I've been wanting to come here for some time. Coming with a group of friends we had a great time, and the food was very good. Turkish/Mediterranean food which I particularly enjoy. I was expecting the ambiance to be a bit more upscale but the casual cafe style was quite pleasant. Plus the staff was incredibly professional, friendly and accommodating. They were most patient in giving us time to decide in amongst our chatter. They also gave us time lines for food preperation with certain selections in case we had time constraints, which we didn't. The menu is very broad and interesting. I was intrigued to see the variety of authentic dishes. I especially like eggplant and there's a wide array of eggplant selections. We started with appetizers of Babaganouch and Feta filled Filo pastry. It came with nicely charred pita bread and it all was excellent. I ordered the Lamb Saute that came with rice and pickled vegetables, onions. Overall, I'd say the entree was just OK. I found it didn't have the rich flavor I hoped for, yet everything was fresh and well prepared. I tasted another entree with a smokey eggplant puree (Sultans Delight) and it was exceptional. Now I know what to get next time! We shared desserts of kunefe and rice pudding. I was quite full at that point so just tried the kunefe which was awesome. The consistency with honey blended together beautifully. So tasty. The surprise was the Yogurt drink which I was most curious over. The server kindly brought me a sample to try as it does take an acquired taste. I liked it and got a full tumbler of it. It's rich, refreshing and not what I expected, almost like a buttermilk. They are a unique appetizer that consists of rice, seasonings, and veggies. I highly recommend this! My favorite main to order is the lamb kabobs. Why? The meat is tender, it's also seasoned well. We had a great meal to celebrate my friend's birthday! We made a reservation for a Friday night, and were greeted with the most inviting smells as soon as we walked in. We also really enjoyed the vibe, as the Turkish lamps and decorative dishware around the dining room were beautiful. We did think it was awkward that they sat us right next to the only other two parties that night, close enough to hear all conversations, while the other (larger) half of the restaurant was totally empty. But our booth faced the open kitchen, where you could see the chefs's heads moving around/hard at work so maybe that was the intent? Now, I'm pretty indecisive when it comes to menus with more than one page. I feel obligated to read every dish, before making a decision. The staff were incredibly helpful in helping me narrow down my options, and I enjoyed the flavors of the adana bowl that I finally chose. We also ordered dolmas and baklava for the table to share. At one point, the owner or chef came out to check how we enjoyed our meals, which was a nice touch. All in all, it was a solid restaurant choice for Mediterranean food in Rocklin. If I could get this 0 stars I would, overpriced low quality food. I ordered the lamb sultan plate and paid $24 for some mushy unseasoned eggplant and the smallest portion of meat. It looked like they defrosted some vegetables and heated up some microwaveable rice for the sides. The salad was just some cut up raw lettuce, tomatoes, and onions with no dressing. Overall extremely disappointed with the quality of food and lack of generosity on the portion sizes, particularly the protein. They served the tiniest portion of meat for the kofta plate. The service was good and the waitstaff were friendly but overall quality was lacking for the price you pay. You can find authentic Turkish food anywhere else for a fraction of the price. Lunch that took me right back to Turkey We came to Anatolian Table for lunch and were genuinely blown away. The food, the hospitality, the atmosphere, it all reminded me so much of being in Turkey. Decided to check this place out based on the reviews. The service was attentive and the staff was very welcoming. We started with the babaganoush and baked mushrooms. The eggplant dip was delicious however the mushrooms were just baked and covered with cheese. They had no stuffing and were very underwhelming for $15-def would pass on those next time. Ok, so just for starters, we loved the prior location. They moved to this new location and we wanted to give them our business. We came in on a Saturday early evening, expecting to have a wait. Both dishes were as good as we had remembered. No issues there at all. What concerned us was that this new space is one big open dining floor, with a very high ceiling, creating a cafeteria like atmosphere. The prior location had such character and charm, along with a nice outdoor seating area. Here there is nothing... just a big echoey space. And, had there been any other patrons besides us and 2 other booths... you get it. There was nobody there during what should be a busy Saturday dinner hour. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and were surprised to find the restaurant to be relatively empty. We were immediately seated and warmly welcomed. This was our first time eating Turkish food, so we got recommendations for the mixed kebap platter and the Sultan's Delight with Lamb. The food took about 15minutes to arrive and was well worth the wait! I personally loved the rich, creamy eggplant sauce, which reminded me of a creamed spinach. The lamb was excellently spiced and cooked with a little a more chew to it. You could definitely appreciate the lamb flavor without any of the gaminess. All of the kebaps were full of flavor and still juicy. We liked the Adana kebap the most. We like spicy food, but can't tolerate anything super spicy, so the Adana was a great pick. We had the option of getting the kabobs with yogurt instead of the platter with rice, but found that the small cup of yogurt with the platter was plenty. We also ordered Kunefe for dessert, which was a nice, lightly sweet finish to the meal. The mozzarella added a fuller body of flavor and the nuttiness of the pistachio made the bites even better! Our servers checked in on us multiple times during our meal and ran out the door to catch up with us when we forgot our leftover boxes on the table! The menu is not redolent of the usual Middle East fast food choices. This is a great local spot that I recently discovered after being in the area 3 years. The food is flavorful and the portions are substantial. My personal favorites are the spicy hummus and kunefe (I always leave some room for dessert specifically for this). We ordered quite a bit from the menu to try out everything: Adana Kebap with yogurt, Mixed Grill, Beyti Kebap with yogurt, İskender kebap with yogurt, aryan drink, Baked Rice Pudding, Kunefe and Chai. The Adana Kebap was deliciously seasoned and everything came with a side of fresh vegetables (lettuce, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and beets). All the dishes were beautifully presented as well. I got to try bits of pieces of the other dishes, but there were no leftovers from anyone, including my parents who have never had Turkish food before. If it's Mom approved it's everyone approved. The Rice pudding was light, chilled and yummy! The Kunefe is my favorite and it was so good I wish I had more. It's perfectly sweet and definitely recommend dessert with chai (tea). We ordered the Sultan's Delight with lamb. It was good and came with a roasted eggplant spread under the lamb. Also ordered a side kabob which came with yogurt. Had a little kick to it. We ended it with Turkish coffee. It was a lot of food. If you have a big group, this would be a good place to come. They have a lot of room and a lot of different dish's which would be fun to share.
