My Hair Stylist Since 2019 -- And Worth the Wait! I've been going to Mona since 2019, and I honestly wouldn't trust my hair to anyone else. I don't live in Austin full-time anymore, but every chance I get to be back in town, I call Mona and let her know how long I'll be staying and when I might be able to get my hair done. That's how much I value her! Mona has such a warm and friendly personality and a calm, reassuring demeanor. She makes you feel comfortable the moment you sit in her chair. She's also incredibly honest and professional. If she's booked, she'll tell you honestly, but she'll also call the minute there's a last-minute cancellation. I can book online, but she always tries her best to squeeze me in when she can. And with Mona, I'm willing to wait. With everything happening right now in Mona's beautiful home country of Nepal, my heart is especially heavy for everyone who has been impacted. My prayers are with Nepal. read more

AMZ Salon - Hair by Mona. Thank you. - Hair Salons Near Me - Austin, Texas

Not sure if there's anywhere else in Austin where you can get a great shampoo, cut, and style for $50! Had a great experience overall and would recommend and likely come back year over year. I'm lazy with my hair and really only chop it off in the summers, so the thought of paying $100+ for a basic haircut makes me cringe. This place is convenient and Mona (owner) does a great job, AND she gets you in and out in ~30 mins. Pricing is transparent and posted on the website where you can easily book your appt. and add your card info. A basic dry cut starts at $35 and goes up based on your add-ons (e.g., shampooing, drying and styling, etc.). I had my hair washed (I prefer wet hair for cutting) and blow dried after the cut. I was able to book a next-day appt. online. I showed up early and Mona was running a little behind, but once I was in her chair she went to work and achieved the look I was going for quickly without cutting quality. I chopped 6 inches off and did long layers and a light face frame. Conveniently located in a shopping strip in north Austin, it's not the fanciest salon, but great service and products if you just want a good quality cut and style! read more

Came here for a haircut and I had Ana amazing experience!! The owner is so sweet and was able to squeeze me in at the end of her day. She gave me long layers and then gave me a Dyson blowout for so cheap!! Definitely coming back!! read more

Prejudice. When I went into the business I was directed out. I asked for service, I wS denied and shown the door to exit.

Mona is the absolute best! Her prices are the best in town. I usually get highlights and a cut. She is super reasonable and kind. The vibe in the salon is nice too. read more

Got my hair cut and styled by Mona the owner, she was fabulous! I hadn't had my hair cut professionally in 2 years because I haven't trusted anyone to do it. She made me feel comfortable and asked what I wanted and trimmed my hair with some long layers. I will definitely be back. It's a very fair price. The day I went it was only the two of us in the salon. Thank you Mona!! read more

My favorite place to get my eyebrows threaded. They come out perfect every single time. It's a little painful, but tolerable. She doesn't charge much, I think it's under $10.00. I was paying $15.00 some place else. She's very quick and friendly and always makes sure you're happy with the results. You can tell she's detailed in her work. Love this place to get my eyebrows done. It's the only place I go. read more

Mona did a fabulous job getting the dark dye out of my hair! She worked so hard. I have had my dark dye removed two other times at prestigious salons and her salon was the best ever! I am older and go through different colors and, from here on out, I will not go anywhere else. read more

Mona was fantastic! I came in for conditioning and trimming. I don't spend a lot of time at salons, but my hair came out soft that I'm going to make this a much more frequent visit. read more

Amz Salon is situated in an unassuming strip mall between a Subway and a beauty supply store, but don't let this deter you. Mona is the best out there, and you get salon quality without salon prices. When she does my hair I feel like she pulls out every tool in her arsenal to make sure it's absolutely perfect. The first time I went in I had hair several inches past my shoulders and requested a style that required a majority of my hair to be taken down to a number 2 guard, and the rest to be cut to only a few inches long. Before I made such a huge hair decision Mona asked me several times over hair washing and deep conditioning if I was positive on chopping it all off. I was and I LOVE the result. I return monthly to maintain it, and she always takes the same care as she did with the initial cut. I have even returned once several days later to have a bit more taken off as I wasn't quite happy with the length, and there was no issue with her fixing that. I would recommend Mona to absolutely anyone; I'm lucky enough to live less than five minutes away, but if I lived in south Austin I'd make the trek up here monthly. read more

