I had been away from our local Anderson's for a bit and found some pleasant changes upon my return. I noticed that they had changed their soft drinks at the soda fountain and I think it was a good change. I try to stay away from sodas as much as I can so I was happy to find that unsweetened ice tea was now available. I appreciated the healthier option! I also noticed that the fries were better than before.... I'm not sure if I just hit it on the right night, but whoever was at work the deep fryer really nailed the fries... they were piping hot and crispier than what I remembered previously. Love the custard here. Usually go at night & service is great, but not today, Thursday July 10 at 3:00. There was a family of 3 when I walked in. There were 6 employees, (a group of 3 young girls standing around talking). After about 4 minute a young man waited on the family. Another customer came in after me. The 3 girls still were talking and giggling unaware or didn't look up to see customers. I was getting annoyed. Finally, Kayla came over and asked the family if they were waited on. I told her yes, and I was next. She asked what I wanted, like I was putting her out. The other girls name was Ashley. I wasn't able to see the other girls name, but she was working takeout, although there wasn't a customer at the time. Wow! I came here on recommendation of someone I knew from Buffalo, while I was traveling through the area. From now on, this will be my first stop when in the Buffalo area! I cant believe how good this fast casual restaurant is! I came for the pistachio custard. I am a huge pistachio fan and it is hard to find where I live in the midwest. This pistachio custard was the best pistachio "ice cream" ive ever had. It is a rotating flavor so check their website for dates and locations of rotating flavors (they have a calendar). I was impressed by the huge menu and decided to order another specific to Buffalo food, the Beef on Weck. What this is, is tender roast beef, ideally with horseradish, on a kummelweck roll (wow I love this roll btw). What a great sandwich! I capped off my meal with some cajun curly fries which were just the right crispy and seasoned combo. The staff here was so friendly and helpful to a newbie, and even some friendly patrons in line with me heard it was my first time and started gushing about the place and giving recommendations! There is a ton of seating inside, along with a small patio outside. It is clean and has ample parking. There is a freezer case with many take home ice cream cakes. I'm from Syracuse, and don't go to Buffalo often. When I'm out of town and stop for a meal, I try to keep it relevant. From everything we'd heard and read, this place screams relevant. This was our first Beef on Weck experience. As a regional dish, its image is synonymous with a sense local pride. Our blind take after cutting through the noise was simply that quality roast beef sandwiches are always delicious, and this is yet another way to enjoy them. We were expecting it to resemble a pretzel roll, but it ate more like an everything bagel. I knew enough to douse it with enough horseradish to power wash my sinuses with every bite. I regret not adding mustard or banana peppers to compliment it with something acidic. If nothing else, I'd come back for the sweet potato fries. I've never seen anything like the marshmallow drizzle they use, and it worked beautifully. We ate them on our drive back to Syracuse, and they held up great even an hour into the trip, as most fries are so well known not to do. After looking up the place, we were sad to have missed the pistachio flavor soft serve. They have a calendar on their website which maps out the special flavors across all their locations. We were in town for Strawberry, which didn't disappoint. The dipped waffle cone had that artificial sweet chocolate taste a lot of pre-bought cones come with. I would definitely go for a Sundae if I went here again. I didn't know they made their own hard ice cream until I read the reviews after. Lastly for what it's worth, their soft drinks are off-brand, but we were weirdly fond of the Cola we ordered. All in all, this was a great lunch, but a light one at about $35.00. This location is right down my street-- literally. Before my vegetarian days, we would come here often. As an early vegetarian, I still enjoyed their ice cream and black bean burger. However, when I went vegan I began to feel a bit left out. Within the last few years, that has changed. Andersons has a veggie wrap to accompany the burger for savory eats, and even dairy-free hard serve ice cream. My mom has enjoyed the wrap numerous times, and the burger is standard fare. As for the ice cream, I was hesitant for awhile. I am a coconut bloodhound-- if it has coconut milk/oil in it, I can taste it. I don't mind coconut per say, but if I am having something that is not solely coconut flavored, I don't want to taste it. With my birthday coming up, I got my annual free coupon. I took a chance tonight, and it was worth it! As of 6/2021, this location has raspberry chunk, coconut chocolate almond, and cappuccino. I had my heart set on the raspberry, but I didn't know they recently came out with cappuccino too. Next time. Plant based shakes are available if you are into that sort of thing. The lemon ice is also suitable for all, and you can get it with strawberries too. The ice cream was unbelievably creamy, and no coconut aftertaste. You would never suspect it was made from non-dairy milk. It reminded me of the raspberry chocolate melts in a candy box. My mom sneaked a bite and she knows what flavor to get next time. The non-dairy flavors are about .50 more, which isn't too bad. I am glad we can all enjoy Anderson's once again, and hope for more vegan options in the future. read more

I freaking LOVE Anderson's ice cream. I always get the Oreo ice cream, and it is hands down the BEST oreo/cookies and cream ice cream I have ever had in my life. I LOVE ice creams that have a high cookie to cream ratio, and Anderson's Oreo ice cream is chock full of oreo cookies! Can't get enough of it. Thankfully, Anderson's is open during the quarantine, so that we can get our ice cream fix. Put it on your schedule for next year because it's a thing. I would normally be willing to trade a new born baby for a scoop of Anderson's ice cream, but on Septemebr 8th I got myself a giant scoop of some of the creamiest, most decadent ice cream one can find in Western New York for a fraction of the price. Unfortunately, Anderson's won't allow multiple scoops for that price. For obvious reasons, I wanted a cone with two scoops of ice cream and they refused to comply with my requests. So, I said, "Fine. I'll take two ice cream cones then.", and I got them both for 99₵ each. I'm a huge mint chip ice cream kind of guy. Naturally, I also like Oreo cookies and fudge. So when I realized that Anderson's makes Mint Oreo Fudge ice cream I almost suffered a stroke but caught myself before it was too late (a close one). BEST ICE CREAM EVER. The mere thought of scoring scoops of that ice cream for 99₵ was almost too difficult to imagine. But fate would see it a different way that day. Instead of getting the two ice cream cones each with Mint Oreo Fudge I had ordered, my server accidentally gave me two cones of mint chip instead. I got about 4-5 licks deep before I caught the error and when I let her know what happened, she apologized to me and gave me two more scoops of the Mint Oreo Fudge for free! read more

I'm very picky about Beef on Weck but I do like the version sold at Anderson's. The beef is tender and not overcooked. It's not as good as Bar-Bill or Charlie the Butcher but it is still better than the roast beef served at most establishments, and the fact that it is cooked medium/medium-rare sets Anderson's in at least the top 10 for Beef on Weck. Andersons serves high quality ice cream that is handmade. Typically, I prefer custard but when I go to Anderson's I only get ice cream. I decided to try their graham cracker crunch and peanut butter yogurt. Both were great decisions! The best part is that our ice cream was 50% off! According to the lady at the front taking orders it was not snowing enough and falling from the sky- whatever that means because it's not windy and falling from trees.
