Found a hidden gem in Glendora! I was blown away by their huge selection of rolls. The standout was the incredible not your typical blue crab handroll--so flavorful and delightful with cooked meat to bring out more flavors wrapped soy paper. So sad to give 3 star but we went tonight after not coming for about 2 years because we have kids and they stopped allowing happy hour for take out for some time. We got what was our usual and it was not the same. The service was out of order (received food before drinks) but what was worse was that our Sakura roll did not seem fresh and didn't taste like it used to. The red onions seemed expired so I avoided eating them but my husband ate some and had food poisoning tonight. Very sad to say but we will not be coming back. Came here during the week between the hours of 6 to 7 pm. My son was craving Ramen. Sadly was one of the worst Ramen's we have tried. I had the bento box and the chicken was not good and the spicy tuna roll was just overly spicy and meh. I was not impressed by any of the food. Even the side salad that comes with the bento box was not good, typically I like the tempura and side salad just not here. There was only one other table of customers before us (a family of about 8). The adults were talking pretty loud and I can hear their conversations about other people's relationships from across the room. No other customers came in during the time we were there. Maybe they were having an off day. Maybe they have different cooks during certain times of the week that are better but I don't think I will come back here unless someone brought me and treated me to eat here to give them another chance. We didn't finish the food just paid and tipped and left. I ended up having to go to In and Out to get us burgers for dinner. The only thing I really liked here was the nice friendly and speedy service we received. read more

I am such a foodie and I like to try different places just to see how they taste. Today while looking through Yelp I found this small cute sushi place and OMG it's good! I Recommend trying the Mexican roll and the spicy garlic edamame. I have to say for being my first time here the service was absolutely amazing. Thank you Vivian for always being so attentive to me I appreciate you and the excellent service you provided me! Unfortunately, while I was there, I experienced a rude customer and didn't like the way she approached the situation. She could've been much more respectful to Vivian and a bit more understanding. I do have to say Vivian handled it well and killed her with kindness. Honestly, she is what customer service has always represented and we need more of her in the restaurant industry! Was in. The mood to try a new sushi place and this was close to work. We were warmly greeted by the waitress and seated right away. The restaurant had plenty of seating and looked clean and homey. We loved that they had lots of lunch special options. We ordered the salmon teriyaki, tempura and California roll lunch special. It came with miso soup and salad. The miso soup was delicious! Not salty at all. Then when our meal came my co workers and I were all impressed by the portions of our lunch ! Definitely worth the price we paid !!the salmon was perfectly cooked and the teriyaki sauce was not too sweet or too salty. This is my kind of eatery! I love the little hole in the wall type restaurants that have the I conspicuous storefronts that lead to top notch cuisine! Sanyo Sushi is a cool little sushi restaurant hidden in a strip mall just outside the heart of Glendora! The service here is as expected from a small restaurant where there are always patrons but never packed, so walk-up is easy without reservation. I have been here when they were busy, also, and still didn't need to wait long. The sushi is completely fresh and delicious the menu is just the right size to enjoy all styles of sushi you might like but not overdone like some places that try to find the next best roll! I stopped by for dinner the other day. The restaurant is very nice inside. There is a lot of beautiful art on the walls. The service was very efficient. In under 5 minutes, I was seated, had water, and an order placed. For the appetizer, I ordered the spicy edamame. I also ordered a sushi set with 8 pieces of sushi from the dinner special menu. I also ordered the Moana Roll from the regular menu. The spicy edamame came out first, along with the miso soup that comes with the sushi set. The edamame was very flavorful. It had garlic and Japanese chilies. The bottom is a bit oily. I suggest tapping off the edamame on the secondary plate provided. The miso soup was good; It was standard in flavor. The sushi set came out next. The fish tasted fresh. I also appreciated the variety of fish served. I enjoyed dipping the pieces in wasabi. The California Roll was good. The avocado made it taste creamy. The Moana Roll was good. I'm not big on sauces on sushi rolls, but the sauce on the roll was good. It tasted like a dressing. The spicy tuna was creamy. Cute and clean restaurant and I was surprised at the quality of the fish. No wait time on a weekday lunch. Was promptly greeted and seated They have a good selection of rolls, both fresh and tempera. I do recommend the hamachi sake roll. It's simple but tasted great. The sun kissed roll has a lot of sauce on it, which I found a bit strong. Lots of pickled onions on top which were nice to snack on. Each piece of fish is the sashimi combo is very fresh. Would definitely get again. So Fresh and So Clean! We went next door for pizza and ended up having Sushi instead since there was no seating available next door! This place is clean and spacious, lots of TV's they had the football game on and we had a great experience. Sushi was fresh, like it should be the lettuce wrap was definitely the best for me, fresh and crispy and tasty! Since my last review, I've had the pleasure of eating here a few more times. I'm happy to let anyone reading this know that Sanyo has actually improved and stayed incredibly consistent with each visit. I mentioned last time that they added too much sauce to the rolls; since then, they've all had the perfect amount. The fish is always suuuuper fresh and tasty. Very high quality. My go-to roll to get here is still the Jessica Alba. It consists of the most supple and fresh albacore on the inside with delicious spicy krabmeat on top, all drizzled with a creamy kewpie-based sauce & some sriracha. Coupled with a bit of soy sauce and a slice of ginger, this is possibly on my list of "favorite bites of food ever." I love their happy hour, it's a really great value and the portions here will definitely fill you up. The hot sake is great, and the appetizers are delicious. Favorites include the mixed tempura, krabmeat stuffed mushrooms, and spicy tuna crispy rice. My dad has also fallen in love with this place, and it's become one of our regular lunch/dinner spots! I've never had anything like it. It's got this herby, umami taste and is full of a seafood mix plus vegetables. It's worth the price and we use the leftover sauce to make a soup. My second time trying Sanyo Sushi. The first time I was accompanied by my two young granddaughters so the meal had some challenges. I decided to give it a second try by myself to better appreciate the experience. I visited Sanyo Sushi around 2pm in the afternoon, after the lunch rush. When I entered, the hostess seated me in the dining area where only one other table was occupied. It's worth noting the 2 diners at that table were seated near the front window, out of view of the large TV at the other end of the restaurant. The hostess seated me close to the TV. As soon as I was seated, I asked the hostess if she could change the channel because the program Sanyo Sushi was broadcasting into the dining area was a political rally for Donald Trump. I told her that I couldn't enjoy my meal with that programming in my face. The hostess told me that she could not change the channel. She said it was the only channel they got at the restaurant. Seriously?! That seemed like a bold face lie. So, my options were to eat and pay for a meal at Sanyo Sushi, or walk out. I decided to take my business elsewhere, and left immediately. I have not stepped foot into this restaurant when it changed owners and names, quite a few years ago. A pleasant surprise to see that it's thriving with offerings such as poke bowl and ramen. However, what seems to be the draw are the sushi rolls. They are ample enough to share, and the fish quality is fine. The Rose roll is pink and pretty with curves of tuna on top. The Crunch Roll has a good proportion of tempura shrimp in each slice. Combo plates are reasonably priced and they switched out my California roll for a spicy tuna roll without a problem. However the miso soup is overly salty, but that's a minor detail. read more

BAD SUSHI! I went to Yesterday and ordered the tuna, pepper salmon, albacore, and Cajun tuna. I got food poisoning and I only ate one of each. The fish was dry and tasted slightly fishy.