I chose Amz Salon because it's close to home and because of the yelp reviews, and I'm glad I did. Had my 1st experience with Lena yesterday and my hair looks, feels and smells great! I will be going to see her again. The good stuff: Entire staff is happy, friendly and attentive. Lena was very empathetic to my recent woes with losing my long long hair to stress. I felt like she felt sad for me too. Lena does a pressure point massage with your wash and pays great attention to detail. The not so great: The coupon on the website I found was meant to only be used for Noi's customers, although it didn't say that. Lena offered to take it anyway however I feel their advertising on their website should be more clear. I didn't want Lena loosing $5 for somebody else's mistake. read more

AMZ Salon - My new DO - Hair Salons Near Me - Austin, Texas

I made an appointment with Mona for eyebrow threading. I'm new to the area and reluctant to find a new place but my eyebrows were needing some shaping and I had put it off for way too long. After looking at places around town reading reviews and Location I decided to go with AMZ. I called just in case and made an appointment with Mona for 6:15pm. I got there early because I'm still learning to gauge traffic in Austin, and Mona worked me in early. She was very friendly, I instantly felt comfortable with her. She took care on keeping to the natural shape of my eyebrows and I'm very happy I decided on this location. Very conveniently placed right off 183. Parking wasn't an issue, and the salon was clean and inviting. I'm definitely coming back to see Mona. read more

I have been seeing Noi for a few times now, and every time was over exceeded my expectation. Noi is a great hair stylist, fast and professional! The charge is also very fair here. A lot of hair salons will cost you fortune which is unnecessary. I am looking for place gives me a great hairstyle I want and save my budget. BTW, Noi is also very sweet to talk to. She will make your request dreams come true and better. I will definitely come back again and again!!! read more

Was referred here by a friend, and am very pleased with the service. I enjoy coming here after work to get my hair washed, scalp massaged, and finally a haircut. Lena is my goto stylist there, and would recommend her to both males and females looking for a haircut. After cutting my hair once, she understands my hair needs and how I like to style it. This place looks like it mostly caters to females, but I've seen a few males here too. And lastly, you can find deals/coupons to this place as well. read more

Need a haircut so I randomly stopped in. Jam was able to sneak me in before her next client. I showed a picture and she got it as close as possible to it. Since my hair was a little thinner I knew it wouldn't be exact. I have gotten several compliments on the cut. Thanks Jam read more

I have jumped hair salons for a while before making Amp my regular spot. The haircuts are not overpriced at all ($20+tip), and I still get as good a cut as I would if I had gone to the pricier salons and spent $50+. My regular there is Noi, and she is masterful with the scissors. I only wish I could move her to Boston for my haircuts, but alas... Things worth noting: Great scalp massage. Eyebrow clippnig. Excellent recommendations on Thai food around town. Yes, eyebrow clipping... if you have bushy eyebrows, then this is the place for you. read more

Haircut was nice and simple and exactly what I wanted. Great customer service definitely see myself coming back!! :)

Me and my family have been going to this place for a while. Most recently I got my hair cut by Mona who did an amazing job! My mom and dad really like her also. I got the deep conditioning treatment and Mona cut my layers evenly and just how I asked. I am very pleased with the result! read more

Mona is awesome. She did such a great job with my eyebrows and hair cuts. It's an awesome deal with such a great price.

This is the first time since I got pregnant that I felt good about how I looked and it was all thanks to Arom at @mz. I read the reviews and have had a few bad experiences with hair cuts and color treatments all around Austin. Most of these places had pretty good reviews and were fairly upscale, but none of these places took the time to make suggestions on what would look good on me. Arom helped find the color that worked best for my skin tone and also cut my hair that flattered my face. I highly recommend Arom and the nice ladies at @mz because they're generous with their time and very thoughtful. read more

Wonderful experience here. Great staff and service, very hospitable and friendly. Will definitely revisit!

