclined to give a 1-2 star rating but I'm hoping that their other food might taste better and their actual waitresses provide a more hospitable service. read more

We weren't a fan of standing in line for drinks, then again for our meal. Unfortunately I got behind a huge family ordering several tickets. They started a new line but didn't pull anyone that already standing there. Once I got to the front of the line I had to wait for all the drinks that were ordered by the large family made & delivered first. I waited over 10 minutes, was the only person left in line but no one was there to help. After a few more minutes I gave up and walked back to the table to hopefully still drink my beer while it was cold. Casey (waitstaff) saw I had got upset & walked away. Waitress lost interest in us as soon as we said we needed a minute to think about what beer we wanted. Heard the waiter at the table across from us explain in detail specials and beers to his table. She took that order without saying anything or asking if we had questions. She delivered our appetizer and took our dinner order while watching everything but us. Never looked at us. Then delivered our food and forgot about us again. We wanted to ask questions about their brews but she left as soon and as quietly as she appeared. Had to flag her down half way through our meal for water. She never even came back to take our beer order so we never ended up trying any of their beers. Disappointment. She even had someone else bring us water...several minutes later. Dropped off our ticket without asking how things tasted or if we wanted to try that beer. Food: We ordered the Corner Pocket appetizer and decided to share two types of pasties, Traditional and Bang it Out. The beer cheese dip for the appetizer was lacking any real flavor. The house made chips were very tasty. Only tasty thing we had. The real disappointment though was the pasties. Both were crispy on the outside and raw dough on the inside. The Traditional has beef sirloin meat and that was cooked nicely. Everything else was under seasoned. The one with bangers and mash was just mush. Like baby food. No seasoning. The house made ketchup tasted like ketchup, nothing special. The house made mustard was yummy and I had to put it on everything to just get some darn flavor. The house made ale gravy was just simply gross. I've had never had a house made ale gravy taste so bland ever. Needless to say we didn't finish our food. Wish I could review the beers which I'm thinking is what gets the reviews maybe? Just never got the chance. Did not enjoy the food at all. We ordered 2 burgers. One with"house made chips" and the other with $3 00 upcharge for potato chowder soup. Were not asked how we wanted burgers cooked and don't think it would have mattered as they were pretty crispy overdone. Bun was overly toasted and was pretty hard as well. They have no fries or tots so ordered the chips which had no seasoning at all. None. Not a pinch of salt or anything. Otherwise could have been good. Soup was cold, very very small portion with 2 large pieces of potato that were not bite size at all. No straws brought, no spoon for soup. Only thing that was good was sarsaparilla bbq sauce which drowned out burnt burger taste. Clearly they don't give a shit about food quality as this is a beer joint. I'm giving this a one hoping to adjust the overall rating. It was between a 1 and 2 star. To start their menus (both the QR code and printed menu) are wrong and list items they don't actually have and you don't know this until you go to order at the bar. We ordered burgers, fish and chips and a grilled cheese and waited at least 20 min for our food. The burgers and grilled cheese were mediocre at best. The patties were dry and mine had sauerkraut and thousand island dressing and was still tasteless. Not sure how it got such a high rating. read more
