For 20 years I had 2 great stylist. One moved away. One went into Real Estate. Grow is a really nice place. Horrible parking. First visit. Friendly staff but not the cut I asked for. Told her I liked the style I had I just needed a more professional touch to it. Wanted a $70 cut instead of a $40. Went in with a long shoulder lenght bob, came out with a short Florence Henderson. One side longer than the other. Got nothing I asked for. Just because a stylist is in an upscale salon does not mean they'll do a better job. Learned my lesson, again. I had my hair done here for the first time. I called and was able to get the same day appointment from Amanda. Amanda was very attentive to my needs and listened to my words and cut my hair and styled my hair exactly as I requested. Her shampoo on me was so relaxing, it's worth coming back to her just to have my hair shampooed if nothing else! However, she did an excellent job cutting my hair and I will be back for that. This salon has an option of having a glass of wine, while one is having their hair done. They also sell jewelry and some other items. They have a very attractive sitting room. The prices are a little steep, however worth it. The customer service was exceptional and the service results were exceptional also. I would like to start my review by saying my stylist Maddie is wonderful and my hair looks great. My review is based on my daughter's experience who was getting her hair done at the same time. We both booked our appointments online, and because she needs extra considerations for her hair she called the day after scheduling to discuss her appointment and ask if she booked the right stylist because she is bi-racial and has very curly hair. She was told by the receptionist she was all good and the stylist she booked was great with curly hair. When she got to the appointment she asked for a cut as well as the partial highlights she booked and was told by her stylist that she could not cut curly hair. My daughter was disappointed and a little confused but did proceed with the appointment. After having her hair highlighted the stylist partially dried her and told her she did not have any additional time to complete drying her hair. My daughter came to me in the salon and shared her disappointment at which time my stylist suggested we speak to Cindy about her experience. Of note, we normally never complain but thought we could share what happened. Cindy was completely unprofessional, defensive, and rude. She blamed my daughter for booking wrong (which we admitted we did), offered no resolution and even went as far as to say we disrupted the entire salon during our appointments. We both left crying and the funny thing is, she wasn't even asking for a discount or refund just wanted to share what happened. As a minority needing to worry about things like who does her hair all the time she felt othered and labeled as an angry black woman. Anyone of color should consider going elsewhere this is not the salon for you. read more

An honest review of my experience. Hopefully this saves you time when choosing a salon. Going to the salon is expensive. Is the salon experience worth the price at this establishment? I say no. I went to them twice to color my grays. Sure it's decorated nice and they serve wine. But they acted vindictive towards me in the following manner: My stylist got "triggered" by something I said while I was drinking and gossiping (nothing racist, xenophobic, homophobic, or "against the disabled" as they told me). It was my opinion about a person in my family (who is not disabled). She doesn't like that I don't accept obesity as healthy and therefore deemed me as "body shaming". The stylist acted like nothing was wrong so she could get her tip; then she flagged me in the computer system so that when I called two months later to reschedule, I was told I was banned for that reason. In addition, I believe one of the things they accused me of was fabricated. The whole situation was unfair, unprofessional. Don't care for this place at all. read more

Save your money and yourself from the gaslighting that you will get here! Their 'Level 4' stylist did a horrible job of color matching and is expecting me to 'accept' it and not refund her mistake. Offering a 'complimentary' fix to something that should've been done correct the first time by offering to 'tone' it is not how you go about customer service. I refused to come back and sit for this to be 'fixed' with the weird attitude/environment in the salon after calling out this behavior. Your stylist blamed three different things during our conversation instead of owning her mistake: the lighting of the salon, the formula on file from another stylist who did my color previously, and myself the customer. I am STILL waiting on a manager to call me back from 7/13, when I went to get my 'deluxe' color to match my Halo extension. I requested a darker brown to match my halo but instead got this fake and ugly red. Went to another similar-level salon the following day for advice on fixing this color and they agreed that the stylist at Grow made a mistake with matching. The stylist is the expert and is supposed to listen and advise you. EDIT: The owner refuses to refund an incorrect color match and continues to defend her Level 4 stylist's poor behavior and excuses when this is called out. She also replies in an extremely snarky and off-putting way to reviewers she disagrees with instead of trying to fix the issue. Please find another salon that won't rip you off! read more

Now I am less than 48 hours of my appointment and they wont let me change the service or reschedule. I don't need a haircut but they cannot change my service and only option left is paying 50% of haircut charge ie $33.5 AND they charged a fee to use my credit card. read more

Right off the bat, the front desk was welcoming, and the vibe was chill. I got the sense that it's ok to linger. While waiting for my service, I had a seasonal mimosa - again, treating myself! The mimosa set me back 11 bucks, (Wine has a hell of a markup; am I right?) but it was a generous pour and delicious. Onto the hair! My stylist, Lanya, was sweet, conversational, and did a lovely job on my blowout. I let her know I was concerned about my fine, thin hair falling flat with the humidity. She definitely took this into account when choosing the products to use on my hair. I'll be honest, I hadn't washed my hair in about six days before going in, so it was downright dirty. I would've liked a deeper clean, but the end result was still fabulous. My hair looked NOICE. I was feeling myself ALL DAY. Plus, I got three good hair days out of it (slept in a bonnet). I moved to Texas last year and have been going to a salon down in Austin since it came recommended to me by an acquaintance. I struggle a lot with finding a salon and stylist that works for me, because I have jet-black, very coarse, very thick, very straight, and very long hair that I have been growing out since 2016. The stylist I had in Austin was skilled, but seemed to have very little experience cutting hair with my texture, and seemed reluctant to spend any real time exploring vivid colours with me. On top of that, she was frequently late for appointments, and came across quite rude on multiple occasions. I have a wedding to attend next week and I wanted to finally get that wolf cut I've been eyeing, but with the condition of keeping as much of the length as possible. I also wanted to hide my bleached money pieces and greys. When I found Grow I was a little nervous because a lot of the hair seemed to be not my style or texture. But my partner convinced me to give them a try, since it looked like it would be a nice experience -- especially compared to the other salon -- even if my cut wasn't perfect. I picked Lanya and crossed my fingers. It was the best choice I could have made. She took the time to understand my needs, wants, concerns, and my prior recent experience. She was open and communicative, and walked me through everything she was doing since I needed to take my glasses off and couldn't visually follow along. So I came to Melissa really scared with really really damaged long hair. She was so SO super sweet and took great care to make sure I felt heard and comfortable.