Noi gave me an excellent cut. I chopped off six inches and it looks awesome! She is so sweet and friendly! I will be going back to Noi!

Very impressed with salon and service! I had seen a deal on some daily deal website and had contacted Lena to make an appointment. She was able to get me in quickly and on the day and time frame that worked with my schedule! Unfortunately I was coming from South of the "Y" in Oak Hill, and on a Saturday did not expect much traffic, but I was wrong and ended up being 15 minutes late. I felt really bad, especially since I had dropped my phone in the washer the day before and had no way of calling to let her know I was running behind. When I got there she was more than understanding and we quickly jumped into the appointment. I was only getting root touch-up for my almost platinum blonde hair. After chatting a bit while bleach was applied, I sat under the dryer for 5 or so minutes and was offered refreshments while I waited. I declined while flipping through magazines. While rinsing, Lena was not pleased with the resulted color (too yellow). I assured her it was normal for my hair, and that I usually had to go home and use purple shampoo for about a week to correct, but she insisted she would not have my leave the salon like that and applied complimentary toner! After a second rinse, other stylists in the salon gathered around to compliment the color! (Not many people go this blonde!) After drying and styling (taking her time to perfect, something I'm not used to. but surely appreciate!) I got even more compliments from the customers on either side of me! It really did look good! I am very pleased and will be returning! Other salons would have charged close to or over $100 for the same affect, but I left paying half that, allowing me to leave a $20 tip. (Something I do not normally do, but I really appreciated the services and Lena's understanding of my tardiness!) It appears she also does Brazilian blowouts (a service she really wanted me to get, but $60 I was unprepared to pay that day!) and maybe eyelashes too! I will definitely be looking into some of the other services offered next time I am there :) read more

I am always cautious when trying a new salon because I am very rarely satisfied with the results. Mona is amazing! I had the worst headache and the shampoo massage was on point. Not only does my hair look fantastic but I walked out feeling better as well. I also recommend her eyebrow threading, great job. I've already gotten so many compliments read more

Yay!! I got the cutest haircut by the lovely, Mona. The salon has a lot of space so you don't get claustrophobic. Also, it is set up so you aren't being stared at by other clients. Mona was great. Prior to this, I had a horrible experience at another salon in this neighborhood. She fixed my hair! It wasn't easy because I had a thick damaged mess but I now have an adorable bob. It took maybe 30 minutes and I had my eyebrows threaded as well. She then filled them in with gel ( I am terrible with makeup) and I felt great. Thank you so much for the amazing work and the gorgeous smiles, Mona. I will be back and will tell everyone I know. read more

I also have been going to amp since she was at Toni and Guy and have followed her to her own Salon. She has cut my hair and my daughters hair for over 9 years. She also does a wonderful job with my highlights!! We have moved to Houston and I drive to Austin just to get her to cut my hair - had it done twice here in the Houston area and ran back as fast as I could for her to fix my mess, my daughter is at school in San Antonio and drives to Austin for Amp! Well worth every minute of driving no one else can make me look and feel like a movie star except HOT Amp! read more

I did not actually have my hair done here because I was turned away. Although the the front door clearly says "walk-ins welcome", I was told she didn't have room for me today, but I could make an appointment for later in the week. No, I can't because I have s crazy schedule, and I won't because your service didn't live up to how it was advertised. read more

Best facial ever. Real attention to detail. Lena is very sweet.

I've been going to Amp for more than ten years, followed her when she left Toni & Guy to open her own salon. I love her friendly and easy going style and she really listens to what you want and makes it happen. She works with you recommending what is best for your hair and trying different things. I don't live in North Austin anymore but I would drive great distances just to have her do my hair. Love. read more

Im from out of state and I was worried about getting a haircut from someone other than my usual barber, especially since I am terrible at describing what I want.
