AJ not only has a very good broad knowledge in fixing things but also he's very resourceful. He offered free estimates and explained to me the most viable options for the "to-fix" items on my checklist. He followed up with an itemized list of repairs and costs. I decided to hire him because his pricing is very transparent. I felt reassured that there's no hidden costs. He's on time all three visits, had his mask on for covid safety, and very responsive when I had any questions that came up.
AJ helped me fix/rebuild a screen door that's odd size. He didn't have to build from scratch as he was able to acquire a pair from his circle of contractors that really helped cutting costs. Still he would have to take those screens apart, saw the frames to size, restretch the screens, and install. He even pulled out a lock from his magic toolbox and made the screen doors secured. That was a really nice touch.
He also re-wired a bathroom fan/light to make it so one switch turns on both. After diagnosis, he made this suggestion to help me cut cost, otherwise I would have to purchase a new unit. I am happy not because of the savings but because I didn't have to throw out a unit that's half broken. That would be wasteful.
He fixed a leaky shower faucet. The constant dripping that's waking me up in the middle of the night was history. It wasn't apparent why the faucet was dripping. AJ patiently inspected and came up with an explanation and proceeded on fixing the issue what he thought should work. The first time, we thought it was fixed. After a few hours, the dripping persisted. On his next visit, I told him the faucet was dripping again. He didn't hesitate at all or negotiate for additional pay. He tried other things and he nailed it.
Lastly, he removed the stains from my bathtub. The apartment is 20 years old and the tub was etched with unsightly marks from rubber mats over multiple ownerships. He told me exactly what to expect. Unless I hired someone to sand the tub down and sprayed a new coat of paint, the bath tub was not going to look brand-new. He used a combination of chemicals and scrubbed off most of the marks until he couldn't scrub any further so to protect the original paint.
Like I said at the beginning of my long review, AJ is Jack of all trades, a handyman, I'll recommend. He's a builder, electrician, plumber, and a contractor very easy to work with. If you hired a master in each of their specific field, yes, you would get master results. However, if you are cost and time conscious like me, you'd want to hire AJ. read more
