I booked an appointment with the salon's highest-level stylist, who advertises herself as a blonding specialist. I showed her exactly the platinum tone I wanted. My receipt reflects a premium service labeled "Platinum AF." I paid $650 for what I believed would be master-level platinum blonding. Instead, approximately 70% of my foils were placed by an assistant who graduated cosmetology school in June 2024 and had only been working at the salon for three months. The lead stylist repeatedly stepped away to service other clients. She was not consistently present during application and did not meaningfully evaluate the foils until removal was nearly complete. The assistant also performed all foil removal. Platinum blonding is one of the most technically demanding chemical services in the industry. It requires precision placement, careful saturation, and close monitoring. That did not happen. The final result was objectively poor: * Large orange and yellow hot spots throughout * Uneven processing * The nape of my neck partially unhighlighted on one side * Patchy tonal inconsistency * Noticeable dryness and signs of chemical damage This was not a subtle "slightly off tone." This was visibly uneven, brassy, and inconsistent work -- especially unacceptable at this price point. When I expressed concern immediately in the chair, I was told it was "the lighting" and reassured it was platinum. I was not shown the back of my head before leaving. When I got home, my 14-year-old daughter walked in and said, "Your hair is yellow." I had not said a word to her. The issue was obvious. I returned the next day requesting a partial refund because I did not feel comfortable allowing additional bleach on already compromised hair. I was told refunds are against policy. Charging premium, specialist-level pricing while delegating the majority of a complex platinum service to a newly graduated assistant -- without clear and direct informed consent in the chair -- feels like a deceptive practice. Clients deserve transparency about who is performing a chemical service on their hair. If I am paying for a master blonding specialist, I expect that specialist to perform the work. At $650, there should be a clear transformation and a "wow" moment. Instead, I left with uneven, brassy, partially unprocessed hair and no accountability. I had what was honestly one of the worst salon experiences I've ever had, and after spending $580 and more than 4.5 hours at Western Blonde, I feel obligated to warn other people. I do want to say the staff was nice and I was offered a drink or snacks. I definitely should've taken the snack part into consideration if I knew I would be there that long. I originally booked to go blonder with natural lowlights blended in, but was told I had booked the wrong service and switched to a $406 color appointment. I agreed because I specifically booked with a top-level educator/manager and trusted her expertise. Despite that, most of my service was done by assistants in training. The stylist I booked with only checked in occasionally, as she was also tending to other clients and did not complete my service, also didn't even come see the final result or say goodbye before I left. Throughout the appointment, things were constantly being dropped around me, which made the environment feel chaotic during such a long service. During the wash, my jacket was completely soaked and no one acknowledged it. The appointment lasted from 9:40 AM to 2:15 PM, and even blow-drying dragged on so long that I had to ask them to stop styling and just finish so I could leave. At checkout, my total came to $524 before tip, including $79 for trimming about 4 inches and $50 for a "lifting product." These charges were never communicated or approved ahead of time, which is not acceptable at this price point. I was also told I would receive an emailed receipt, which I never got until I had to call to receive it the next day. The final result also was not what I asked for. I requested dimensional blonde with blended lowlights, but my hair came out noticeably more yellow/orange and flat with none of the dimension I discussed. I unfortunately have found the salon has a no-refund policy, leaving me stuck paying for a result I didn't ask for and a service I largely did not receive from the stylist I originally booked. I chose not to call and ask them to "fix" it because when this many things go wrong in one appointment, I don't feel comfortable giving the same salon another opportunity to make the same mistakes twice. Afterwards, I also saw another Yelp review describing a very similar experience, which makes this feel like a pattern rather than an isolated incident. Based on how the owner has responded to other critical reviews, I expect I'll likely receive a reply explaining why my experience was "incorrect," but this was my actual experience as a paying client and it deserves to be shared. Between the lack of communication, unexpected charges, chaotic environment, soaked jacket, missing receipt, minimal involvement from the stylist I booked, and a result that didn't match what I asked for, I genuinely cannot recommend this salon and will not be returning. read more

I had high hopes for this place as it was recommended by a Facebook group I belong to. I made a consultation one late night after the salon had closed and was happy to see they had openings the next day. I was charged $25 in advance to book the consultation. Only after I am charged am I informed by email that I am required to sign a waiver acknowledging that the salon doesn't guarantee results and that the actual cost may be up to 50% higher than what I'm quoted during my consultation! Never have I ever in my 20+ years of getting professional highlights have I been asked to sign such a thing. I called the salon when they opened and expressed my concern regarding this policy and that I would like to cancel. Her explanation was that the charge can vary based on the length of my hair, thickness, and texture. Isn't that the entire point of a consultation? So they can see how long my hair is with their own eyes and feel its thickness and texture? I replied that I didn't find this explanation acceptable nor did I feel comfortable coming in if this is their policy. I prefer to do business with salons with a more transparent pricing model. They kept my $25 despite me contacting them within hours of booking and immediately after opening. I'm disappointed to write this review. So, first let me say it's a cute, clean place and the staff and stylists are really friendly and helpful. However, my color and extension experience was not good. I asked for a partial highlight and talked at length of the tone I liked my hair to be. I showed photos of me with what I liked. I asked that the stylist follow the highlight pattern that was already there. I was not changing anything. Just getting my highlights at my roots done and my extensions moved up. 7 hours later, I was fighting back tears as my hair was pinkish orange all over. I left hoping that the lighting in the salon was just really bad. It wasn't bad lighting, my hair was orange. And the extension work was awful with huge knots sticking out of my head. To their credit, I called and they offered to fix the color. I didn't even mention the extensions, the color was what I couldn't live with. I said I wasn't comfortable with the same stylist and the owner/lead stylist had me come see her. She was very nice and acknowledged the orange tone would have to be fixed and also said she'd have to remove all the extensions and redo them because they "weren't going to stay". I stressed that I like to be bright blonde. I again showed numerous pictures of me with my blonde that I like. She did a soap cap to remove the orange pink tones from the blonde, that worked. And then had to redeposit color to take the orange out of my base color. But instead of leaving the bright blonde she covered my whole head with dark brown color with barely any any blonde highlights. And my extensions are still blonde. I came in there as a blonde and wanting to stay that way. After my first appointment and 7 hours, I left with orange hair. After my next appointment and another 6 hours, I left with dark brown natural hair that doesn't blend well with my blonde extensions. I asked for more blonde around my face, they said they had fixed it already and wanted to charge me to add a few highlights to lighten me up. Fixed would have been blonde like I had asked for all along. Just because it was no longer orange did not make it what I paid for and asked for. I recently moved to Georgetown and one of my least favorite things to do when moving is finding a new stylist. I hit the jackpot with Danika. My hair had been died before I moved and as my hair grew in there was a very visible line on my head that was horrible. Danika brought me back to a natural color and my hair looks great.
