I came back here on a rainy day to give this place another chance. The place wasn't busy and we were seated immediately. My son ordered the steamed lobster and it was much cleaner than the last one we had here. We also ordered the fried calamari and they were delicious! I had my birthday dinner here last night with my daughter. I enjoyed the view very much and the drinks were great ( my daughter was driving ) Our food was good. We had the asparagus for an appetizer, my daughter had the fish and chips and I had lobster blt sandwich. The only real negative to our evening were the abundance of bees swarming around our table. We decided to take a long weekend to Misquamicut beach to relax for a small summer break. I wanted to have dinner somewhere with a view and great seafood. This place had good reviews and was also recommended by a friend, so we decided to try. It was casual beach bar/restaurant so no need to dress up. It can get windy or chilly at night so if you get cold easily, bring a light shawl or sweatshirt. Now the important part- the food. My husbands mother makes bouillabaisse every Christmas Eve- so he is spoiled. When he saw it on the menu, he decided to try it, not expecting anything close to what his mom makes. He was shocked when he got a big bowl full of shellfish! It was well worth every penny. There was mussels, clams, lobster, calamari, shrimp.... There was so much, I had to help him eat it. I had a lobster roll which I believe also had plenty of lobster meat and reasonably priced. The service was also very good. Just got back from the Andrea. Ordered a deep Eddy lemon with club soda from the bar-it was great. Was seated at a table shortly thereafter. I decided to ask the waitress about other flavors of vodka and she mentions "blood orange"- so I ask for a blood orange vodka and club soda. I get my drink; and it's a cloyingly artificial peach flavored beverage. I run up to bartender to explain situation-she says she can't do anything; that I have to handle it with my server. That's fine. When I mention it to my server-she said, "that's all they had was peach/orange; I can't take it off your bill or replace it." What????!!!! You give me something totally different than from what I ordered, and I have to pay for it??? This might be enough for us never to return to the andrea (I'm sure you care) First thing- if you're out of something that someone orders; the right thing to do? Is you tell them! What you don't do?? Substitute it with something totally different-and then give them a hard time when they don't like what you gave them. Absolutely unacceptable!! My scallops were great. BF ordered the "Atlantic burger" No onions, no aioli. He had a burger with cheese on an ungrilled bun. No toppings. Waitress says "the kitchen was slammed" really!? This is ridiculous. Witnessed the restaurant forcing a family with a handicap woman (she was in a wheelchair) to leave. Family was clearly very upset and I learned it was because the servers refused to allow them to order dessert if they didnt move tables. What a disgrace! The restaurant was not even close to full and it was one of the more stunning ways I've ever seen a restaurant or any business treat a disabled person/family. It was jaw dropping. The overpriced food has gone way down hill in the past few years anyway and without the view of this water, this place would never get away with any of this. I was so offended and thought about my grandmother being treated this way and I will never come back here! Do better Andrea Beach Bar! Please, for the love of all that is holy to you, don't order the "pulled pork" Mac and cheese! I place pulled pork in quotes because as you can see in the attached photo, what you're actually getting is chunks of fatty, sinewy, gray pork with some BBQ sauce squirted across the whole plate as an afterthought. The sauce has no relation at all to the pork, and is squirted from a bottle right on top of the Mac and cheese. I was honestly confused. I have never seen "pulled pork" that wasn't actually pulled, nor covered in bbq sauce, nor apparently seasoned in any way. This dish ought to have had corn bread crumb topping but we held that due to personal taste. I'm wondering if the reason for the cornbread topping is to hide this unappetizing mess. They did replace it with plain Mac and cheese on request. We also had the marinated chicken thighs over mashed potatoes with green beans. There was hardly any potato but plenty of chicken. The taste of the chicken could have been very good BUT it was not edible either because it was farrrrr to rich and wayyyyy too salty for more than one or two bites. The marinade needed dilution of some sort. It was almost like a gel. Way way over seasoned and salted. And it permeated the potatoes as well rendering those also inedible. The green beans were good. Two stars for the view of the sunset and the fact that the waitress, while mostly passing us by for bigger checks, was friendly when we did see her. We had asked for separate checks upfront but that wasn't done. She offered to go back and fix it but we'd already waited half an hour after asking for the checks that we didn't want to risk another half hour wait to fix it. The hostess at the front was pretty rude too. Not particularly to us, but just general demeanor to all. We'll try another place next time. read more

Amazing lobster roll! I'm picky about lobster rolls and it was jammed packed and delicious. I got extra butter with it. My husband's food was great too and he loved the mashed potatoes. The scallops were delicious but you don't get that many as other fried foods so he would get the fish next time. Note: there are no refunds for drinks even if you don't like it. This happened to me but the manager was so nice and made the exception. read more

