Really nice dinner- only negative was high sound levels by the groups around. The chicken quesadilla was delicious and came with salsa , sour cream and guacamole. Let's start with the food - there were a total of 10 of us in our party, and several said their food was good. If you're determined to eat here, things I recommend: The flatbread The cheeseburger The BBQ wings The desserts - but take note if ice cream doesn't come with it it's $3.00 extra ‍l What I highly recommend you stay away from: The bowl of pickles - they're sweet (but the menu doesn't say that) The Mahi tacos - the mahi is too salty and overcooked and the sauce is basically just mayonnaise; if they mixed something into it you can't taste it AT ALL! The salads - there's nothing special about them. OVERALL - it's a hotel restaurant so it's overpriced and the food, even the food dishes, aren't worth it in my opinion. If you want to spend real money on dinner there are plenty of other places within driving distance you can do that at. However, I'm giving this place 2 stars because the service wasn't good! There was our table, another couple inside, and perhaps some people dining outside (I couldn't tell) but if our server Ed (Edward) felt overwhelmed he should talk to his manager about getting him help. Edward was impatient, forgetful, and did not appreciate that we asked for one of the orders to be on a separate check. In fact, he asked us repeatedly if that's really what we wanted to do, even though we were upfront with him from the moment we ordered and continued to say yes each time he asked. And if it ended there then maybe I would've been more understanding. However, the next day, at the pool, which our entire party was enjoying we overhear Edward telling his manager how difficult we were and how he just "didn't need that". If you have difficult customers or were stressed and need to vent I understand, but there's a time and a place and in front of any patrons is NEVER the time or the place. That's just common sense. Everything else outside of the hotel is far away (not really walking distance) so if you want a quick meal or do not want to leave this will be the place. We went during the holidays and they were super busy but the staff was friendly and very quick. We had the hotel breakfast which was great. 5/5 stars for sure. My one star drops during lunch. We were by the pool and wanted to order something to eat. Nothing on the menu was vegetarian friendly for lunch so I was given the option for a cheese quesadilla - I was hoping I would have some other options, so that is why I am dropping one star. They could've made many different options but I felt like the one option is not good enough being the only restaurant at the hotel. Please don't eat here, I promise you the staff won't care as they put zero effort into the food. It's truly terrible, the French fires taste like cardboard and the burgers are bad. When we went to eat at the restaurant the first night , the server was extremely rude and walked away in mid conversation when we needed to change an order due to the quality of the food being over cooked and under cooked steak also very very salty steak and no A1 sauce which we asked for prior to ordering the steak. The guy brought us a bunch of hot sauce instead of what we asked for . After asking to speak to the manager we ended up getting better service and another food choice . but overall the customer service in this hotel was TERRIBLE. read more

For you non seafood lovers, they also have a wonderful Sauteed Short Rib, Pork Paillard and Farro Risotto among other offerings. McCoy's is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At breakfast you can order a la carte off the menu, or you can opt for the buffet. The buffet is full of wonderful choices and is not your average continental breakfast. Home fries, eggs and omelets cooked to order, applewood smoked bacon, sausage egg and cheese stuffed biscuits and buttermilk pancakes are just a few of the selections. McCoy's prides itself on custom cocktails and the Giggle Water with Crop Organic cucumber vodka and fresh lemonade pictured left, and the Alderman's Mule with New Amsterdam vodka, fresh lime juice and ginger beer were pretty tasty libations. The Fried Green Tomato Mozzarella is stacked with thick slices of mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes and fried green tomatoes with pesto and a balsamic glaze. Spicy Tuna Tartar is an elegant display of fresh and spicy tuna with avocado, wakame and wontons for dipping. You can't go to Pompano Beach and not get the namesake fish. The Braised Short Rib with caramelized fennel mash and oyster mushroom haricot verts with a horseradish cream sauce is an outstanding dish. The short rib itself was wonderful, but just as impressive was the caramelized fennel mash. Whether you want lunch or dinner, McCoy's has you covered. The Avocado Turkey Burger served on a honey wheat bun with ground turkey and an avocado puree was a delicious choice with plenty of flavor. If you're not sure about what to have for dessert, try the Best Of Both Worlds with a chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, creme brulee and a raspberry coulis. Very light, and very good. read more

