Saturday, May 21 2016 I was running about 10-15 minutes late to my 2:30 appointment (Austin traffic SUCKS) and I called and let them know. Melanie answered and was a complete sweetheart and said it'd be okay (she saved me from stressing over a loss of a prom hair appointment and trust me, I was freaking out!). I got there around 2:50 and I was done by 3:15 (I have very thick hair and wanted a updo). She worked fast and efficient while still conversing with me on a personal level. She finished at such a perfect time because I needed to be in my dress and out of there by 3:30. They were so kind to even let me change there!!! Finally! A salon I really like in Texas! I've been here going on three years and haven't settled on any place i want to keep coming back to until now. First of all Envy is a gorgeous space. Jay, the owner, has done so much with it! Its spacious and open and feels comfortable as soon as you go in. I don't know how he did it, but Envy has an atmosphere that is both trendy AND friendly, a rare combination! I had to reschedule my appointment twice because of an unfortunate bout with bronchitis (I won, but it was close). Jay was so gracious about rescheduling me. He never made me feel badly for for changing my plans. When I was finally recovered enough to go in everyone was super friendly, offering me wine or a selection of other beverages, and my stylist Irene came out right away. I liked Irene right off the bat. She listened attentively as I explained what I wanted, then she repeated it back to me with a few small suggestions, so I knew she got it perfectly. Then she jumped right in and gave me a fantastic cut and color. I loved how it turned out! Irene was also super cool about the couple last minuet requests i gave her. I haven't been this happy with my hair in a long time!!! The only bad part is now I want Irene to come over and style my hair every morning, I could never get it to look half as good as she did! read more

I really wanted to like Envy--it's locally-owned, in a really great location, employees all seemed nice. But the manicure/pedicure I got there this weekend was just awful, all the way around, bad. My toe nails are too short, the French tip is uneven, my fingernails are uneven and cuticles are a mess. Beyond that, the chairs were so uncomfortable, I ended up squirming for the entire THREE AND A HALF HOURS it took for the mani/pedi. If some of that time was taken up by pamper treatment--soaking, massage, hot stones, oil, anything!--that would be one thing. But there were no frills on this one. Unfortunately, a lot of that time was spent on chit chat and correcting mistakes. The girl who did it was really cute and nice, but the job she did was not good. As for the salon, again it's a really cool place, but billing itself as "high-end" is not terribly accurate--not when you're offering me wine at 10 o'clock in the morning, "chocolates" in the form of mini Snickers and hair products you can find at Wal-Mart. There's nothing wrong with that, but why try to be something you're not. Anyway, kind of a bummer all the way around. read more

