I came in today, Tuesday July 29 at 2pm, left at 2:50 with no help at all. I came to change my bill to my new address. The worker "Veronica" helped us, we understood she looked a bit frustrated because it was busy. But, this doesn't mean we should be treated poorly, she also did this with other guests. She asked for us to get information from the old renter and so we did. But, she made us wait back in line. Something I find extremely unfair since we got the information quickly. We were there for almost an hour just to have to come back tomorrow. There were only two workers at the front desk and another worker just helped one person and left. Edit: I came in again, Veronica didn't help me but the guy on window #3 did and, he did AMAZING. I wasn't able to get his name. He was super helpful and got us out as soon as possible. My mom felt as if Veronica was picking "favorites" because she treated other customers today with respect and patience. read more

Their condescending employees are still condescending assholes. I had to change the card on my account for autopay and they refused to change it over the phone. I tried the automated system but it kept saying 2THOUSAND dollars, and 2HUNDRED THOUSAND dollars when I was just saying $230.00. I tried to talk to another representative and the guy was a complete dick. He said, three times, IT'S OUR POLICY, noticeably getting angrier each time. I wanted to talk to his supervisor and he transferred me to the regular call line. The last lady finally told me it was sa law that they can't take card info on a recorded line blah blah blah. I'm thinking to myself, why is this so difficult? Why couldn't they just tell me that at the beginning? I made a point to have the lady reset my email so I could change my password to change it. The problem is they know we have to pay them and have no choice. They have no reason to be halfway decent because their paychecks don't depend on customer service. They're also trained to never forward calls to higher ups for any reason, and have scripts to read. 9 times out if 10 the scripts don't actually match the issues they're reading them for because they don't use critical thinking or speak to their customers like they're human. In short, if you have an issue that is legitimately within their job description, they will do absolutely nothing and blame you for their refusal to do anything. read more

The most stupid team you'll find here for sure. I called three times just to move the service to a new address, but they managed to give me a different requirements, steps and they all didn't make sense. read more

Anaheim Utilities - two new meters on left and right - Utilities Near Me - Anaheim, California

I've been a customer of Anaheim Utilities for 42 years. Recently, I decided to switch from manual pay to auto-pay. Being the Type "A" personally I am, I checked to see if auto-pay had engaged the day before my bill was due and, according to my online account, it had. My balance was zero (this was a Friday). On Monday, I checked again and the report was, (a) my bill had NOT been paid, and (b) I now was assessed a $2.72 Late Fee. When I called to complain, two things happened: (1) They agreed that the late fee was due to a glitch in their system and should never have been charged. (2) They would not reverse the fee unless I could prove I was the legitimate owner of the account! Apparently, 42 years ago, when I moved into my house, we used my wife's DL number and SS# (which, according to them) was one digit off. Unless I came down to their offices in person and proved my identity, they would not reverse a charge that I clearly did not owe in the first place!!! I thought I could reason with a supervisor, but she was even more adamant than the original person helping me. Yes, I'd like to fix the erroneous info on my file, but I resent being penalized by inflexible policies and uncaring people who will go so far as to impose a charge that is not mine just because they can. read more

This here is strongly recommended not to deal with. When my lease closed for my place due to Military obligations .... These ppl tried to charge me almost 600$ for my final bill. They gave me the complete run around as well as lying about owning the meter for my apartment complex. This was the most absolutely unprofessional service I honestly could say I've experienced. I wouldn't look for an apartment within the Anaheim Area that uses Anaheim public utilities. You're better off at Orange or Fullerton because this utility service are crooked more than you know. If I could give this place negative stars i would. The manager Angie as well as Cynthia Gahby, & Alexandria Buenrostro are not reliable at all and if I could, I promise I would go to corporate in regards to how they run things. Stay away from Anaheim Public Utilities! Its not worth the headache read more

RUDE poor customer service and expensive. They cut off my moms electricity not due to a lack of payment. They took the payment out completely it's always paid on time. Her ex husband of 10 years decided he didn't want to be on the bill even though he didn't pay the bill for over 20 years but okay go off city of Anaheim reps. It's a civil matter even they are both on the bill. They gave no notice with the home having 2 children under the age of 2. My mom spoke to reps on Friday who told her she would receive a call in 72 hours. Nope they just cut her electricity read more

