Burrito California
Jordan H.

New-ish to the block, I was very happy with my food here. The salsas are all pretty good and both the burritos and nachos were worth coming back for. Ambiance could do with a little something extra but that's not too important to me.

Chimichanga Fact: It is believed that the chimichanga was created by accident in the 1940s at Macayo's Mexican Food when the founder dropped a burrito into a deep fryer. The first time I popped in, I came with some co-workers for a work lunch. I ordered the #12 Chimichanga Style for $16.99 because who doesn't love a deep-fried burrito? It came with beans, rice, pico de gallo, and some guacamole. It was a generous portion and fed me for two meals. It was delicious and I went back to work trying to fight off a food coma the rest of the day. We also shared some churros. The second time I came, I shared a breakfast burrito and chilequiles. Both were just as amazing. The burrito was left and the chilequiles had some crispy chips along with some saucier ones. I recommend getting your chilequiles with the Jalisco sauce if you can handle spice. It certainly has me sweating. I like this place. I want to come back for their menudo. Two thumbs up.

Chips and salsa- not free

This food was fine but not amazing. I saw a reel on instagram for it so came when I was on this side of town. My food was $30 with the meal and chips and salsa which are NOT INCLUDED. The cheese in the enchilada and chile were not melted and cold. The beef taco was the best part and the beans are incredible. The rice has zero flavor. Really wasn't a fan. There was also no one in the restaurant and took a very long time to get order.

Came here for big back Sunday dinner with some friends. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the loteria decor! Service was excellent, the cashier was very friendly, and our food came out quickly. You order at the register, and the food is brought to your table. The food was all delicious! I got the 2 fish taco combo, with an horchata to drink. The horchata was great, not to sweet, which is what I prefer. The tacos were huge and delicious! I thought the thinly shredded cucumber on the taco added great flavor to it. The portion sizes here are excellent, and you really get your monies worth. My friend got the 5 piece chicken flautas ahogadas, and a side of fries. The flautas were fantastic, nice crunch and the sauce was delicious. My other 2 friends got the crispy taco combo and the carne asada nachos, which both looked excellent as well, and they raved about. They have a few different locations around the valley. This place is so much better than filibertos or similar chain restaurants. Give them a try next time your craving some good Mexican food!

Food: 3/5 Service: average Ambiance: simple, clean Details: came here for taco Tuesday to try it out. They do have a taco Tuesday deal which it isn't posted anywhere. Their street taco is $2.99 reg price. For taco Tuesday, I believe they were around $2.70 (don't remember the exact amount). I got some carne asada street tacos and I also got a fish taco. I found one the fish tacos weren't included in the taco Tuesday deal. Again, it is not posted anywhere on the menu or counter. My food came out hot which was great so it is fresh. I got a couple of their salsa to try as well but I didn't find their tacos as exciting. Flavor-wise, it felt a bit lack of flavor even with the salsa. I added a bit of salt and pepper, which made it better but food could be better. I did really like the fish taco. The fish was flavorful and seasoned well. The combination of the lettuce and chipotle sauce goes well with it.

#4 Quesabirria Combo

I loved the tacos at the Chandler drive thru location and heard they had a larger Tempe location. It is located on a corner with multiple entrances and service begins at the counter. I chose the quesabirria combo which was lit. It did not disappoint. However, I must give a disclaimer if you have heart conditions you know you can't eat these too often because they are not healthy but they are so good. There are three full-size tacos, loaded with beef and cheese dipped in the oil and come with the consommé. It also came with beans and rice. I could not eat all 3, but I am not a very good Mexican They had individually wrapped vegetables and salsas. The sitting area was well lit and the decor was not tacky. You could get a nice pic with your date looking through the large cutout. Overall, it's a great place to enjoy a great meal and I'll be going back and bringing some reinforcements.

Wow this was so yummy!! This place was so clean, even the bathroom was clean. the workers were friendly. We even got our food fast. The food was well seasoned as well. My only complaint is it's a pricey. I think this is a once in a while treat.