They are a bit far from where I work and live but ever since I have made the switch to MY Envy, it's difficult for me to go back to my old hair person! Here are my favorite parts: 1) Friendly and upbeat staff 2) They offer a free alcoholic (or non-alcoholic) drink 3) Reasonable price The only negative thing I would say about the salon is they are closed on Sunday which makes it a slight inconvenience for my schedule. I moved to Austin back in Oct. and was having trouble finding a good hairstylist that could cut men's hair. After looking near my work for places I could go to, I decided to try Envy Salon. The price for my men's cut was more than I was used to paying, but I don't get my hair cut that often and I was willing to pay more for a really good cut and experience. I read from the Envy Salon website that their stylist, Kayo, specialized in men's cuts, so I decided to have her cut and style my hair. I went in months since my last cut (probably due to apathy from having both thinning hair and a receding hairline) and basically told her do whatever she wanted, "just make it look good." She took her time using scissors for nearly the whole cut instead of cutting corners with the clippers, which was nice. Afterwords she shampooed and conditioned my hair, gave me a mini-scalp massage and then blow dried and styled me for the finish. It came out really great! There was lots of texture and it looked better (and fuller) than when my hair was longer. Also, Kayo is really nice to chat with during the hour long session and it's her I think that makes the experience that much more enjoyable. The shampoo/conditioning/scalp massage also doubled as a really great stress reliever, and made getting through the rest of the work day that much easier. I've been going back ever since and have never been disappointed thus far. The salon itself is thoughtfully and eclectically decorated with good bones and character. And if you have to wait long/show up early for an appointment, you're offered the occasional coffee/vino, though since I always set appointments I've never really had to wait. I have been going to My Envy for 5 years now and this place is great. Before I found My Envy, I had been going to the same place for 10 years. I was never satisfied leaving because I never got what I asked for, and there was always an excuse as to why. "Your hair just didn't take to that color." "It'll lighten up in a few days." "It's supposed to look gray--the color changes with time." ‍ It was cheap, so I stayed. But once I found Dinia at My Envy, I knew I would never go back. She is wonderful and my hair always turns out great. She really seems to care about what I want and I always feel so much better when I leave. I explained to her about my past situations at the previous salon, and she explained to me how she would be doing it differently and I have NEVER walked out of there feeling anything other than beautiful. I've watched all 3 of the ladies that do hair here, and I can see that all of their customers love them. I would trust all of them to do my hair. I ran into Melanie out and about, she was clearly very passionate about cutting hair. And I was due, was getting a little shaggy. I tried to call and schedule an appointment, left a message during business hours. Never heard back but e-mailed and got an almost immediate response and confirmed appointment. Melanie was friendly and professional and gave a good haircut for a great price. Place had a good vibe, cool that it backed up to the bar next door. Trying to find someone you trust with your hair is frightening when you move to a new area. As soon as I walked into this salon, I had a feeling, I would like it. Jay, the owner, immediatley welcomed me and offered me a mimosa. The shop is gorgeous and is in a great location downtown Round Rock, easy to find and get to. Building was pleasant, staff was helpful and nice!!! I went in for a perm and they listened to what I wanted and offered me a nice beverage. I have been to many different salons in the round rock area and this one was by far the best!!! I watched them do cuts and blow outs while i was there for the 3 hours needed for my hair to finish and everyone looked like rock stars when they left. Prices were EXTREMELY reasonalbe for the atmosphere and attention you got. The owner of the business came up to me and welcomed me with a big smile. It was refreshing to see a business owner care about their customer service. The stylist that helped me was not as experienced as the others but the owner came over and made sure she was doing what was necessary to give me the best outcome. Purchased a Groupon-type deal for $36 instead of $75 for a mani/pedi. I finally got around to using it a couple of weeks ago and let me just say that it was not close to being worth the $36 I paid. I feel guilty for buying my friend one because I now realize I would have been better off paying less at any other nail salon and getting better service. Don't get me wrong, the salon is trendy for Round Rock, comfortable, well decorated, friendly staff and convenient location. Reviewing the mani/pedi only however: It was a disaster. Nails are unevenly shaped, cuticles a mess, no proper pedicure chair, lighting was poor so the tech struggled to put the polish on, nothing to help facilitate drying the nails, PLUS it TOOK over 3 hours!! More importantly, they had very few colors to chose from and I struggled to find one I liked. I came home, took off the polish, and did a better job myself. No joke! Bummer was that I was really looking forward to it and I don't get out much without the kids for some pamper time. What a waste. read more

When I needed a last minute cut, and couldn't bring myself to go to a barber shop or a walk in place, I called My Envy. They got me in over my lunch hour with Yendry who gave me a killer cut for a reasonable price, and I was in and out in no time. I used my yelp 20 % off color coupon for a color refresh the next week, again, totally awesome. I left both times with sleek, well cared for hair. They also give you wine if you want it. The space is calm, spacious and relaxing. Highly recommended. I think I have found a new hair salon, and super excited that it is a local business in my neighborhood. read more

