He was attentive and pleasant. He let me taste several of the craft beers before I selected one. He highly recommended the First Bank Smashburger with home cut fries. He informed me that the burger won first place at the Boca Burger Battle in 2025, making it the best burger in South Florida! The burger was spectacular! It had melted pepper jack and Gruyère cheeses with sautéed onions and mushrooms in a bourbon sauce. It was sweet and saucy. The fries were incredible as well. Wedged cut with skins on, the serving was hardy and delicious. I inquired about their superior taste and learned that they fry them in beef tallow. As you know, tallow is largely saturated fat but it has gotten better health reviews lately and it definitely adds great flavor. I enjoyed my lunch and I will be back! This neighborhood is definitely on the upswing with lots of renovations and new places to try.

Fast forward to today, and it's a completely different story. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The steaks were massive, juicy, and cooked to perfection, easily some of the best I've had anywhere, and I've paid top dollar at high-end steakhouses. The Hawaiian ribeye, in particular, was incredible, tender & juicy. The wings were huge and packed with flavor, honestly some of the best wings I could ask for. They've also stepped up their starters. The new bread with honey butter is insanely good, and the avocado eggrolls with tamarind sauce are absolutely next level. I added on the crab cake which is of insane quality, big lump pieces, it's actually hard to find breading. Service was just as impressive, attentive, smooth, and genuinely welcoming. I even had the chance to speak with the manager, Dani, who explained they made a major shift away from distributors that were hurting their quality. They went back to basics, focused on what made them great in the first place, and it shows in every bite. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, across any cuisine. J. You have to order the appetizer of Kartoffelpuffer, which is homemade potato pancakes served with sour cream and applesauce. Everything was absolutely delicious and full of authentic German flavor. The service was fantastic, and the staff were warm, attentive, and very accommodating. The interior was uniquely decorated with beautiful beer steins of all different shapes and sizes, creating a festive and charming atmosphere. There is also additional seating in the back under a large tent, making it a wonderful spot to gather with friends and enjoy the Oktoberfest festivities. I highly recommend Checkers old Munchen for its delicious German cuisine, great beer, excellent service, and an authentic Oktoberfest experience.
