I ordered the chicken plate, which came with chicken topped with tzatziki, rice, garlic hummus, and warm pita bread. I've been a loyal customer to Express hero since 2020. I love Greek food and this is the best Greek food place I've ever been to. The owner and staff are polite and wonderful people. I always get the all meat gyro, spicy, and it never disappoints. The only thing I can say is it surprised me when my 10-year-old daughter ate it faster than me. It's "Express" Gyro so quality/taste is very similar to "Taco Express" but we don't have the significant price savings for this place. Ordered a Beef Lamb plate which prices $5 more than the Mediterranean place by my house... Only one Pita included, it was thick/chewy, the classic hummus kind of basic flavored. The meat looks/feels/tastes cheaper and constrained to one corner of the box. There is a lot of rice if you consider that as a ratio to your overall meal. read more

Just go to the restaurant web site and the menu with photos is there, and simple to navigate. The order consisted of two meat plates of beef and lamb, with a choice of sides. I opted for the spicy cilantro hummus. The plate comes with a small salad, rice, and half a pita bread. To compliment the order I also got the Greek salad, an order of Greek fries and two orders of falafel (4 per orde). Everything was ready and packaged well for travel when I arrived... OK, an insignificant short wait, but the owners are very nice and personable, and appreciate the business. Overall, the portions are quite generous and the food is very good, hearty and tasty. The fries were very good the meat fresh and delicious, rice was fluffy and salad fresh as well. It isn't high end Greek cuisine, but quite satisfying simple Greek dishes, taverna style. I was hungry, so I ate most of it except the hummus ( it was just salt, not much of flavor) its texture wasn't smooth, proof that it was homemade. Though that it will be grill since it's Mediterranean but it was more oven cook then boil with yellow spices (maybe turmeric) But the main reason why I gave 2 stars is their hygiene code!!! Both worker at the front didn't wear gloves, mask or hair net plus they were chit chatting while preparing food... specially on these pandemic days.. everyone should be more concern. I wouldn't post any of the workers pics showing that they aren't wearing any gloves/mask/hairnet since I think it's inappropriate to show their faces. They have a big parking lot and parking is free. This place reminds me of Extreme Hummus in Citrus Heights, same ownership? Been here for lunch 2 or 3 times in the last few months. Mixed feelings on this one. The service is very friendly and efficient. Employees are really nice. The dining area is clean and comfortable enough. Hummus and baklava are excellent. However, meats are hit and miss. The gyro meat has a very soft texture, I don't think it's fresh off a rotisserie spit. The chicken tastes better but my shawarma wrap came in lavash bread and not a pita. And the lavash disintegrated into a soggy mess after just a couple of bites. Not sure if we'll be back, since the wife found the gyro meat unpalatable. read more

I wouldn't order the beef and lamb gyro again. We tried both the hot sauce and the spicy cilantro sauce and they are very heavy on the vinegar. Cilantro sauce was spicier than the red sauce. Greek fries were just ok, tzaziki, hot sauce and feta cheese made for a very tart bite. The good: the falafel (which will take about 8 mins to make) was delicious! Nice texture, has a crunch but isn't crispy. Soft on the inside, heavy on the cumin. So tasty! Baklava was the nicest one I've had in a while. Not cloying sweet or super sticky, great taste and texture. BD liked his Greek salad. Said there was dried herbs mixed in that made it exciting. Saffron ice cream was enjoyed by all.
