What a vibrant restaurant! It is truly one of the most colorful places to eat. The decor was bright, shiny, and uplifting; there is ample parking in the lot; the young man who sat us did so quickly after we walked in the door; our server (Sophie) came over lightning fast and took our drink orders. Every Mexican restaurant I visit I always get horchata. Anaya's version was different than other places, it was a darker color so maybe it has more cinnamon (or they used a different rice). It was good, don't get me wrong. So good I almost ordered more to take home. Sophie was very patient and kind. She had to keep coming over to inquire about taking our order because we were too busy yapping with a friend we hadn't seen in so long that we weren't even looking at the menu. Really loved the environment for date night! The art kept us talking while we sipped our horchata and margarita, both of which were great and we are picky about horchata! Amazing! My wife and I have lived in the area for 8 years and we've been trying to find a local Mexican food spot like this ever since we first moved here. The chef/owner Joey, along with all of the other staff, were friendly and knowledgeable. The interior was a great blend of modern and local type feel. Margaritas were the size of my head and delicious. Salsa, guac, and the bean dip were all great starters. They accommodated my wife's food allergies and diet without any issue. Basically, anything on the menu could be made to fit her restrictions. Joey recommended the chicken mole / steak combo (forgot the name of the dish) and it was all amazing. Just be wise with the number of tacos you order. They look street size but they are filled to the rim with the meat of your choice. I was hungry for some Mexican Food and Anayas had a 4.5 rating, so, why not since I was close by. Service was excellent and chips and salsa had an added side of refried beans with taco meat mixed into it. I ordered the chicken chimichanga for my main dish and it was just okay as I have had much better a lot of other places. The tortilla was totally cooked through and mushy on the ends, could have been fried a little longer. Taste was okay too, nothing memorable about it. A large flour tortilla hugs your favorite breakfast meat (your choice of ham, bacon, chorizo, sausage, machaca, or carne asada), eggs, potato, and cheese. It's everything you want in a hot bundle of Mexican food goodness. It was so good that my shirt started stealing my food. JOYCIE DOESN'T SHARE FOOD! Nothing like fishing a squishy bit of succulent meat from inside your shirt. We also got the Arizona Chimichanga (your choice of chile verde or chile Colorado with beans and cheese on the inside and topped with lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole), enchilada-style, and served with rice and beans. They also included chips and salsa with our takeout order. The chimichanga was pretty darn delicious and the beans and rice were decent. I love the chips and salsa included. What's happenin', hot sauce!? The staff is really friendly here and it's so colorful inside. They have a huge menu offering some tasty-sounding eats as well. Have been to Anayas over a dozen times for take out. Their Posole and shrimp cock tail where very good. Went last Friday the 4th of April & picked up some food. Posole was real nasty with big pieces of bone and the little pork there was had big chunks of fat on it. Shrimp cocktail was all right but not as good as usual. The Chicken taco plate was real bad & thru it in trash. Not sure what is going on but wont be back. Which is to bad since food used to be good. read more

This place was spectacular. We were seated right away at their fun colorful booths. Their chips and salsa really hit the spot - definitely on the spicier side but still so good, couldn't get enough! My main reason for the 5 stars is because of the service. Plates were brought to us very fast, waters were refilled right on time, and new chips and salsa's were always coming. My wife and I were excited to try this restaurant. We were welcomed and seated immediately in a window booth. Salsa and warm chips were brought to us while listening to mariachi music. The salsa had a good bite. My wife ordered Tacos Mexico with Shrimp. I ordered Chicken Mole. Our server was first rate. She brought my wife some cream sauce for her tacos because she couldn't eat tomatoes. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The mole was the best I've had yet. First time at Anaya's Mexican Restaurant and everything on the menu sounded and looked so delicious we wanted to try it all !! This was my full course meal for the night. Starting off with some chips and salsa and a mangonada margarita made just right by our great bartender Yeya :) Then came the entree with rice that was just sooo creamy! The salmon had just the perfect amount of seasoning. The dessert was amazing! My husband had the deep fried ice cream and I had the flan. We left completely satisfied by the food decor, the food flavor/dessert/drinks and great customer service from everyone that works there. Something that really impressed me is that the Joey who made our dinner came out and asked us how we were enjoying our food and I thought that was awesome! I'm not sure what all of the low ratings on this place are unless it's a bunch of malcontents who find problems with everything and think they're giving out Michelin stars. We came on Friday night, the staff was personable and attentive without being over bearing. My husband ordered a house margarita and it was really smooth and limey and the portion was more than generous. All of the portion sizes were good not American wholly cow enormous but we're an actual serving size and a half. We had a chicken quesadilla it was excellent and crispy. My pollo fundido was possibly the best I've ever had (and as a native Arizonan that is saying something.) The salsa flavor was outstanding, if you think it's too spicy order a side of Pico and dump it in. The chips were super fresh. The place is decorated very similar to On The Border but customized and the music is sort of an upbeat Mexican fusion. Overall great experience from the gentleman at the door, the waitress, and even the gentleman busing were all wonderful! Ok..I I've pass threw this place several times and we finally decided to give it a shot. It wasn't terrible it was alright with being alright I mean the michelada I had was not good no taste. I enjoyed the machacha breakfast and my daughter enjoyed the huevos rancheros. My machaca was perfect! I loved the red bell peppers as well as green, and the onions sautéed together. Anayas has become a comfort restaurant for many reasons. The food here is authentic, we'll seasoned, and consistently good. After having many dishes on the menu it's safe to say there's no bad choice. Sophie has been me and my partners server here and there during our visits and always looks pleased to see returning guests. Her service is spot on and always respectful, attentive, knowledgeable, and charming. She even ran out my girls purse after leaving it in our booth. On top of all that, the look of the Anayas is 'hole in the wall' meets 'art installment' meets 'abuelas house'.
