Shared the bbq sample platter, which was fantastic. The gochujang pork belly was hearty and not too fatty at all, well flavored and spicy. Hot link sausage also perfectly cooked and spicy. Enjoyed the ribs too. The side crispy chicken salad was phenomenal. I have never chicken this good, seriously. The salad was refreshing and hearty, well dressed. A meal in and of itself. Cannot wait for their brick and mortar joint!

Was so looking forward to BBQ ribs and pork belly. Unfortunately Animales changed their menu to comfort foods instead. Tried their mac and cheese bowl with Kramarczek sausage and a pair of pork tacos. Mac and cheese was ok but the topping of jalapeños was a bit overwhelming to the sausage and Mac and cheese. The pork tacos were much better. Good flavor and plenty of meat. Tomorrow is their last day until next season. Hopefully next year they will return to their bbq roots.

Simply the best BBQ in the Twin Cities at the moment. Don't miss their popups and special events.

BBQ is one of our favorite foods. We traveled all around MN and the Country trying different BBQ places. We finally made our way to Animales. I like the fact that Animales is a food truck as it reminded us of visiting some of the BBQ in Austin. We had also planned on visiting another BBQ location so we just picked up some ribs and brisket today. They did not have a beef rib as an option otherwise we would have also picked up one of those. Everything looked great and was packaged well. We were quite pleased that a few burnt ends were included with our pound of brisket. My first rib was OK. Pretty sure these were baby back ribs. My first rib, the meat all pulled away from the bone. I prefer a little more chew. The next ribs were better. Good flavor and pretty good bite. Not overly smoked and seasoned pretty well. Not oh my gosh good but pretty solid ribs. The brisket was also solid. Could have smoked a bit longer to render more fat but was still pretty tender and had a nice smoke ring. Their sauce is a tomato based sauce with a fair amount of spice. More so than what is usually found in MN. Overall pretty solid BBQ. Would certainly be interested in trying some of their other menu items and specials like their birria tacos and burger.

Unmatched food. First time having it and I couldn't believe I've lived here for this long and so close to it and never tried. 10/10

I love it here. I always love it here. I have nothing but the best memories every single time I have this food. I have been to this food truck while it was over by MN Nice Ice Cream, and I have also been to it at Bauhaus and I have also picked it up for large family gatherings.. every single time I have this, it is just amazing. The ribs are fantastic, a beautiful dry rub medley of all of the perfect seasonings, made to perfection every time.. then you dip it in ANY of their sauces.. there is nothing better. They also have rotating sides, and every single time I've tried one, it is always incredible. This specific instance we got the caesar wrap UM AMAZING. Pair the amazing food with the amazing destination and you have yourself a win. This place is great for any occasion. It does get pretty busy on the weekends and they do sometimes run out of ribs, so just make sure that you keep that in mind! They also have interesting hours, so just make sure you are aware of that. A 10 outta 10 everytime.

Further impressed, every time I go to Animales Barbeque! I ordered the Smoked pulled pork sandwich and tried one of their chicken legs! Animales does a great job rotating their menu as to provide delicious and speedy food for the special of the day. The rotating menu provides a sense of excitement and anticipation for the return of items bringing me back time and time again! I loved their bucket of chicken legs and will definitely will be following their Instagram posts closely to be back! The chicken was extremely moist and seasoned allowing them to be a stand out on their own- only boosted higher by the spectacular sauces provided. Keep your eye out for Animales because they have the meat game locked down!

Sooooooo happy we decided to order ahead of time the Turkey dinner to go. We ordered the half turkey, which yielded plenty for at least four to five people. The turkey had a delectable dry rub on it. Some of the best smoked turkey I've ever had!! The biscuits and grits were equally amazing. The only disappointing portion of this dinner was the gravy. I love gravy, so we ordered an extra portion of it, however the gravy was very watery, not thick at all and the flavor was lacking. Sadly I think the gravy will be tossed out. Besides the gravy. We will definitely be getting the turkey dinner next year, thank you very much Animales for the great dinner.

I will never be the same after eating Animales. I know that sounds dramatic, but my boyfriend genuinely wanted to go back and inform them that they had officially ruined all other meat for us. It's that good. By now, we've tried a handful of their menu items including the birria tacos, ribs, biscuits, corn on the cob, banana pudding, and burgers. All of it is genuinely amazing, but I personally think the birria tacos take the cake. The meat is just so incredible, and everything else (especially the crispy cheese) supports it perfectly!! They are definitely my go-to. The burgers are only available on summer Thursdays, but are also amazing! The burger dressings themselves are either standard or their weekly special (which is always fun!), but the meat is cooked and seasoned perfectly. That's what keeps me coming back!! I am not a huge ribs gal, but I can tell you the ribs are incredibly tender. My friends who love ribs were blown away, so pick your poison!! Their location, like everything else, is also incredible. Parking is plentiful. Grabbing a reservation at Able to have a drink with your dinner or grabbing Able to-go and sitting at their picnic tables are both solid options! It makes for a great dinner & drinks combo!!

This place was nothing special. The reviews I have read before did not seem like the place I ate at. The clientele was largely bikers , which is cool, but just so you know if you're used to eating in the suburbs.