You can't pay your bill over an automated phone system outside of businesses hours. Makes no sense. They need get up to speed for their customers. They also send a letter out of you pay late reminding you that they are a non-profit and how much late payments affect that. Please. Just because they might be a registered nonprofit doesn't mean someone is making obscene amounts of money. The rates for electric in Anaheim are far higher than any other city I've lived in. The letter seems like a crooked attempt to guilt people, if people are late- charge a late fee. Don't bother sending out some silly "appeal to pitty" letter. It's awkward. read more

2/18/22 To whom it may concern, My Right to Privacy was Violated Today. Between the time of 11:45am through 12:15pm I was minding my own business in my backyard when I saw something off the corner of my eye and saw a person looking over my wooden fence taking pictures of me directly. She caught me off gaurd and startled me. I asked the person to identify themselves. The person said to clean off my meter. I asked again for the person to identify themselves. That person refused to answer. That person then decided to aim the camera directly to my face to proceed to take pictures. Then that person got off the fence and ran away. A few moments later I noticed she was in the front of my house. I came outside to ask for identification but she refused. I kept asking for her name but was ignored. I told this person that a regular human being knocks on my door if the want entry to my backyard. She never rang the doorbell or knocked on my door to gain access. Then she proceeded to walk away to the neighbors house and knocked on their front door. Why didn't she knock on mine? Why did she refuse to identify herself? Why is she taking pictures of me in my own backyard? I don't know who she is and I still don't know. I demand to know who the person was and why they did not respond to my questioning on my property. Is this how you treat your customers? You do not have my consent to take pictures of me in my property. I was treated like a second class citizen. My rights were violated today. If this is not dealt with in a timely manner I will escalate things further. Waiting for your response. read more

I've been making payments on my bill and every time I call I unfortunately get the customer service rep America. She's extremely rude and does not know how to handle customers. Its funny how I live right next to disneyland (harbor and orangethorpe) and somehow pay 1008.96% their annual utility cost ($84.08 monthly vs $1 annually), but somehow still wait over 6 hours for my electricity to be fixed, while it takes their electricity problems less than an hour to be resolved... c'mon anaheim...priorities Take care of your city, Anaheim. If I could give no stars I would. I'm used to dealing with SCE and just moved to Anaheim. I've never been charged so many "other charges" on my bill before especially living in an apartment where I pay extra already for water/sewage and trash. I called to get and explanation of my bill and the lady who helped me literally told me "if you dont like it move out of Anaheim" which is exactly what I plan on doing as soon as my lease is up. I also plan to let every single person I talk to about living in Anaheim know how horrible of a city and company Anaheim public utilities is. read more

I am so upset with this utility company. I used SCE for many years and have never had any issues. Move to Anaheim and they hit me with an $1100 dollar deposit! I have never paid more that $250 for a deposit. Then calling them is the worse. The customer service is absolutely terrible. They could care less because you have no options but them so they can charge and treat you like however they want to treat you. It is sad! Shame on Anaheim for being so greedy and uncaring! This is the Anaheim tourists don't see. :( read more

I've had two terrible experiences with their customer service reps. The first experience was trying to transfer services to my name after the death of my Grandmother. The woman I was speaking with showed no compassion, no concern, no emotion. Fine, that's not her job. I understand that, but a little bit of kindness goes a long way. Her directions were unclear and confusing, so I asked her to please clarify because I wasn't understanding what she was asking me to do, and she mumbled something under her breath and said: "I already told you what to do!" Who speaks to a customer like that? It's not like I asked her multiple times. I was not belligerent, or rude. I just needed her to explain some things in slightly greater detail. Her tone after this was one of inexplicable exasperation that was unbecoming of someone who was meant to be, you know, serving me. Today I had the misfortune of speaking with Savanah. After waiting several minutes to speak with a customer service rep, I calmly explained my current predicament. While I was mid-sentence, she cut me off! She cut me off to tell me that due to a flood of high volume calls, she would have to have someone call me back. Fine, I get it. Whatever, but she cut me off in an incredibly rude way. I was so taken aback that all I could say was "Uh, what?". She then rudely proceeded to tell me the high volume of calls spiel again in a rushed and annoyed tone. I gave her my information and she said someone would contact me in the next 1-2 business days. Cool, but wouldn't it have been beneficial to listen to me and my needs before cutting me off and being tactless and rude? Two strikes against these people. When I speak to the next person, I hope they have a better grasp of customer service. I am a customer. I use and pay for their services, and for them to show incredible amounts of disrespect for no reason is unacceptable. read more

