I got answers from Darlene that did not make sense. Sometimes her computer was down other times her phone was down. Sometimes she would call to give me a message only to realize that she had called the wrong customer. Did not enjoy working with her. Finally, Kara engaged and we got the Permission to Operate about two months after the install. Supposedly Jeff (the Business Owner) is no longer with the company and has gone back East, so not sure who is leading their future efforts. For future customers: hang on to a portion of the payment till the Permission to Operate is received not just the installation.

Danielle in the office was a joy and our project manager Jason was there for us all along the way. The install crew was phenomenal and completed the entire project in two days. We absolutely love having battery backup especially from 4 to 9 PM when PG&E charges the highest peak rate in the Continental U.S. California has the second-highest electricity rates in the U.S., (only behind Hawaii) which makes receiving power from the sun especially rewarding. It's a nerve wracking process but Ryan gave me reassurance things would go well. Upon Ryan's recommendation, we also decided to replace the solar panel racking system installed by Sunrun because we were plagued with roof leaks due to improper sealing of their footings. Ryan and the Northstar team were absolute champs at removing and reinstalling the new system for us. Everyone we dealt with was so professional, kind and easy going. The work was beautifully done and based on all the photos and detail provided by Ryan I am confident we will be safe from leaks going forward. Joe came out to provide the estimate, and he and another installer completed the installation in just one day. They recommended using a pool cover to help retain heat overnight when temperatures drop, and that advice has worked well for us. Since installing the system and using the pool cover, our pool temperature has been averaging around 82°F in the morning and warming up to approximately 85-87°F during the day. We haven't experienced many really hot days yet, but so far the system is performing exactly as we had hoped. We're very happy with our decision and are glad we finally made the switch to solar.

The bad news is everything leading up to that visit. I first contacted the front office on April 16 via email and received a response from Sue. Responses were slow and vague; I could not even get a ballpark estimate without repeated follow-ups. My last email requesting scheduling went unanswered, and then--three weeks later--Joe called on May 6 saying he was eight minutes away. I had no idea I'd been scheduled, and I was just lucky to be home. Bottom line: if you can get on Joe's calendar, you'll likely be happy with the repair. Just be prepared for shaky communication and scheduling from the office staff.
