Patience is a virtue!!!! Coming from someone who is so nervous about hairdressers..... Since my first visit with Kim K. 7 years ago, I've learned so much! Firstly, That I was tending to my hair all wrong and secondly, that I did NOT know anything about my own hair! Things I was personally doing, neglecting and failing to change were why my hair was in the condition as it was. I know, it's funny! But truly i didnt know and I kept blaming it on everyone else becuase I naturally thought I 'knew it all' about my own Latin head of hair. I was always wondering why my hair was stringy, not full though I have so much hair and dry in some areas but unbalanced and oily in others etcetc. After my first trim with Kim, she asked me to keep an open mind as she explained what was happening with my hair; I couldn't help but acknowledge the TRUTH! she asked, I accepted and she demonstrated care techniques I had not known about yet...(she is smart and so detailed) to prevent breakage and LONGTERM damage, we kept on the 'haircare' route, becuase let's face it: I had to some 'hair-Home-work'. This was the best route, due to my paranoia and curiosity to at last, get great hair. Several months in, my bounce began to flower so beautifully! and when she gave my hair strands the go, we did our first balayage color and keratin coat. I STILL CRY TO THIS DAY ON HOW AMAZING MY HAIR HAS COME OUT. SHE CARES!!!!!! She cares for how I'm perceived by the world, as a professional model & actor and goes the extra mile to ensure the overall end result is perfect, whether I stay in 'bed-head' all day or have an event to attend. Though I travel often now, if I can, I will happily wait on a trim just so i can still come to Kim for her expertise, her extensive knowledge and her heart. I am a personal friend of Kimberly and we have been friends for over 23 years now. We have travelled together and she and I visited Panama(my birth country) on 2016, and my Panamanian family embraced her right away. She did henna on my cousins's arms, hands and feet, and they loved her work. I, too, have received many professional services from her (hair cuts, color, make-up and eye brows) and Kimberly is excellent at her work. She is professional, honest, courteous and passionate about her work. Not only has she done my eye brows, cut and colored my hair, but she was also my preferred sales person when she worked at the Express clothing store; she always made me feel special. What I admire the most about her is her passion for the beauty industry . Kimberly has a distinct way to make others feel beautiful, and she is always looking for ways to improve her techniques. I always trust that she will tell me truth about what's best for me (personally and professionally). In fact, I am waiting for her to come to town to do my hair, as she always colors my hair to perfection. However, before I end this review on Kimberly's Excellent service, I would like to make a comment on Ms. Jessica Alonso's review on her limited interaction with Kimberly and the Social Lights Salon. First and foremost, I think it's very unfair and disrespectful to attack a hardworking person like Kimberly. She is an HONEST person, not a racist. I have been a client of Kim Kodali for 12 years now . And I can say with absolute certainty she is the best hairstylist I've known. I am middle eastern I have dark thick eyebrows and hair and she has shaped them incredibly not to mention she's studied and learned from India which gives her a wide cultured variety of views . I have asked him plenty of times that I would love to go blonde and she has always been so brutally honest with the process and how I couldn't really achieve the goal color until probably several sessions. At the time I hated hearing that and wanted it NOW so I regrettably went to another stylist who damaged me beyond belief. The review below really upset me because I've known Kim for so long she's sweet hardworking honest and NOT RACIST!! I've been looking for a new hairstylist for awhile so I decided to take a chance with Groupon to see who was out there. I don't trust many people with my hair so first off, I read through customer's reviews. Kim's reviews were solid and she exceed every good word that'd been said about her AND my expectations. Right away she made me feel as if I'd been a client of hers for years. She listened to my concerns about highlighting (previous bad experience), what I wanted done, and then did exactly what I would've done had I been able to do it myself. She is a unique person with an interesting and broad background. She stands by her products and took the time to educate me on them and their quality as well. She has never been there. As the owner I have never met her in person or spoken with her. Look at all of the reviews from my happy clients who actually visited my salon and who know me personally. If I ran my salon the way Jessica mentioned, I would not still be in business and I would not be BBB Accredited. My clientele is very socially diverse. I have clients from all over the world including Hispanics. I have never said anything about race, Hispanics or Mexicans to Jessica or her sister. Kim is about the best hair stylist I've been to! My now fiance brought me in for my first haircut with her about 4 months ago and left my hair feeling and looking the best I've felt it. So much so that I didn't trust anyone with cutting my hair while I was gone for school for 4 months after getting it cut with her, even when I really needed it. But waiting was worth it! She is very knowledgeable in hair products and helped me with what would be best for my dry scalp but yet greasy hair as well as which dry shampoo is best and I saw the difference. Now I got my first Malibu treatment with her and my hair is so silky and shiny I love it. I went to see Kim K a couple days ago to start the awkward process of going from black to blonde hair. Ah! Scary I know. I was feeling very uneasy about the fact that I was going to trust a complete stranger to do this long process to my already damaged and neglected hair. However.... I got so lucky with this woman! She is amazing and I wouldn't trust anyone more than her to have her be the person with this task. Kim has been doing my hair for years (haircuts, regular highlights and balayage), has done hair and makeup for my wedding and my wedding party, as well as my brother's now wife for their wedding too. She is very responsive, will give guidance for what is best for your hair and skin tone and has never been wrong with me! Kim takes care of her customers as if they've all been friends for life... and real friends and experienced hair dressers will tell you when something isn't right for you. Kim was absolutely fantastic! She is truly an artist. I have curly hair and like most, are very particular on who and what products go in my tress. Kim knew exactly what I needed. Kim is a miracle worker! My whole life I had struggled with dandruff and she has healed my scalp with her top of the line products at a great price. Who needs hair- Kim does henna!?! I think I have been in a hair salon twice in the past 17 years. I started shaving my head at the age of thirty after dealing with Alopecia for over twenty years. I met Kim a few weeks ago and we talked about doing henna on my head. I was very excited and booked an appointment. I saw Kim a couple weeks ago for a loooong overdue cut and color, and loved what she did for my fine hair. For me, the real quality of a new cut is best visible a few washes after, when the locks sort of settle into their day-to-day look. Here we are, 2 weeks out, and I'm still in love! Kim is an absolute delight to work, and has taught me so much about my hair! I have naturally thick hair that loves to be dry and frizzy, but with her help she's turning me into a mermaid.
