Centrally located in the Aspen core and a short walk from the Hotel Jerome, this elegant restaurant seems like an upstairs oasis of blonde wood, grays, blacks, with a sommelier. Although I did not find prices on the website - the entrees range from the upper $40s to over $100. The wine list starts at around $60 a bottle to the 'don't ask.' I had the special Dover sole which came with string beans, confit potatoes, and a sauce meunière. Three guests had the pastas. Small salt cellars, lemon in cheesecloth, etc. Even though it was filled to the brim when we left - I could still hear our table conversation. With wine, water, first courses, main entrees and a shared dessert - the final bill was gasp-worthy but for a very special occasion (or if someone else is treating) - it was a solid meal (although light on the seasoning and salt). read more

This restaurant is Expensive - the prices are on level with some of the finest restaurants in the world. This is Aspen, not Copenhagen, so I wasn't expecting it to be Noma, but I did expect a top tier Italian dinner and staff that would go out of their way to earn the exorbitant prices. Instead we got a meal that would have been middling at one third the price we paid, with mixed service. The bass crudo starter was fishy (read: not fresh). The only thing that distracted me from the bland flavor was the breathtaking $60 price. The tomato crostini seemed as if they had been made by a jet lagged intern - cubes of tasteless tomato scattered on dry slices of toasted baguette. Yet these were masterworks next to the house salad, which consisted of taco-style shredded lettuce with cubes of slimy roasted red pepper, presented in a slug-like wad on an oval plate ($24). The chef must have been pleased with the risotto special, with a few grams of tasteless black truffle gratuitously shaved on top, since he priced it (with no warning to the diners) at a staggering $105 for a plate of rice. The flavor was decent, and I might have even rated it as good for a mid two digit price had it not been undercooked and chalky. The dover sole, which the waiter described as exquisite, was overcooked and dry with scant sauce. It was accompanied by bafflingly cooked artichokes hearts (delivered several minutes after the fish arrived, in a soup bowl). The pasta bolognese was one of the best dishes on the table but no better than my neighborhood Italian restaurant's $18 rendition, priced at $55 for a small serving. The sommelier chose to recommend a $315 bottle to go with these incompatible entrees (meat, fish, risotto) rather than suggesting wines by the glass as he should have, but it's not at all clear that he knew enough to make that obvious judgement. At the end of dinner, we were pleasantly surprised when the bill they presented was less than expected (our waiter suggested this was to compensate for our disappointment with the meal), but 15 minutes later, they TOOK THE SIGNED, PROCESSED RECEIPTS BACK AND REISSUED THEM FOR MORE THAN TWICE THE PRICE! Stay far away from this sucker trap if you care about good food or simply don't enjoy the feeling of being bilked. read more

Extremely over priced and poor communication. Me and my boyfriend wanted to have a nice dinner in Aspen and found this place. First we looked at the wine menu which was about 20 pages long. After finding our wine (we each picked a separate wine) they came and opened two bottles and left them on the table. We had only ordered a glass but apparently the wine we had ordered was bottle only. We were not told that the first page of the wine list was by glass only, the rest were bottle only. Why would we each buy a bottle of wine for ourselves? We were not told any of this information to begin with and the menu was very deceiving and confusing. After dealing with that situation we were overwhelmed with the specials. After listening to a 5min speech with no pricing mentioned I had ordered the truffle risotto. It was delicious! But after the bill came I nearly vomited. $160 for about 1.5 cups worth of risotto. None of their pricing was explained and for that price it should be. read more