I would NOT recommend going to this salon. I went with my friend to get her hair done by Jill, she did a fabulous job! The owner actually happened to be there and he seemed nice at first but very soon became very over baring and VERY awkward. He asked me the same question about 5 times within about an hour. All of the promotional codes you see on Groupon is a lie as well. This salon has good stylists and receptionist but the owner is a joke! Since moving back to the Austin area 9 years ago, I had a hard time finding a stylist I liked. I went to downtown Austin boutiques, Ulta, everywhere I could find good reviews from Austin to Georgetown. The problem was A.) No matter how specific or how many pictures, I never got something I liked, and would move on to the next. B.) The worst part was the snobby attitude of these stylists at the boutiques! Melanie to the rescue! I called two years ago and talked to Melanie and have been a dedicated client ever since. Not only is Melanie one of the owners (love to Yendry too!) but she is as down to earth as they come. She listens to your wants and needs, offers suggestions, all with a smile! I moved to Austin awhile ago but occasionally visit Dallas and I'll drop by this Salon place since a friend recommended it to me. It's been probably around a year since my first visit but I've always received great haircut from Melanie so just thought I'll share my experiences. My hair is thick and stiff so it's not the easiest to style or cut. I usually give her a picture for reference and she usually does it exactly the way I want it to be done. She's very attentive and listens. I think the key here is communication guys, let your stylist know exactly what you want and you shall receive. read more

I gave Yendry a year doing my hair. I have thin, fine, shoulder blade straight hair, dirty blonde by nature. It is not hard to accomplish great hi-low color to give definition. I did give it a year, I left one time satisfied with cut/color. In a year of service, it took 20-30 minutes to foil full head. Then sat under dryer timed to :30, she sat at from desk on computer, never checked my foils. Then, wash...tried to stretch hair cut to 10 minutes, blow dry another 10 minutes. So 50 minutes of her time cost anywhere from 146-175. The lighting is really bad, you can't tell your color until you are out in your car. I am sure it works for some, but, I am not a fan. I never once felt welcome except for the customers next to me, which was only one in any time over the year. Never have I seen the salon full, either, buy myself or one other customer, with a full head of long hair, and, I would always ask what they were paying....I would be charged a different price, for the same service, every time. And those next to me were paying less for major hair and service and 3-4- times my hair. I would come in after they were in their chair and leave before they were close to done and paid way too much. There are so many salons in downtown Round Rock. I always admired the other two girls (I would only see one at a time, never was there two other Clients in the salon in the year I went) work. It felt isolated and not enough customers. If you like that feel, it could be a great experience. I like a hairdresser that is up-to-date on current techniques. I was used to someone that went to hair shows in Vegas....for the price, I am so disappointed I kept going for a year. I do not like a salon that does not show you the breakdown of cost, but gives a receipt of total cost billed. Yendry always made me feel less than. You go to a salon to feel good, not be judged by your eyebrows. I have since found the most wonderful salon, and, never dread going, and leave feeling more confident in myself and leave with wonderful results. read more

I really never review a place unless I've had a fantastic experience, mostly because I'm just a nice guy (what can I say). I really enjoyed my experience at My Envy. First off, I have been making my way out to Round Rock more often because of work so I don't have time to be driving all over town to get a quality cut. I stopped in here at the recommendation of a friend, and the first thing I loved was the location. It's got this old town feel that's pretty hip and genuine. I was trying to find a new salon that looked trustworthy. My Envy's website looked well designed and they had an awesome deal going on, so I decided to try them. The salon has beautiful decor, was clean and comfortable, and they had a variety of beverages they offered. Chanel was able to squeeze me in as a walk-in, yet didn't rush through my color and cut. Been is Austin for a year now and really needed a stylist.I had long hair and it was gross and had no idea what i wanted to do with it. A friend referred me to Theresa at Envy salon. I'm very particular and sure enough, Theresa pulled it off, she did a GREAT job. We ended up cutting 12 inch off and got the opportunity to donate. YAY!! I followed my old stylist, Julie, to her new location at Envy Salon and applaud her for her excellent choice to seek employment there. It wasn't a far drive from north Austin and was easy to find right off the interstate. Parking was free and surprisingly for a "downtown" location, not a problem to find. The owner himself greeted me at the front desk and offered me a refreshment of my choice (including a glass of red or white wine). The atmosphere was very pleasant, the music wasn't overtly loud or awful like you will find in some salons. The price was actually quite reasonable compared to what I was expecting for the location and environment. read more
