Anaba sushi is easily one of the best sushi joints in Glendora/ Covina area. Richie, the chef, and his wife both work inside and are very friendly to everyone. Boyfriend took me here for my birthday and we loved it. Yes, be prepared to wait. They are a small restaurant with one chef and one waitress. Since we were prepared for that, we had a really great time. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, and things came out a little at a time so we really got to enjoy our food without being overwhelmed. We weren't complaining, and they still brought us some complimentary garlic edamame for waiting, which we appreciated. Everything was delicious and fresh! Definitely worth the wait in my opinion. I love this place! The sashimi is fantastic, but it always bums me out when there is no uni. I'd say this place is a bit pricey, but their food is worth it! My palate never leaves unsatisfied unless there is no uni. It's my favorite little spot for some Japanese food. I would give them 5 stars however there are a few things I wish they would change. It'd be nice if they hired at least one extra sushi chef and waitress. I've gone a few times and waited 20+ mins. for food because they were so busy with no extra help. The waitress is very nice, but there is only one of her to work as hostess, waitress, phone order taker, and whatever else she does. Phone orders are a hit or miss! Lol depends on the time you call and how busy the waitress is. The phone might never get answered, you might just have to let it ring for a bit or call back at a different time. I immediately found the atmosphere cozy, yet inviting. I'll not speak for my counterparts, but I had the albacore sashimi and Hot Mama roll. The albacore was tender and topped with what seemed like a light ponzu sauce. It was fantastic! The Hot Mama lived up to its name as well. I can easily recommend both. I've seen the reviews that talk about the slow service; I did not experience this myself, but can imagine that being a busier night it could slow down. With that said, try it for yourself. read more

This review is regarding service only since they made me angry enough to leave before serving any food. We came in for the first time and there was no place free to sit. We were told 15 to 20 minutes wait. No problem. We sat on their little waiting bench by the door to wait. Right on our heels another couple walks in. Apparently they weren't quite as willing to wait. As they started to leave the waitress quickly gets them a table leaving us with open mouths outside watching. Some other customer says they're leaving, but by then we already know our relative value so we tried a new Mexican place. read more

I tried this place after being tired of the other local places around my work. After trying multiple sub-par restaurants, I was wanting to give this place a try. I took 2 coworkers who are not always up to trying new places. When we got there, they automatically said we were in a 'shady' place. And it's understandable considering this restaurant is located in a very small strip mall with a gun store and a liqour/hookah store. We even saw a bullet hole in the window of the restaurant. However, with all that being said, we will definitely be coming back! We were satisfied with everything! Even the plates that my coworkers are usually afraid of trying, they absolutely enjoyed! The Anaba Plates all looked delicious, but we got the one with the seared albacore, spicy sauce and fried onions. We got the hot mama roll, the legend roll, the awesome roll, and a couple others that were all very good. The service was fairly slow, however it was right when they opened at 1130am when we visited. It seemed like there were maybe two people working, but they were both nice. It's safe to say that we will be coming back! read more
