Wow! This little chain has REALLY gone downhill. It's sad.. I used to love this chain. The pizza made to order your way was the flex. Quick and hot. Wow! Inspite me being the ONLY PERSON IN THE WHOLE PLACE, no one greeted me or even asked if I knew how the ordering kiosk worked. The two young ladies were in the back, loud music playing and totally ignored me. It took about ten minutes ( being on the parking meter matters). A couple, clearly tourists entered and immediately exited see that they was no one behind the counter to help. Quite frankly it looked extremely rundown and sketchy inside. When my pie was ready, a young woman asked if I wanted any additional toppings and then asked if the other woman had already rang me out. I had paid thru the kiosk. I guess they had no way of knowing that. Ugh. I love & pizza and this location is close to home. I'm hard pressed to say, You will probably be disappointed by the treatment that you receive. Your pie will be okay but not worth the lack of service and effort by staff at this location. They need to do better. Period. End of sentence... read more

It's been a few years since I've had &pizza and I was so surprisingly disappointed by how much the quality has gone down over the years (at least at this location.) I ordered a pizza here the other day at the kiosk, with only one other order ahead of me and it still took about 10-15 mins to get my pizza. Normally, at any other pizza place that would be expected. A minimum wait even. But for a small, conveyer assembly pizza with just a few toppings it was the lack of urgency with the folks working that added to the wait time. However, once someone came to make the pizza, it took less than one minute to assemble and just a few more minutes to cook. Additionally, I was shocked to see how sad it looked once I opened it. It was assembled very sloppy, with very little love. The marinara was scarce and the toppings weren't well distributed. The pizza looked bare and unappetizing. When I got home, I figured that maybe the taste would still be the same but TBH, it was all a little blah. Not sure what has changed, but even the crust used to hit differently. Since it's been awhile, this &pizza reunion really didn't inspire me to order from there again...at least for while when there are so many other great pizza options available. I hope that over time they're able to get their quality and service back up to what it's been in the past. read more

Needs a refresh. Walls are scuffed, door handles with peeling paint and rough edges. The pizza was fine, serviceable, and the assembly line was smooth, thought you just had a feeling maybe the place was kind of dirty. Staff courteous and patient and attentive. We've eaten at several more expensive restaurants on our vacation here in DC, but I just wanted pizza to eat at our AirBNB while my wife enjoyed leftovers from an earlier meal. After looking at several options nearby, I chose &pizza. I'm vegetarian, and pizza is easy to make vegetarian. They had a lot of great topping options, and I ended up with basil leaves, mushrooms and pineapple calling me as I made the order on the touchscreen. You're not required to use the touchscreen, but it was easy and fast. A couple of notes...the menu presently on Yelp is dated and doesn't have accurate pricing. Their website doesn't have a separate menu, but you can order ahead of time using the website, and you can see the options as you create your order. Go to https://andpizza.com then select the location near you and you can start the order where you can see ingredients choices as you go. My pizza was good, although I think I might have tried the spicy tomato sauce topping, the regular tomato sauce was good but my favorite pizzeria back home has spicier sauce than their regular sauce here. Overall, it tasted really good and I started chowing down as soon as I got back to our place. I probably should have remembered to take a photo before it was almost gone! The folks working there were friendly and my pizza was ready in minutes. It's clear most of their business is delivery or takeout like we had, but there is a place to sit if you want to eat on the premises. Excellence for cheap. This place has saved me a few times when my time and budget was tight and I didn't want to eat junk. I love the night shift manager here. They're always upbeat and having a good time. Usually quite friendly staff, it's often very loud, not always the cleanest but it's never terrible. read more

We ordered from door dash cause we didn't want to leave our hotel room. We got a white pie and lil roni and omg they were both delicious. Delivery was fast. Didn't get any pics cause it was ate before we even thought about it. Would definitely order from them again if ever in this area. read more

