Grand nachos - it was amazing! Yummy!!

We've tried many Mexican restaurants around the area and this spot ranked high in my list! The restaurant was clean and had such a fun flair! Our server was friendly and very helpful. The menu was filled with a wide variety of appetizing entrees and delicious cocktails! We started with the nachos grande and it was overflowing with beef, salsa, cheese, guacamole - so delicious! I would highly recommend this for an appetizer. Our grandkids got the kids meal with came with ice cream - such a special surprise for them! Wonderful place - I highly recommend trying this spot out!

Great service, the team was wonderful and very professional. Tables were clean and menu was very broad. Prices were a bit high but the portions make up for it. Steak burrito and chicken tacos were tasty. Margaritas were good for happy hour too. Will come back when in msp

Came here fora Mom's happy hour gathering and the happy menu was very limited for food and drinks with service being spotty. I didn't like it that when I wanted to start a food order, the server didn't seem like she wanted to take my order and told me that I should wait for the rest of the group to order food. I didn't have lunch and need to have some food in my tummy prior to partaking in any alcoholic beverages. The rest of our group wasn't going to be there until 45 minutes later. We had to ask for extra straws more than four times. I haven't been back to Chevys for long time because of the service not being great. The ambiance was a little loud as it was hard to hear our conversations. Will be a long time before coming back again.

I've been here maybe 1-2 other times before. Food is more so Tex-mex than authentic tasting. Also don't believe the quality and taste match the prices. It's a bit expensive. The most recent visit was a Friday night during happy hour. The waiter talked us into ordering the bigger drinks and my friend could barely drink hers (which isn't his fault). We ordered a variety of food but I'll only comment on things I tried which were the mango habanero wings (special limited time menu) and the nachos grande w/ chicken and chopped jalapeños (which were an extra $3). The wings were good and flavorful. The nachos were pretty soggy under the top layer and were kind of bland. Luckily the nachos were part of the happy hour special. The waiter seemed super busy the whole time but the restaurant wasn't that busy, especially for a Friday night. I don't know that I'd go back since the food was bland and the prices are high. I'd hate to order 2 tacos for $20+ and it not taste good.

Chevys is located across the mall of America and close to hotels in the area. They happened to be one of the only places opened around the mall on New Years Eve evening. We were in a time crunch to eat before an escape room scheduled at 10:00pm back in the mall. Mexican food, love their chips and salsa, it was happy hour so half off on appetizers and I love their flautas and their sweet sauce. Our server was super friendly and nice and got us in and out in our time frame. They had TVs by the bar and they were showing football instead of basketball. But easy parking and very family friendly.

    Chipotle chicken enchiladas - good

3.5 stars- mixed experience. Arrived Sunday evening at 5:30 for our reservation. Enjoyed margaritas on HH and chili con queso (also HH). I ordered the chipotle chicken enchiladas. Pretty good, especially enjoyed the charro beans. My sister got the fajita salad which she enjoyed. My dad got cheese enchiladas which he wasn't gushing about but that's fine. Others didn't have big complaints about their food. Service was S-L-O-W which was weird for early on a Sunday evening when there weren't that many folks there. I think what set me over the edge was when we ordered dessert- three for the 6 of us. My nephew was turning 10, so he ordered a big brownie sundae. Someone else ordered fried ice cream, and for our 3 year old son, a little vanilla kids ice cream cup. They staggered the desserts. Why? I don't know. But they were like 15 minutes apart, which maybe would have been fine if 3 adults, but my 3 year old was just losing his sh*t watching everyone else eat their ice cream/dessert. His was the simplest- just vanilla ice cream! So it felt unnecessary and kind of cruel, lol. Also they came and sang happy birthday at the tail end of my nephew finishing his brownie sundae. At the beginning of the meal my dad said he wanted to order a dinner to go, and the server recommended he put it in later. When the server followed up, we all sat there for another 20 minutes at the end of the meal waiting for the to-go order. And then waited AGAIN for the check. Just a lot of waiting for what didn't seem to be peak time. So I guess leave plenty of time for that. I would have scheduled reservation for even earlier had I known. Food 4/5 stars (surprisingly) Service 2/5. Server was very friendly......when he was present