Based on recent visit, I believe their best product is the pork belly. Amazing. I also liked the sausage, beans, pickled cauliflower, jalapeños and gold sauce. I thought the brisket and ribs were average. The burnt ends were overcooked and chopped too small. Some as small as half-inch. However, I would return for the pork belly and sausage.

So a couple of caveats here. The first is I usually eat pork ribs, but I did grow up with my mom making country beef ribs for me. Secondly I'm very fussy about ribs. If you ever go to Rock Island, IL go to Jim's Rib Haven for the back ribs and spicy sauce. Amazing. I got a half rack of the pastrami ribs, which I had never heard of, but sounded amazing. My first issue is this was described as a half rack of ribs. In reality it was one bone and it fit into a little cardboard box, albeit barely. Given that with tax but before tip it was $40 for this, I was expecting a lot. Ultimately it was enough food for me, and so maybe this was reasonable. Secondly the ribs were really, really fatty. I know, these are ribs, but then again I love bacon, so I'm not looking for no fat. There was just a massive amount of gobbets of pure fat to cut off. Finally to the food. It was quite tasty. The crust was good, the meat had the right flavor to it, while not being overly fall off the bone like boiled ribs, which I hate. The sauce was a vinegar mustard sauce and was tasty enough that I would eat more of it in other contexts. All in all, based on price and the meat I wouldn't go there again, but it wasn't awful. It was just overpriced for what it was in my view.

You guys... you won't find better bbq in Minneapolis. You just won't. My boyfriend and best friend went to Bauhaus Brewing to enjoy sometime outside and get a cold drink - we knew there would be the Animales food truck there and planned to get food, but did not plan to be as blown away by the amazing food as we were. The Birria Tacos were probably some of the best tacos I've ever had. Ever. So much flavor, so much going on, crispy on the outside, juicy in the middle. Show stopping. The only thing I fumbled the bag on was not asking for Birria dipping sauce - but it truly didn't even need it that's how good it was. The chicken burger was extremely good. Good bun, good toppings ok the burger, chicken was cooked perfect. Would highly recommend! The sample platter was so good. Lots of meat options that were all done and cooked SO well. The pickled veggies on the side added a nice touch! I wish we would have ordered a side or two to break up all the meat - it was A LOT of meat! But in the best way! My suggestion would be to get a side or two to make sure you have something more than meat, even though it was all 10/10! Dreaming about going back - this bbq was phenomenal!

Overall the food was okay, and I intentionally avoided most dishes under the fuertes section not only because they were pricey but also because I wanted to see how much care they put into dishes that customers probably relatively order less, so I ordered quite a few dishes under the para la mesa section. In terms of highlight, the best dish in my opinion was actually the pistachio tres leches. The milk was definitely there, and there was a good amount of pistachio flavor immersed into the cake. I thought that texturally it worked very well, too, because the softness of the cake provided a good contrast with the pistachio bits on the top. The esquites were great as well, with the tajin crema providing both a sense of creaminess and just a tiny bit of spice, and the manchego cheese giving flavor. The baja fish tacos contained a good amount of white fish and the chipotle crema added flavor. Personally I liked the fact that the brisket tacos had a good amount of smoked brisket meat, but my friend who ordered the dish didn't enjoy it because she didn't think the salsa was flavorful enough, which I could understand but disagreed with. Other dishes were leaning towards okay to meh, such as the papas machas, which had fried yukon potatoes containing very good crispy texture but way too salty flavor, especially if the potatoes were tiny and had a lot of oil at the bottom. The brussel sprouts did not have enough lime vinaigrette so it was practically flavorless, especially since it was probably deep fried without additional seasoning, which also caused some pieces to be hard to chew. The grilled snapper itself was almost flavorless, and relied on the salsa for flavor completely. I didn't understand it because it looked like it was grilled in achiote, so I assumed it followed the tikin xic dish in Yucatán Mexico, with pickled red onions and all. Maybe the achiote paste didn't have enough spices in it for marinading, or maybe the time wasn't enough. Even though as of now I wouldn't actively recommend this establishment to others yet, I would still like to visit myself to try some dishes that my other friends have hyped up, namely the enchiladas de camote and verdes.

Luckily we got there in time and I got a Chilango margarita and some nachos. The margarita was DELICIOUS, not too sour but flavorful. The nachos were pretty good: the toppings were well distributed and lots of flavor but I didn't love the combo of beans and sour cream, but I guess both are authentic to Mexico. We sat in the patio and enjoyed the beautiful lake view as we caught up, which was great, and I plan to come back! Pro tip: they validate parking! Turn on Thomas and pull into the beach club underground parking and bring your parking ticket to the restaurant for validation.

Seafood plays a leading role on the menu, handled with clear confidence throughout. The result feels thoughtful rather than showy, with hospitality that mirrors that same care. - Ceviche: A confident blend of Mexican and Peruvian influence. Chiles and ají amarillo set the tone, sharpened by pickled onion and lime. Balanced heat, clean acidity, and texture that stays true to form. Everything a ceviche should deliver. - Pasta de Langosta: Pappardelle with shrimp and lobster, well executed. Comforting without feeling heavy, this dish pulls together technique and flavor in a way that feels purposeful rather than indulgent. - Pescado: Blue and yellow corn-crusted red snapper paired with mole poblano and roasted tomatillo-guajillo salsa.
