How could you go wrong at that price? For those who may not be familiar with threading, you eye brows are plucked through the use of thread wrapped the threader's fingers. Some folks prefer it to eyebrow waxing because it less painful and the eyebrows are pulled from the root. Today, I decided to get my eyebrows threaded, which took less than 5 minutes. The cost was $11.00. In Washington state, threading shops were prevalent. They were virtually on every corner of the city and very inexpensive as well. My threader did a good job. I booked my first-ever blowout as a way to treat myself after a few stressful weeks at work. I had…read morerecently cut my hair to a length I'm still getting used to styling, so I was really looking forward to being pampered and learning a few style tips in the process. I booked online and even added the deep conditioning treatment and head massage because I wanted the full experience. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of my expectations. When I arrived, there was no greeting or welcome, just someone eventually looking up to check me in. The waiting benches were also surprisingly uncomfortable, with the window ledges digging into my back. Once I was taken back, there was almost no communication. No "Is this your first time here?", no explanation of the process, no confirmation of the services I'd booked, and not even a quick check that the water temperature was comfortable. I also wasn't turned toward the mirror during the service, so I couldn't even see what was being done. The salon was unusually quiet overall, with very little interaction between stylists and clients, which made the atmosphere feel a bit impersonal. To make matters worse, my stylist realized only at checkout that she had forgotten to perform both of the add-on services I had paid for. She did issue me a credit after speaking with her manager, but since I had booked those services specifically for that visit, a future credit didn't really make up for the missed experience. The blowout itself was perfectly fine, but that's only part of why people book appointments like this. Most people can dry their own hair at home; the value is in feeling cared for, relaxed, and a little spoiled. I walked in excited for a special treat after a difficult few weeks and walked out feeling more disappointed than refreshed.
