About a decade ago, I came to this business (different location before) upon a friend's recommendation for wedding gown alterations...since the first in-mall tailor I went to was inexperienced & had attempted to hem my gown anyway, doing a poor job & costing me $150, recommending that I go elsewhere to tailor the bustier on it. Let me tell you, at the first appointment, the seamstress at this business immediately knew what was done wrong, and where the work on the dress should've been done to hem properly judging by the weight of the fabric & the intricate beading design. She also knew how to salvage the gown & adjust it accordingly, I trusted her enough to also alter another evening gown I had planned to wear on my wedding. Amazingly her work was so precise, that I only required that appointment & the subsequent fitting for the gowns to look exactly as desired and fitting like it was made for you. Fast forward till today & service is still the same, but now with a larger dressing space & seating room... they'll soon be moving to the west end soon! Price depends on the amount of work needed, but for what you end up with, it's worth it...so save or budget for it! I always recommend brides who ask me where to get their alterations to go to Debbie's & all have been pleased with the end results. They don't even need to advertise; their work speaks volumes & so do the referrals from their happy customers.

They only take appointments but it's very easy to book one. I managed to get my alterations done in plenty of time by the wedding with no rush, and it only took two appointments. The first appointment was for trying on the dress and getting the initial measurements for the alterations, the second appointment was for trying on the dress after the alterations and seeing if everything was good. Sometimes they will book a third appointment if further alterations need to be done. Looking back, it may not have hurt for me to book the third appointment, as the bust was a little off during my wedding day, but no big deal. Overall the alterations turned out well, my dress was handled professionally and the ladies there make you feel like a princess. In terms of costs, I think it's relatively comparable to similar places. In the end it cost me just over $400 for hem alterations (shortening the train), bust alterations and shortening the straps. The cost will depend on how much work you need done on your dress. I think my alterations were about average, not a lot but could have been less. The tailor saw right away what was wrong with the zipper and had a plan in place how to fix the problem. He indicated that the zipper needed to be stronger, wider and of a better quality. He suggested having a much better single zipper and for the zipper to not extend to the bottom of the parka. I readily agreed with him that this would be a perfect plan. Fabric would be put in place at the bottom. It also already had snaps. I brought it in on Tuesday and it was ready on Friday. I was ever so very happy with my parka and truly wonderful new zipper (YKK - great quality)!!! It works perfectly now and I have no difficulties with it! Anyway, I've never had a problem here whatsoever. They aren't all warm and fuzzy, but I'm paying for competence, not smiles, and competent they assuredly are. They got out decade old blood stains out of a ball hockey jersey and have an average turnaround of 2-3 days, even during the holidays and wedding season. I can't recommend them enough. When we move, we will most certainly still be taking our clothes in here for dry cleaning and alterations.

Their shop was 27 degrees and I was dripping sweat in the dress. At points I just wanted to cry. They also had one visit where they told me not to gain any more weight. When she arrived, no work had been done and they asked her to come back later. I went in myself today. They were measuring things unevenly and told them tricks to do it right (that Allan taught me). When I asked if they would guarantee the date THEY gave me, they agreed that it would be done despite the issue with my wife's order. Just as I was about leave the parking lot they came running to my out to my car saying they were unsure if they could meet their own timeliness. They returned my clothes and recommended I go elsewhere. Which I did. Over 15 yrs and they are willing to lose a loyal customer. I was very satisfied with the service and always said I wanted my pants to be touching the floor without shoes on....every time! I don't know her name but i went in enough that she recognized me. I had taken in a pair of black linen pants and went through the whole scenario of trying them on, have them touch the floor without shoes and then I just picked them up a few days later. I didn't try them on right away because I've never had a problem. I took them with me on a trip a couple of weeks later. When I put them on, they were a solid inch and a half too short. I can't wear them. I took them back in to see if maybe she could let the hem down but it didn't look like enough fabric was left. She said 3/4 of an inch was all she could do But I would have to pay, Again!! I got pressed about having a receipt. I had taken another pair of pants with me that day that needed to be hemmed. I thought maybe she would even offer to do those for free for compensation, but the only solution was for me to pay for her to fix what she did wrong in the first place.