Order at the counter, grab your salsa, pickled onions, limes at the salsa bar, and find your table. They bring your food to the table. I had an asada burro. It was nicely filled with chopped meat, onions and cilantro... but not particularly tasty. Hubby had 2 tacos. His asada taco was "the best $5 taco" he's ever had. They serve on actual plates (good) but give you plastic utensils (bad). We've had some great Mexican food over time. This, for me, didn't compare well.

Been looking for good Mexican food since moving to the area from SoCal. This place hit the spot. Food, the service in the front, and just the vibe. It wasn't busy-busy when we came. Order first then sit kind of place. The taquitos and chicken tacos were great and flavorful. Hadn't had Jamaica since moving and man it didn't disappoint. P.S. get the macha salsa!

Fantastic food! Amazing very nice young woman greeted and helped us through the menu choices. We had a carne asada sopa, birria taco and the flautas ahogadas. While we waited I nibbled on baggies of pickled carrot and onion, very tasty. I ordered 5 flautas, 10.99. It came in a bowl with cojita, pickled onion, cream, avocado and thinly sliced tomatoes. The flutes were filled with shredded beef. I took a bite from each one, to allow each to soak up more wonderful spice from the salsa soup. It had a spicy lime flavor, perfect with the flautas. The birria taco was cheesy excellence and the consommé for dipping, beautiful! Sopa was on point, toppings all tasty! Watch out for the 'super hot' salsa at the bar, whoa!! Total bill was $24 for two.

Horrible. Worst California burrito I have ever had. Instead of French fries inside there were these greasy potato discs. Meat was flavorless

The rest of the staff was also very attentive and kind. The perks of being a bigger party everyone orders something different and you get to try it all lol the food was good but nothing stood out as super delicious. We tried their chips and salsa, green chile cornbread, potato tacos, egg rolls, pozole, the pasta, shrimp cocktail, the chile rellenos, and the steak. The dishes I would not order again are the potatoes, the churro ice cream. The potatoes were super crispy/dry. The churro ice cream was also crunchy and dry, not what I want for my potato or churros. The pozole taste was good but the consistency is not what you expect from the pozole. Overall it was a good experience.

I'm huge on customer service and I had amazing customer service. My server Mario was attentive and checked on me often. Another major thing I want to mention is the bathrooms are every clean. This is for the men's so I can't speak on the women's bathroom but I'm sure it's just as clean. So now on to the food. When you are seated get chips and salsa. Chips are nice and warm. Salsa. Was delicious and flavorful. For my meal I ordered the shrimp agua chile and holy shit...it's fresh and made to order, so keep in mind that it will take a bit for it to come out. For drinks I had a Corona Michelada and a house margarita. I'm quite picky with my micheladas and I was extremely satisfied. So satisfied that I ordered another. The shrimp agua chile is very flavorful. I added Avacado which was an up charge...no big deal. The sauce that the agua chile comes in was packed with flavor and because it's made to order...I was able to ask for it to be made not too spicy so it had just the right kick. Overall Anayas fresh Mexican Restaurant is EXCELLENT. I have family coming in to town soon and I'm definitely going to be making reservations. I love breakfast, especially Mexican breakfasts and I love enchiladas. Anaya's has scrambled egg and spinach enchiladas with the most delectable enchilada sauce I've Ever had. If there is extra I'll mix the sauce in with the rice to get every bit of it. Have to restrain myself from coming in daily. Sometimes I think I've even dreamed about this meal. Had the Mango Margarita that was super large and came in a glass made in Mexico that looked like a giant martini glass. It was delicious. I am also uplifted by the colorful charm of the decor and art. Absolutely in love with the carved chairs and booth backs. It makes me feel I'm back in parts of Mexico (hope it never changes). One day I'll come for dinner after looking at all the yummy photos taken by others.

My family went fully vegetarian, with me taking the house specialty mushroom quesadilla with corn tortilla. Freaking delicious. Near perfect salt level, with cheese as a textural element adding gooeyness to the grilled onions and crisped tortilla. The tortilla melds in the mouth with the tender mushrooms for a perfect bite; the filling even imparts complementary flavor into the tortilla. The drinks here are only non-alcoholic, but yummy.
