He was friendly but by this time there were a few people waiting. I already made a reservation so he was able to pull up my information. I then used a QR code to upload a pic of my driver's license. He gave me the keys and then walked me to the back. He had to drive it out of the back lot because it was tightly fit into a spot in the back. Never have I rented a truck where I had so many complicated and frustrating circumstances occur. I…read moregot there to pickup the truck 10 minutes early. They end up dropping the truck off for me and hour and a half late! On top of that there is no lift as I had requested. Therefore it's the wrong truck. I go tell the gentleman helping at the front desk (who happens to be very nice and doing his best to help us) He says he's going to call and try to figure out what is going on. He is informed another truck is getting dropped off (now two hours late and a big waste of time on moving day) I signed for the amount due on my bill and left with the truck. The next day the truck was returned on time and gas full and everything in place. I look at my credit card statement a week later and see that I am charged almost $700 when I only had it for one night and only drove it a few miles. I called Penske and told them about the charges and the guy on the phone says they somehow overcharged me by mistake for $400 more than I owed. How does that even happen?!! Long story short, I got refunded and appreciated the professionalism in his demeanor over the phone. Sadly, I won't be renting from Penske anymore as this was a horrible and traumatic experience doing business with them.

I arrived and was given a 16' truck - "only one we had." On the drive from the office to the house, I noticed the AC stopped working once I got on the freeway, and then noticed ants everywhere in the cab of the truck. I thought I could ignore the cigarette smell and dirt in the cab, but the AC problem and the ants were too much. I called their Customer Service and was told to call Roadside Assistance for the AC. When asked about the ants, I was told "we cant do anything about that." The operator refused to let me speak to a supervisor so I called the office on Hotel Terrace Drive and spoke to the (nice) young man who originally helped me. He immediately told me he would contact the Manager and would call me back. When I received the call back, he told me the Manager (in Colorado) authorized a $100 refund if I still wanted the truck. They did not offer another truck, nor did they offer to fix or clean the truck I had, just $100 off. I told the desk person that was unacceptable and I wanted to speak to the Manager. He told me the Manager would never speak to me, and that the Manager told him, "If he doesn't want the truck I got plenty of other people who do." The key point I learned is that Amazon recently signed a contract with Budget/Avis and Amazon now rents 90% of Budget/Avis truck inventory nationwide. Bottom line, Budget does not care about us regular people. Their customer service is horrible and their trucks are filthy. DO NOT rent from them!

I didn't get a call or anything to ask me why I hadn't picked up my truck. I went back Saturday morning (luckily I had planned ahead) and he was late. The owner was rude from the jump. Because I was a day late due to google having the times listed incorrectly, my reservation was automatically canceled. I ended up not with the same size vehicle as requested - again, I got lucky that everything fit. Granted, moving is very stressful so I was a bit on edge, but this man was combative and rude from the start. Upon further review, this location as a 1 star on Yelp too. These are franchised businesses...I would drive a few more blocks up the road and go somewhere else because this guy is the worst.