Located next to at hotel and has a mid sized parking lot to park for free. Also across the Mall of America. Walked in to a busy night, we had a reservation and were seated promptly. Water was brought out quickly and server was attentive and helpful. We ordered some drinks. I had the pina colada which was tasty and smooth like slush. I ordered the chipotle chicken enchiladas. Salsa chicken, jack cheese, fresh corn and chipotle-sherry cream sauce. It was delicious. I ordered the crème brûlée and that was a good portion and yummy. Service was fast and friendly. I would like to come back and try more items from the menu for sure!

    The Chicken Fajita Burrito

The food was delicious- although insanely large calorically. I recommend getting the grilled vegetables and the chicken there was awesome!

To begin with, our table and the menus given to us were very dirty and had lots of visible food tidbits, which made us have to clean things up a bit ourselves. That was okay, though, because I have experienced worse and wouldn't choose to let it impact my judgment to such an extent. I thought the only item that was solid was my lengua torta, which had a good amount of stuff inside ranging from meat to lettuce to mayo, and made me full in a very satisfactory way. A lot of the tacos were dry and reliant on the lime for a little bit of juice, including the birria tacos. My partner ordered the chicken, shrimp, and fish tacos, and thought they all tasted mediocre. Personally I enjoyed having some radishes because they cleansed my palate when needed. Another unfortunate event was that later that night, I experienced a severe stomachache and had to throw up. Granted, I have not tried their birria with consomé yet, which per my understanding was what made them famous since the beginning of time, at least according to a piece of newspaper I had seen next to the bathroom. Next time when I visit, I will try such instead, which I hope can provide me with an improved experience.

Let's start with service, the server was nice enough, but very rarely came by to refill drinks. The others were taken quickly, but the food all came out at wildly different times. I received my food probably 20-25 minutes before the last person received theirs. The wave was maybe 2 people's food at a time. The whole free dip with 5 Birria tacos was confusing as no one really knew which tacos qualified. As for the food, the horchata was okay. It wasn't super flavorful and seemed poorly mixed. I had to take the top off to try and mix it better, but the straw didn't work well. The goat Birria was very bland to me. I added all the hot sauce, but still couldn't even really taste it. I ended up mainly just dipping the tortillas in the green sauce, which wasn't bad. Perhaps I came on an off day. I'm not sure I would go back though.

Love the murals on the walls celebrating the Minnesotan culture and icons. The service is always great, and the servers always have a good menu recommendation if you're unsure what to get. The bar has delicious drinks and their Jamaica juice is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Happy hour is a nice discount on some favorite items. I will say anything with shredded chicken isn't my favorite (not enough seasoning on the chicken for my taste) but everything else we've tried is a hit! We always start off with the chips and salsa flight and add cheese sauce - it's NOT a queso, there's no peppers or spice. The creamy green sauce is our favorite salsa they make, it's delicious on everything. The torta is a great choice if you're unsure what to get, the pineapple bowl is awesome if you're trying to share with others. Tacos and burritos are always a hit - I love the crunch of the pork belly and the flavor of the al pastor, taco toppings are onion and cilantro unless you get the loaded taco with slaw. The burrito could probably feed two people with an appetizer. It's a little higher priced than your typical plate of tacos but the quality of the food is always top notch, the kitchen is open and clean, and I've never left hungry or without leftovers. I will note - if you're looking for "traditional" Mexican food this probably isn't the spot you're looking for. It's still delicious just slightly different than what you'd get at your typical taqueria.

My husband likes getting a variety of tacos - al pastor, barbacoa, shrimp, or carnitas. My favorite is the rajas bowl - tasty cactus, peppers, black beans, lettuce, and pico.