awful management, poor service... I was visiting my family from california. Came here with my handicapped mother, father, brother and his partner here. Server said they were doing a shift change and forced us pay our bill before we were finished eating. When I asked the new server if we could order desert and a round of drinks, we were told we have to move tables. Since my mother is handicapped and it is really hard for us to move tables, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager said they have a 2 hour rule and we have to move tables or leave. She was extremely rude, non empathetic, and clearly did not care about losing business. Oh and I forgot to mention, ALL the tables around us were open. So instead of spending an additional 50+ for an extra 20 minutes of time with my family, we decided to leave. As a person who has worked in the restaurant business for 20+ years, I am disgusted and embarrassed at the way we were treated. If this was my last restaurant experience with my mother, i am going to write to the newspaper about my experience here. I've been here so many times- one of my favorite places near Misquamicut beach- or rather it's literally on the beach! They were booked for tables so we sat outside & ordered our meals and drinks at the patio. Our waiter Justin (not sure if that's right) was great - super attentive and friendly and just had that easy-going beach vibe - he fit right and I think he said he had just started working there but he was wonderful. The food was good but nothing AMAZING I got a chicken ceasar salad so not tooo difficult to mess up and I got frozen strawberry daiquiri's for drinks- which were AMAZING!!! So delicious!! Not the strongest in the world but they were perfect IMO! The best Part about this place is the location. Location location location! They definitely ONE OF the best spot's on Misquamicut beach. I didn't even know this but you can also sit on their beach section- literally on the beach and they can serve you drinks right from the beach!!!! You can also go to the beach after you're done - which is great & you don't have to pay for parking! The overall vibe and atmosphere makes this place GREAT & a little more family friendly then a place like Patty's! The Decor looks like it's been recently updated which is nice and the restrooms were definitely updated and they added more which was much needed!!!! We go here almost every time we visit Misquamicut beach and will continue to do so! read more

Went there Friday evening for an easy dinner on the beach. Great location. Great view. Can't beat it. Short wait for the restaurant so we decided to sit at the bar. Our bartender was great. Super attentive. Ordered calamari to split and two lobster rolls. Calamari came out nice and hot with nice breading and peppers. Good size to share. Served with marinara. Our lobster rolls were massive!!!' Tons of lobster meat stuffed into a nicely toasted roll. My wife said hers could have had a bit more bitter but mine was perfect. We both thoroughly enjoyed the meal. My wife got hers with a nice tangy cole slaw and I got chips. Would definitely recommend this place and the lobster rolls. read more

We ate outside under the tent. Several years ago my wife and I stopped some time after that last hurricane. We were glad it partially survived. The stone fireplace remains to this day. We went to Andrea Beach Bar for a great dinner after our beach day but we were very disappointed. We first waited 20 minutes for a table outside just to be seated inside after 30 minutes. The service was extremely slow and all our dishes came out at separate times or did not show up at all. They never apologized for forgetting to place half the food which came out after everyone was done eating. The drinks could definitely be skipped. The food was mediocre at best. The clam chowder might as well have been served in a Dixie cup. Not worth $8! t But the real kicker was the stag. The service was so bad, I asked for it to go. We had dinner at Andrea tonight. Located right on the beach with great views. Reservations and masks are required given the current environment. My guest ordered the Coconut Shrimp ($22). It came with Coleslaw and fries. The entree was reported as "unremarkable". She did not eat the fries. I started with the Caesar Salad ($10). The salad was large and of average flavor. My entree was Fish & Chips ($18). The fish portion was good size and not greasy. That said, I am unsure what fish was used, but it had little flavor and was definitely not cod. As to the "Chips", I ate about 5. I suggest using proper chips and sack the current cheap junk. For gods sack, how hard is it to do it correctly ? Embarrassing ! I noticed another table ordered the Calamari appetizer. It was a large (entree size) serving and I observed tentacles included (yahoo). I was jealous. Overall, the service was average. So, with three glasses of wine ($8 ea) plus tax and tip we were out the door for $91.20. In retrospect, this restaurant with the great views cannot overcome the food quality coupled with average service. Next time I will spend my $92 somewhere else. Magoo read more

If you're not spending a day at the beach right next to it then give another place a shot. Just the prices and quality/quantity weren't quite aligned in my opinion. It's beach season! And, while I'm usually found on my local beach because it's so convenient...I happened to be up in Groton this past weekend. Our initial plans for Sunday were to just lay out at Misqumicut and relax. We got so aggravated with the parking situation up there, that we headed straight to the Andrea instead. Am I glad we did. This place used to be two stories...it was completely destroyed during Sandy. However, it seems like it's being built back even better. There is an indoor bar, an outdoor (covered!) bar and a outdoor, uncovered seating area where live music is played. There were some dudes playing Caribbean style music all day...and that was perfect. Drinks are cheap and strong and the atmosphere is friendly. We ended up making friends with some AWESOME locals/regulars and not even heading down to the beach...which was okay, because they have a little patch of sand with beach chairs, not covered, right behind the bar. I can thank that for my sun poisoning. I also sampled the food as well....lobster and asparagus fries. Both were delish and fresh--you can't ask for much more in either of those foods! Definitely have to make reservations because we had to wait about an hour or a little more because we did not have a reservation. I am not sure if I have left a prior review of the Andrea or not. But since I live in the neighborhood, I do patronize the place periodically. I think I might have mentioned before that the food at the Andrea generally sucks . And based on today's visit, I will reiterate my opinion. Today, my wife and I and some family members went down to the Andrea for a drink and a late supper . We had the fried asparagus appetizer, which are actually pretty decent. But since both my wife and I were not extremely hungry, we both ordered the fish sandwich platter. Now I have never seen a piece of haddock fillet cut as thin as I saw today. I honestly believe that the Andrea kitchen staff takes a haddock fillet and puts it on a slicing machine and cuts them to approximately 1/4 inch thick. They then bread this one quarter inch thick fillet and fry it and place it between a roll with a small portion of lettuce and tomato, that was it. The Andrea is a Misquamicut icon. They can do better. read more