I'd give them a minus 100 stars if I could. Try to close an account and they will basically make you sign away your youngest child. Worst rudest most inept customer service people anywhere, what do you expect from California. read more

This company is unprofessional. I called in to turn on the electricity and water at my new house. Came to the new house because my house is gated so I waited all morning to see if someone could come and turn them on but no. I called the company and ask them for an update but they said they can't give me a ETA of when they'll arrive. While calling the representative, a truck came by but left immediately not knowing that someone was here. The company called me back again saying that someone came but notice the gate was lock and left. If you know the gate was lock why won't you get out of the car and check to see if there was a car or someone inside and ask them to open. I have never dealt with a company that is so unprofessional like this one. read more

This is the most unorganized, unprofessional utility company i've ever dealt with. How is it that this is the "only" company in Anaheim? They behave like the MOB! No notices about payments, no reminders, nothing. And God forbid you ask for a supervisor, they leave you on hold so tha we can be discourge and hang up. This is beyond ridiculous an disgusting. Can't we take them to court, go to City Hall? There's has to be a different way to do this. Ugggh! read more

I feel the Anaheim utility is a rip-off they overcharged even when you have a bill that's over 10 years old it seems like every month which by the way we are never home we both work my husband and I but yet our bill always comes out to $100 200 because we're having to pay other fees I wish there were some way we can go to complain I feel that Anaheim is ripping people off for utilities we missed one month and got a letter saying that they were going to shut our electricity off and be charged $10 plus another $20 for reconnection fee only one month Anaheim money hungry read more

man... where to begin? We moved to Anaheim 3 years ago...and one of the last things I do when I move is call the utilities company and set everything up. Well, they charged me a $400 deposit because of a $37 past due bill that my old roommate didn't pay over 10yrs previous. They refused to even split the deposit. I mentioned we had kids and we needed electricity since it's a basic human need at this point in modern day society... they didn't care. At all... no... not ... at .... all..... Fast forward to today... we've been in Anaheim for 3 years now... moving to another location in Anaheim. So.... my wife calls them to set up electricity for our new place. Low and behold.... they want to charge us a $130 deposit.....??? WTF? why? We've paid our bills, we've been paying for 3 years... guess what... they don't give a damn... who am I going to complain to? Who can I go to? The city? LOL... the elected reps don't care unless you're Disney or have some lucrative pay off for them.... it's crazy...This will be the last lease we sign in Anaheim for life..... So I say this with all sincerity... If you enjoy the condescending tone of a person who has decided that since they failed at life and human decency, you too... "shall not pass!" because they hold the fate of all who dwell in the land of Disney and will decide who can light their homes and eat hot pockets and who can not.... then please... move to Anaheim!! You'll be welcomed with scorn and weeping and gnashing of teeth... read more

I wanted to give a giant thank you to Mike Guadan! I am new to utilizing Anaheim Public Utilities and had been having difficulty getting a resolution to a problem I was having with our bill. I have had multiple conversations with representatives and was finally heard, they sent out someone to check on our meters. Mike communicated well with us giving us an estimate of time of arrival and called us when he was here because my fiance wanted to be there when our meter was being checked. Mike explained in detail what he was checking and ultimately informed us our meter was working well. However, Mike went above and beyond and complied with his due diligence and more helping us find the problem. He made us feel heard and was extremely helpful! Never would I have thought to have received such time, patience, and quality of service given the previous interactions I had had over the phone with Anaheim Public Utilities. He made all of our headaches go away. Mike, thank you for your work and time! We are extremely grateful customers! read more

I really wish we had a different power company here. First, they charged me a $250 deposit because we moved (within Anaheim!). Because of that, I've been struggling to get caught up on the bill. Today, I asked for a two day extension. And because of *that*, they are telling me I may have to pay an additional $215 "deposit." If you're living paycheck to paycheck, be forewarned. The employees here are extremely incompetent. Customer service clearly isn't the least bit a concern. I wanted same day start up that was a guaranteed service but it never happened. I guess I shouldn't have high expectation for a government-subsidized organization but I was left very disappointed.