I'm obsessed with this restaurant's fish! My husband and I celebrated our ten year anniversary with dinner here and a weekend stay at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa, which this restaurant is located within. Since fish is in the name of the spot, I figured I would order the salmon. Our server Craig was probably the nicest, most hospitality-focused server I've met in years, and he even brought us glasses of complimentary champagne and greeted us with a "happy anniversary" because I had booked the reservation in Open Table and marked it as our anniversary celebration. The salmon was insanely good, and the chef made it low carb at my request by substituting double veggies (broccoli and roasted tri-color mini carrots) instead of just a rice pilaf and one veggie the fish was supposed to come with. My husband ordered a classic margarita and quesadilla and was very happy with his dish, too. In short, I highly recommend this place in Pompano!! read more

P.S. you can see the entire review on the hotel review I did. We went to breakfast in the hotel. It was called McCoy's. We had an option for a over priced breakfast buffet or order from the menu. Also VERY over priced. We decided to order after seeing the limited buffet. I ordered an egg sandwich, asked for white break and no cheese with has browns well done. My wife ordered the same sandwich but with American cheese and well done has browns. It took about 18 mins to get our glasses of water and I never got my orange juice. After a complaint to another waitress we got our food 48 mins after ordering. At the same time we were getting our food they were buying a couple that sat before us the buffet because they hadn't received their food yet. My sandwich was on wheat bread with cheese and both of our hash browns looked like they were thrown on the grill and removed moments later, far from well done like asked. My wife ended up getting cheddar on her sandwich. We decided to suck it up and eat them because I was starving and wasn't gonna wait an hour for another sandwich. I was clearly not happy and the waitress came to our table a total of 3 times, one of which was to drop off our check without so much as removing a hash brown after the ridiculous wait. That was the experience and I can say the management staff in the hotel and the restaurant did absolutely nothing to make any situations that took place any better which is why I'm rating them a 1 star. read more

While it is convenient if you are staying at the Marriott, I wouldn't go there again unless I had to. For breakfast, the buffet, with made to order omelettes, is pretty good. I would give them 4 stars for breakfast. But we also had dinner one night (again, for the convenience) and wished we had gone out. My wife had the rice bowl, which was about as plain and tasteless as it could be. I had the turkey BLT which was average, but the bread was a little bit too tough and crunchy, even for sourdough. The service was pretty poor. I hope it was our waiters first night on the job, otherwise there are going to be problems down the road. If you have no other choice, it's not terrible food. But if you can get out, head down A1A to Lauderdale by the Sea. read more

My niece made reservations for Mother's Day lunch for my visiting sister, herself and me. This hotel is newer and has a beautiful ocean setting. They offered a special Mother's Day brunch.  As none of us are big eaters, she confirmed with the restaurant personnel that we could also order from the main menu. We ask for an indoor table as we were dressed nicely, coming in from church.  We made 1:30 reservations, arrived on time, and found the dining room only half full. The brunch ran until 3:00. We were seated promptly at the back of the room, even though there were closer tables with better ocean views.  Our waitress was very kind and attentive. We ask for a menu. She said she could only offer the buffet. We  explained we were told a regular menu would be available when we made the reservations. She left to check with the manager, came back and said the the buffet was all that could be served in the dining room. The manager was standing over by the podium where we entered and never once offered any explanation. He acted very pompous, and could not be bothered. I could understand if the room was busy, but it was not. The waitress once again went over to plead our case. When she came back, this time, we were told we could order from the menu, if we ate outside by the pool.  I commented that we would accept poolside, but I would write a review telling  of our treatment. She told us to wait, and when she came back, we were told that they would serve is in the dining room. At this point, my niece had checked out the pool area, said it was acceptable, and we had gotten up and started moving there.  We went on and enjoyed our lunch trying not to ruin our celebration. The waitress was very apologetic and gracious.  However the manager was not  The food was very good and we also ordered three of their speciality cocktails. When served, I was told that the cocktail I ordered was not available. The waitress offered me a mimosa on her. I thanked her but told her, that would not be necessary. Our bill for three sandwiches with fries and two cocktails came to $95 with tip. I feel it is a little overpriced, especially with the the.rudeness of the restaurant manager. read more

