Wednesday night at Twice Removed absolutely exceeded expectations. We started with the sticky ribs appetizer... the BEST it already had us planning a return trip just for the wings (my boyfriend swears they're the best he's ever had). For dinner, he got the honey chicken Sammy with sidewinder fries, and I went with the chimmichurri steak frites with curly fries... SO good. Everything came out piping hot, quickly, and you can tell the food and drinks are really thoughtfully crafted. What stood out most, though, was the customer service. The three main staff members Drew, Mel, and Darian (I think?) were incredible. Every single one of them went above and beyond for every guest the entire time. When we arrived, there were just a couple tables outside, but once it started raining, they seamlessly accommodated everyone inside without missing a beat. The vibe is such a cool mix, neighborhood spot meets speakeasy meets tiki with a slightly elevated feel, but still super comfortable. Everyone in the place seemed to know each other or quickly became friends. The music was great, and by 7:30 the live entertainment started, he was funny, engaging, and talented. We got there just in time to catch the tail end of happy hour for our first drink, and from there it just kept getting better. Drew, the bartender, even went out of his way to make me a specialty drink I had seen on Yelp that's no longer on the menu, such a thoughtful touch. Went to Twice Removed after a concert nearby in Wilton Manors and had a mixed experience overall. I really wanted to love the place because the atmosphere is great -- very comfortable, relaxed, and in a fun area to spend the evening. The bar and restaurant itself has a welcoming vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. I ordered the tuna appetizer, but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. To their credit, the staff handled it very professionally and took it back without any issue, which I appreciated. The rest of the table had a much better experience with their meals. The steak and salads especially got good reviews from everyone and looked very well prepared. Even though my dish missed the mark, the service and atmosphere were solid enough that I'd still consider giving eTwic another try in the future. Sometimes one item just doesn't hit, and there were definitely enough positives about the restaurant to make me curious to come back and try something different next time. Fantastic bar bistro in North Beach, laidback ambience, terrific service and they have every variety of poutine you can imagine. The food is fantastic: I never really thought of traditional poutine (basically fries with cheese curds and gravy over it) as my kinda thing, but curry chicken poutine was amazing...count me as converted, French Canadian folks! From the front door to the table and even leaving the place, the staff was jovial and helpful. Our server Nadine was helpful with explanations, very friendly and funny. Well, it's been four years since we went back to twice removed and I've got to tell you they've upped their game and their food and drinks are still amazing You gotta love the atmosphere in the bar. It has that reserved adult bar feeling with a fun atmosphere. The service was good. They were busy and the staff was doing their best to keep up with everything. We did a shared appetizer night and we had the chicken wings, rib tips, french fries and the Tostones Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and amazing What blew us away was their fried Oreo dessert and their chocolate mousse I'm sorry to say it this way but if you have a sweet tooth, this is a wet dream come true . We got a pretzel that was fantastic, some fried pickles that were pretty good too. The entrees were average at best. My daughter got crab cake sliders and said they didn't have much flavor. My wife and I both got burgers and both were significantly overcooked compared to how we ordered them--which was disappointing. The fries were pretty good though as the side. I found Twice Removed on Yelp and my friends and I decided to give it a try on a Friday night. This small little place was really a great find. On the smaller side with limited sitting but we were able to get a table since they were not very busy. I do think that if it becomes popular it might be an issue with the sitting part. To start I ordered the Brasilia drink (Tequila, Cachaça, Chambord, Watermelon, Peach and Lime). i was very happy about my choice and the combination of all things made it really good and not sweet (which I like). My friend got the Pink Panther and was thrilled with her choice (Tequila, Cassis, Agave, Lime, Plum bitter, Habanero sugar). We ordered the Callaloo and Spinach Dip for the table (Baby spinach, Garlic, Dijon, Bechamel, Parmesan). It was extremely cheese, I think the amount of bechamel also was very overpowering and it could definitely use more spinach. I wasn't really thrilled about it. As my main entree I chose the Hot Honey Poutine (Sidewinder, Red hot and honey, garlic aioli and parmesan). Its not a huge portion but it was enough for me. I thought it was very delicious and love the concept of having fries and chicken all together with that spicy and delicious sauce. The service was good for the most part. Everything was so good. I've been here twice and honestly the second time was just as great as the first. We started with the Spinach dip. My husband got the fish and chips, his friend got the spice burger and I got the jerk chicken gyro. Hands down one of the best gyros ever. We ended with the fried oreos. Headed for a 5 star review until I got my bill: I was charged $1.00 per drink extra for "no egg whites" in my drink when the menu said "$1.00 extra FOR egg whites". The server took care of that. Also, there was a credit card fee added to the bill where I don't believe it was listed on the menu or signage up front. I had cash so I would've used that if I knew. Also got home and noticed I got charged full price for the spinach dip when it was on the happy hour menu. We immediately appreciated the cool dark vibe, and the super friendly staff. We ordered 3 items off the happy hour menu and drinks. My cocktail was a Peanut Butter Old Fashioned. Sounds weird but was delicious. We also had bourbon nuts, ropa Vieja poutine and truffle fries. Everything was great but the warm sticky bourbon nuts were perfect for ice cream, which they had on the regular menu so we finished the visit with vanilla ice cream on warm sticky roasted nuts with a Carmel drizzle. The night that I went was Thursday and the music was at the right level to be able to speak without an issue. No smoking inside, anything goes outside. We arrived at Twuce Removed at 8:00 PM with no reservations and were told that even with open tables they weren't seating for 30 minutes because they were short-staffed and slammed. As a diner, I didn't love that decision, but as former wait-staff, I fully applauded their decision to make a few people wait so that everyone could have a better experience. We agreed to wait, and we were not disappointed. The wait staff worked together and really hustled, all while maintaining their calm, professionalism, and personality. It was the personality that won us over before we even got to the food. There is indoor and outdoor dining here but indoor was our preference for the AC and the atmosphere. It's a small comfortable gastropub. (I hate that term but this is the kind of place the word was coined to describe.) The vibe was a lot like going to a friend's place for dinner. Lots of laughter. Good music in the background. Great food. People you like all around. Really that was one of the best things. The laughter from the other tables was contagious enough that we felt like we were having a good time with them, not just beside them. And the food and drinks added so much to the pleasure of this night. I wanted a hard cider but what I ordered wasn't on tap. The waiter (not ours, we had a waitress, but this guy spent almost as much time with us because he was bartending and they were working all the tables together) came to explain what they did have and then his eyes lit up and he said," ... or we have Pineapple Hula". I love pineapple and couldn't resist. It was delicious! My friend enjoyed a Margarita. We ordered the Cauliflower wings and they were yummy! My friend ordered the Churasco with Twisted Frites. It was tender and scrumptious I chose the Ropa Vieja which was savory and tasty enough to give Padrino's some competition. We ordered a second round and stayed late to chat. The bar is classy and chic. The staff was friendly and very observant on what we needed and let us take our time. The music was at the perfect volume allowing us to have a full conversation yet still hear the music. The TVs on the wall had football playing and one of the TVs had trivia that you could play along with on your phone. The drinks were top notch!!!! We started out with Naked on a Plane and the double Barrel both came out so well balanced. The second drinks we had were the pecan old fashion and a Smokey mezcal drink that came in a box that was filled with smoke. Again these drinks did not disappoint!!! The food was excellent...the truffle fries as someone else reviewed were so good and not over powered by the truffle. The sliders were so good, they had this charred taste and sweetness from the carmelized onion. The pernil tacos were probably some of the best I have ever had!! The flavors were on point.
