They gave us the backstory to how Ella's came to be and did an amazing job explaining every wine we tasted. We were a little scared that we wouldn't be able to support this spot because we had our big fur child with us and they don't have a patio but they not only allowed Frank to enter the premises, they had a water bowl for him so he could drink with us! He was determined to turn me into a wine drinker. I told him it was possible but white wines were out of the question. Then one day, at a local wine shop in Long Beach, he picked up a bottle of Union Sacre Sylvaner and I found a bottle that converted me into a white wine person. So on our most recent trip to the Central Coast, we had to stop by my now favorite winery and have a tasting. I forget the young lady's name who helped us out but she was amazing and balanced all the parties on the patio super well, providing a great experience and wine knowledge to everyone. The weather on the Central Coast is amazing and sitting out on the patio was such a great vibe and although I have every intention of visiting new wineries throughout the coast, I will make it a point to regularly visit this one. Hayseed is one of several cool hangs in a little complex of tasting rooms on the back side of pine street businesses. Holly was laid back, friendly, and informative. She explained to us with a visual aids how her sparkling wine is produced and talked us through each wine on the tasting menu ($15 to taste, waived with 1 bottle purchase! Basically unheard of cheap for the area). We even received a fun bingo sheet to interactively identify nose, flavor and texture notes of each wine on the menu. The bingo sheet is curated by the owner/winemaker and his wine loving friends, and was an entertaining accompaniment and informative to check your picks off of the winemaker's notes. Oh, and as an added bonus, each wine is paired with a local charity with partial proceeds from purchase going to that charity. Feels good to be supporting a good cause. I will be back!

The kind of wines that make you pause mid-sip and go, "okay, this is something special." Smooth, balanced, and seriously well-crafted. Honestly, it didn't take much convincing after that. My first visit was back in December 2019, before any of us knew what was coming in 2020. A group of us girls were in Paso Robles for the weekend, ended up here during our wine tasting adventures, and had the BEST time. I still remember us sitting around laughing, drinking wine and enjoying ourselves so much that we practically shut the place down. It became one of those memories from that trip that always stuck with me. Fast forward to September 2026, and I was back in Paso celebrating my 45th birthday with my partner. I told her there was one little wine tasting spot I really wanted to find again. Sure enough, I found Indigené, tucked away in the same little alleyway I remembered, and we headed over after brunch. And once again, SUCH A GOOD TIME. Raymond, the owner, is an absolute gem. We sat outside at one of the high-top tables tucked into the alley and settled in for our tasting. As locals came in and out to say hello, you could immediately tell Raymond is someone who is genuinely loved in the community. It didn't feel stuffy or overly serious. It felt like sitting around with good people, talking, laughing and drinking some really good wine. We started with a tasting and let's just say...the pours kept coming. There were several wines I really enjoyed, but the 100% Syrah was definitely one that stood out to me. We ended up buying a few bottles to take home, and by the time we finally got off those stools, we both knew an afternoon nap was calling our names. Almost seven years between visits and somehow the same great feeling. Indigené is officially one of our Paso stops now. Whenever we're back in town, we're stopping in to see Raymond. Good wine. She's a treasure! There's an unmistakable sense of warmth and community here. Even during the short time we spent there, a steady stream of people stopped in for a glass or simply to exchange greetings, which speaks volumes about how welcoming and inviting the atmosphere truly is.