We heard they were opening in Aspen and we were excited to try it in our "other" home town. It was of course, FABULOUS! Delicious! And the service was amazing! Especially when u consider that it was Christmastime and the place was packed. The owner/chef was right there making sure everyone was happy-smart guy. Not hiding in the kitchen. There were waiters and managers watching the waiters like pit bosses watching the dealers in Vegas. When I mentioned that my Lobster Fra Diavolo wasn't all that spicy, it was whisked away for about 60 seconds and came back A-MAZING!!! There's a lot of Italian restaurants in Aspen. Pushers. We had this waiter from Serbia that kept making himself sound Italian. Ordered a $300 bottle of wine that I liked and the waiter suggests to get a $900 bottle of wine that we didn't want. So we decided to go with our original $300 bottle which he said it was a "cheap wine" which by the way the price of the wine in this restaurant is 3 -4x more than in the liquour store. Then we ordered a salad and sashimi which he kept mentioning in was very small portion and we needed more. It was a good size salad. Kept also pushing us to get specials without mentioning prices that were about $150+. Then my wife ordered a Branzino and I wanted to order a lobster pasta originally $60 which he said it wasn't good it was heavy cheese flavor and pushed the special which we ordered. Without mentioning it was about $160. We always go to the best places in Miami and New York and never got so pushed to order specials or extremely priced wines. Our bill ended up being $700 but if we have listened to our waiter it would have been $2000. read more

Booked a reservation for New Year's Eve here on yelp. Was called and verbally quoted $350 per person for my preset multicourse meal and asked if I would like to confirm my reservation, I said that's perfect, the conversation ended. (We were going to little nell after for the dom party so 9pm being the only booking option on OpenTable seemed perfect for us.) when we arrived I was informed that our reservation was running behind for the "second seating". I was confused by this because I just thought it was a normal reservation with a preset meal. We sat down and we had said preset meal and they brought us cristal. What a lovely surprise to go with our dinner I thought. We met the chef who was kind and made sure we got a great table and service. Imagine my surprise when I get my bill for $2400, which at this point I was very over-served, but not enough to realize after the check was signed that this was WRONG. I expressed to the hostess that I did not understand why we were charged so much and she told me it was because of the second seating and afterparty (which I didnt even know about) and would have the manager call me the next day. No call. So I called, everyday for four days for them to tell me that they aren't going to do anything about it but offer me a free meal (sounds guilty to me - especially after reading these sketchy reviews) and that they believe Kathy (whose clearly trying to save her job) over me. How would I even know the price was $350 for the "first seating" (not the 9:00 reservation I made) if She didn't quote it to me on the phone when confirming my reservation. It wasn't online - I checked when leaving. I booked on the OpenTable app. It had ZERO information on it about anything to do with this evening. So with that being said, I will be disputing the charge on my credit card and I will be reporting this to the better business bureaus. read more

This is my husbands and my first visit to casa D'Angelo and wow we are so impressed. Our realtor, Candace, referred us to this fantastic eatery. From the moment we walked in the door we knew we were I our kind of place. Swanky ambiance and perfect background music made for the best setting. I preferred the foie gras accompanied with a Sauternes wine. It melted in my mouth, like butter. My husband ordered the veal chop which was stuffed with prosciutto and cheese. One of the best chops we've ever had. I ordered the Branzino encrusted with salt and a dough crust beautifully unwrapped by the server and it was so delightful. This dinner was over the top! Im not one for dessert but we decided on the tiramisu. Holy cow, that was a delight for our senses. And to finish off the meal we were given and explosive one bite cleanse of the palate. I've never experienced such an excitement of a meal. D'Angelo is a must to visit. If we lived here it would definitely be our go to restaurant. If I could give a zero i would, never felt so much racism and judgmental at the same time. We did not have a reservation so we asked if there was open availability as we just got into town and we're told yes to wait 10-20 minutes , after waiting 45 minutes people after us where seated who also didn't have reservations. You cna clearly tell it was due to the color of our skins along with wearing a collar shirt with boots besides wearing name brand stuff even tho my wife was. When asked about our table they advised if something opens up at the end of thr bar we cna have it. Not even saying they put our name down or even gonna try to get us in. So after a hour of waiting we left. Never will be back again. Also I am from California and own a Restaurant and a couple other businesses. Shame on you read more

We went to Casa D'Angelo for a group dinner. It is a crowded noisy restaurant. We were all screaming at each other... want to talk to someone on the other side of the table? Forget about it! Food was really good. Someone at our table ordered the special but didn't know it was going to be a $160 plate. The waiter forgot our drink order and had to be reminded 20 minutes later that we had ordered drinks... on their website it says "our private dining room can accommodate up to 20 guests" and it seemed like there was at least 5 times that many people crammed into their tiny space the night we went. It was HOT in there too and very loud. Would not return to pay the obscene menu prices and endure that experience again. read more