The "hotel restaurant" is a thing of the past. McCoy's has a friendly welcoming regular wait staff, along with a menu that stands above other fine dining establishments. With the location of this hotel (right on the ocean) and the menu that has very high quality food and variety, and impeccable yet comfortable indoor/outdoor ambiance- I would choose McCoy's over most other restaurants that appear on the "nearby" Yelp feed. Terry has been the bartender on all of my visits- good thing! He is attentive and his menu knowledge has never steered me in the wrong direction- what a great asset to the McCoy's team! You would never know that this isn't a "locally owned" restaurant. Chef and Terry make it feel just like home (but with an ocean and all of those cool wave sounds- and a beach). :) read more

We had such high hopes for lunch today but were so disappointed. The only reason we give it 2 stars is for the atmosphere outside. The fish chowder should not even be on the menu.. regret not taking a photo. It looked like mushy porridge with no garnish and zero flavor. The $13 Caesar salad was a side salad size and traditional. Fresh Express Caesar salad in a bag is what it compares to. Which is good at home but you expect more when you eat out. The bloody mary's were great except for the rotten celery sticks. That was a shocker.. they were not just a little dried out on the ends, they were brown with pits. Seriously gross. The quesadilla was actually pretty good. $90 for two for just the above was a kick in the gut... and hopefully not the gift that keeps on giving. read more

It's unfortunate that i have to give this place even 1 star just because they exist. The restaurant smelled horribly, but we proceeded. Hostes sat us but was not pleasant- would not reply to any "thank you" and made it seem like she was doing us a favor just because we requested a booth (there were only two other tables occupied in the entire restaurant). The waitress looked disheveled, which is usually not a good sign, but we went ahead and ordered a plate of hummus from her. We also asked for bread service and was again treated as if this were a favor. The hummus arrived before the bread. The pita chips looked amazing, but when i bit into them i realized they were terribly stale. There were what appeared to be fresh carrots on the side, but when my fiancé bit into them he almost puked- said they tasted like they had been sitting in a jar of preservatives since the great depression. Finally, as i gathered my bravery and scooped a bit of hummus onto a stale pita chip, a long white curly hair stare me in the face, and was still partially buried in the hummus. That was the last straw. We told the waitress about the hair and that we did not want the dish. Her response? None. She simply took the plate away without muttering a single word (no "sorry" "i apologize" nothing!) and then came back and stood over us in silence. We just walked out. This must have been the most awkward restaurant experience I've had ever. Not planning a return visit, to say the least. read more

Stayed at the hotel for a few days, ventured out and ate at a couple of different places, ate at the hotel as well. The hotel was the best food we had while in Fort Lauderdale. A couple of things to try for sure, sweet potato chips, The hummus dip and pita bread and the fried shrimp balls of some sort! They were delicious! Just to name a few! read more

I stayed at the Marriot where this restaurant is located. I ate here a few times since it was convent and we were able to eat it inside, outside, on the beach, or near the pool. Who could go wrong with that! Besides the convenience the food was pretty good! Like I said, I did have a few meals here and have tried the grilled cheese, turkey sandwich, chicken fingers, and Cesar salad. My favorite was the grilled cheese. It was gruyere cheese, tomato jam, and more. It was sweet and salty. Cesar salad was your traditional Cesar salad with focaccia croutons. I recommend for a light eat by the pool. I must mention that their thin fries were to die for! I also had a few drinks here such as the Pina colada. Nothing too fancy, just your average Pina colada. The food was a little pricy as well as the drinks ($12 frozen drinks) although expected since it is located at a hotel. Since I was already at the hotel we obviously didn't have to deal with parking or anything although, I did hear that if you are not staying at the hotel and just coming for a bite to eat, they will comp you for two hours of parking. I personally wouldn't go out of my way to eat here just because there are so many great restaurants about ten minutes from here. Like I said, it was more convenience. read more

Really poor-unorganized service. Arrived at 1:20 pm, was escorted to the patio. At 1:45 moved myself inside. No one even attempted to serve me, or offer water/cocktail. While I was on the patio, 2 other tables that self-seated themselves with the "patio" menu had already left the patio due to no attention. I was hungry, decided to move inside. I was greeted as I entered, and sat at a dirty table. Asked for an ice tea, delivered....still no place setting/dirty table. Tea needed sugar, asked another server to deliver sugar and please wipe my table. Ordered corn-crab chowder, FAIR. Shrimp cocktail- disappointing. Happy to leave at 2:25pm. Yes, I was polite and left 20%...but sad statement for a restaurant at a Marriott. This entire staff needs to be re-trained the Marriott Way. read more