Due to Uber delivery driver error, we never did receive our actual order BUT we did receive someone else's and boy was it delicious! Yes, we checked to make sure they didn't want us to send it back and yes, they were very courteous. We are from the Midwest and have no &pizza around us so we didn't really know that you pay a flat fee for unlimited toppings. Maybe the website could explain this better for out-of-towners? Although we didn't get our original order, we definitely would've loaded up with more options to begin with!! However- whosever pizzas we did receive- YOU HAVE GREAT TASTE! I wouldn't normally be this harsh, but the employees here are not the brightest bulbs. No greeting when we walked in. One employee forgot what comprises a Maverick, while the other stood there at the cash register staring at her phone like she wasn't at work. I had to literally say "hey ... hey ... HEY" to snap her out of an Instagram trance to get ringed up. After that, we ate two of the worst pizzas I've ever had from &pizza. I wasn't watching them make it closely, but minimal cheese and toppings on both, and a metric ton of pesto and garlic. There is no way you unintentionally mess pizzas up this badly. Quick, easy, friendly! I went in 8 minutes before they closed, sorry yall you know how it is//: but they were so accommodating, fast, and didn't seem visibly annoyed lol. I got the dirty bird pizza and if you like spice, this is the one for you!! I get it, everyone doesn't always have good days but, what happens when you apply to work in the service industry!? For anyone interested in entering a decent establishment, where you're greeted, treated kindly and in this case, having food prepared (that looks desirable & edible), you'll do yourself a favor and walk right past this particular location. Theres a 7-11 a block down, where you'll possibly be greeted by the less fortunate but, you're greeted. They may even open the door for you. I liked &Pizza a lot. One of my friends chose this place and I am so happy that she did. The parking is absolutely insane. We ended up parking like 4 blocks away but there is street parking if you are lucky. I paid about $4 for 2 hours which was the max amount of time you could be in the space. Upon my arrival to the place I loved the black and white decor. The place kind of looked like a peace of art which I loved the most. The restaurant was clean and there weren't very many people dining in it seemed like a lot of people were ordering and leaving. &Pizza is kind of like your traditional choose your toppings pizza spot but the crust is oval and long. I chose the traditional sauce + spinach + pepperoni and cheese. You also have the option of adding extra stuff at theend which was cool. It took about 5 mins for the pizza to cook. I was able to share with my 4 year old my husband had an entire pizza to himself. The line was kind of congested a little so the lady whom made my pizza had to come and check me out to keep it moving. She was EXTREMELY nice + helpful. She looked like she may have injured her leg and she was still getting us napkins and make sure that we were okay. We ordered water for our drink but they had other options. One thing that I appreciated was the clean bathroom. You have to have a code to get in which is smart. We sat in the very front of the restaurant and I was able to people watch. The windows are big and provide some great natural lighting. Overall we enjoyed &Pizza and I would go back. read more

Barracks Row is one of the newer &pizza locations, and it is a good place for one. An area with tight parking but a nearby Metro stop, walkable from the Hill, and with many trendy upscale restaurants replacing the cheap fast food places, but not much in the fast casual arena. I'm amazed at how busy it was on an anonymous Monday evening; the staff were working hard and looked like they could have used another set of hands. But work hard they did, and I got my pizza in time to escape my metered parking before my quarters ran out. It was delicious as always. It's worth noting that the spicy sauce varies wildly in spiciness; I got the real kick on this occasion. I also asked for basil on top and got a basil forest rather than the usual couple of leaves, which nonetheless was well within the bounds of good taste. read more

Welcome to Barracks Row, &Pizza shop number 18! The first time I went to an &Pizza shop, it was a bit of a disaster. I've returned a few times since then, and when done right, it's five stars. While they have some awesome signature pizzas, I think the best way to go is to build your own. I practice no restraint at &pizza and load it up with toppings! Recently I tried the ancient grains crust, and I like it better than the traditional crust! For my base, I go with the classic tomato sauce and mozzarella (shredded blend and fresh). Then the veggies: spinach, mushrooms, grilled onions, maybe tomatoes and/or broccoli. Proteins: pepperoni, chicken, sausage, salami, and the showstopper: a sunny-side up egg! (You can also get a scrambled egg instead.) And then there's shrimp. I used to think shrimp &pizza was a weird combination (who would put shrimp on pizza?!?!?) - but think about it: shrimp cocktail is another variation of shrimp and tomato, so why wouldn't it work? Long story short, it does! Shrimp costs extra, so I don't always get it, but when I do, it sure is a tasty treat! Run it through the oven and then it's time for the finishing touches: arugula, sun-dried tomatoes, banana peppers, pickled red onions, goat cheese, parmesan, black pepper on top, maybe even some basil, feta cheese, and the aptly named moon cheese. (Moon cheese is a dehydrated cheese kind of like a crouton/crumble, but still soft.) It's a loud environment, because music is blasting and people are talking (and they have to talk over the music), so be sure to speak up when you order. Don't be bashful with the toppings - this is a no judgment zone! Everyone on the assembly line was friendly and made sure that they put on everything that I asked for. They were great listeners, and worked efficiently so that I didn't have to go ingredient-by-ingredient - they were well-trained for production and kept the line moving. When I got to the register, the cashier made sure that I got everything I wanted. I love how proactive their customer service is. Their excellent customer service, quality ingredients, and bottom-line delicious pizzas make me a fan of this brand. This is now my favorite fast-causal pizza place. A great addition to Eastern Market! Also, the Cherry Bomb housemade craft soda is The Bomb. It makes Shirley Temples accessible to everyone! read more

UPDATE after a visit on the evening of October 12, 2018: First of all, I must say I am a HUGE brand advocate of &pizza. I love their product, their stores, their culture, and their mission. They somehow have created a tasty brand that appeals to a wide range of people in this country. On top of that, they have a heart to give back to the community and treat their staff well. Because of this and a great in-store experience, I've rated multiple &pizzas 4-5 stars. This is my first 1-star rating of an &pizza location and it's after visiting the Eastern Market location multiple times. Here's why I downgraded them: 1) Service: Every time I go to this location, the majority of staff members treat me and a few others with constant disrespect. For example, tonight the gentleman in front of me was made fun of by a young woman and young man behind the counter. They rolled their eyes at him and spoke poorly about him behind his back. When it got to me and my wife, they ignored us for a good five minutes until begrudgingly taking our order. I chose my usual Farmer's Daughter order. As it went down the line, the same young woman looked at me rudely and asked what I wanted on it. I told her whatever comes on a Farmer's Daughter. She rolled her eyes and said, "Sir, I don't remember what's on a Farmer's Daughter. Tell me what you want on it." Shocked, I looked up at the menu and read the ingredients listed. In addition, I was never asked if I wanted white or wheat. I noticed these workers treated the same type of people with such disrespect and those who were more like them, they were okay with. That's just mean, rude, and the antithesis of good customer service. There's that and then the fact that they are just soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow at this location every single time I enter. 2) Food: I LOVE &pizza's pizza, but not at this location. Every time I come here, the pizza is not as hot as at other locations, the ingredients not as fresh, and the quality not as high. Somehow they manage to make a mediocre pizza not worth eating. 3) Space: It's small with an odd, cramped seating layout. It's often loud, creating an unenjoyable dining experience. I still love &pizza, but I will never come back to this location. Avoid it like the plague. read more

It's been such a long time since I visited & pizza and how excited I was for them to bring one to Eastern Market but my Saturday experience left much to be desired. I noticed the menu has changed and now they no longer carry wheat crust. Such a bummer but I could get over it. The customer service and cleanliness of the space was top concern. When walking into the shop no one greeted me with a "hello or Welcome to & Pizza". Walking up to the counter still no "hello, how can I help you" instead the two employees talked to each other laughing and looking over online or mobile orders. We had to wait a solid 3-4 mins before he was ready to take the orders. The counter was messy and veggies seemed to be mixed and thrown carelessly in the holders. I usually love this place and try to always support it but last night I was extremely disappointed. I ordered my normal Pizza via delivery and once I opened the box realized that not only was there no cheese on the pizza but there were also very little toppings of any kind. When I texted the number that it says to text if you have comments or feedback I was offered a five dollar credit. I spent over $13 on this pizza and I was not offered a full refund or a new edible pizza with the correct toppings. I am a big fan of &Pizza but last night I was highly disappointed. I ordered through Caviar and between the driver just being extremely late changing the delivery time three times and the pizza didn't even look like an &Pizza. It was short and one part of the pizza didn't even have tomato sauce when I ask for two different types of sauces. The toppings were spread far apart so that there wasn't that much on it. I think &pizza as a chain is pretty good but this location consistently disappoints. I order online for pickup up every once and a while and they almost always leave off an ingredient. UPDATE I walked in the other and walked out because: The sneeze guard (whatever the glass is that separates the food station from the public) is there for a reason - IT PROTECTS THE FOOD FROM CONTAMINATION. So why was the staff allowing a customer to reach over the food and stick his FACE past the glass? Why was he allowed to stick his HANDS past the glass to point at what toppings he wanted? The glass was covered in fingerprints, and it was all so gross! So I left because that man should have been asked to back off the glass. I'm not upset that they are now trying to charge the problem is they was geeking for me to pay for my pizza before I got to clarify my toppings (pizza was still in the oven begging for payment) and after I already paid I was told I had to swipe my card for 75 cents again. I have been to this location three or four times and it's always messy. There were five people behind the counter but the service was really slow on a Thursday night. It seemed like there was a holdup with getting my pizza and there were only two people in front of me: 1 pizza per person, too. The cashier (a female) had her pants down and exposing her underwear. Not a good look or particularly sanitary. When McDonald's is more tidy... Slow service and zero napkins in the store. 5 napkin dispensers were empty and the tables had not been wiped down. Crumbs and trash everywhere. Another woman behind the counter had to hunt in the store and back for napkins. Wth? My pizza was good but no green peppers or pork sausage. I don't know why they don't have green peppers or yellow peppers or any peppers. Peppers and sausage are pretty essential to making a pizza. No pork? Forgetaboutit.
