Kingsway Tailors - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Edmonton, Alberta

Called there to get a zipper replaced on a winter jacket and said that it was going to cost $45 and would take 2 -3 days to do. That is pretty expensive. Service isn't that good at this location I saw a lot of really good reviews here for this place which is why I called them but they seem pricey and way over rated. read more

Great quick service! Happy to have found them so accommodating. Needed hemming for two pairs of pants in a hurry and she got them done in one hour. Stellar! read more

This is an excellent, tailoring. business. I have had wonderful results from their skilled, alteration service for over ten years.

Excellent service & go to place for affordable alterations. Had a dress for a wedding come from China & to say the least, it was a nightmare. Took it here, and she revamped the whole top to have it fit better. Ended up being a very expensive dress but was happy with Kingsway Tailors service. She helped the nightmare be less of one. I take all Of my alterations here; big & small! I have since taken other dresses here as well as pant suits and other bridesmaid dresses. She truly never, never disappoints. My only fear is how busy they get from all their good reviews. Sometimes why I hate giving kudos! I won't stop though when the service and people are so deserving! Thanks to her as always. She knows who she is... read more

I was referred here by Stacey from Cleo's around the corner. I needed a new dress hemmed, and I dropped it off on Monday evening. The owner marked the hem, with humour, and offered to have it ready for Thursday. Dropped by Wednesday evening as it happened I was in the mall, and the dress was ready. I was very happy with the speed of service. Tried on the dress, and it's exactly what was promised. Very satisfied. read more

Excellent service ! a staff member solved a zipper problem while i waited and for a very reasonable charge. I would definitely go back for other clothing repairs or adjustments. Thank you !! read more

I was quoted on the phone $10 for pants hemming days before I went to the shop. When I dropped off the pants, the lady charged me $12. I rated three stars because the stitch and cut on the pants turned out good and you can pick it up right away. Plus, it is located in a mall. I just think the price is quite high for hemming (I know places charging $8-10 but they are closed now due to covid) and also I was quoted and charged differently. read more

Iv been coming here for years. Iv tried other tailors but was very disapointed so Ill stay with kingsway tailors. She is very bussy So I ususlly leave my items and wait for her to call me. I apreciate her work and talent read more

I've used Kingsway Tailors a couple of times over the years to have clothes done that needed heming or adjustments. They did an excellent job. I had no complaints. The lady that helped me was swift with a measuring tape and careful with the pins, and the end result was exactly what I wanted. I brought in a pair of pants that were too big and she did a perfect job tailoring them to my body. The turn-around time was within 5 days but the actual drop-off and measurement was all-but-over in under three minutes. These ladies know how to work fast! I've had some problems with seamstresses in the past whose stitching was loose or fell out. This lady had impeccable craftsmanship and this is the place I'll go back in the future to have alterations done. The rates are very reasonable. I think I paid no more than $20 to have my dress pants done. There's also a 10% discount for new people. read more

I had a jacket with a large tear in the sleeve. The lady repaired it in an hour for $10!! Debit or cash only but who cares! It's rare to find great, fast, and cheap with a sprinkle of nice thrown in. read more

I will never go back to get any kind of work done by the lady who was arrogant towards me I took a pair of jeans hemmed she said it cost $10.00 when I went to pick up my jeans she charged me $25.00 I told her you charged me $10.00 and that's what I'm going to pay and left I get home and tried them on they were too big I called her and explained that my jeans were too big and too long she said I'll see how I can fix them she gave me the wrong ones that belonged to a man and gave him mine I never did get my jeans back worse place to go to. read more

I went to Kingsway Tailor earlier today located at Kingsway Mall as just the day before while getting into someone's car my favorite pair of jeans I wear often ripped under my left thigh area. So as I had a few others that needed hemming as the length was too long, I decided to finally get them hemmed too. I forgot to mention (as on the website it says to mention this for a first time customer and the woman who waited on me didn't ask either) that I was a 1st time customer, so for 4 pairs of jeans, I paid $57.69 TOTAL, up front before she was done repairing them, as it is customary it seems. On my receipt it shows that for 'Jeans Hem' she charges $9.98, and the ripped pair cost me $25.00 So I don't know compared to other tailors whether most people will feel she charges too much or not. There was a an Asian woman/couple who I used to go to near me on 107th Avenue called King's Tailor in the past which also requires you to pay the amount up front (in cash as they do NOT have a debit machine so you need to go to the nearby Quickimart a bit further down the street to use their ATM machine) but the last time I was there I didn't care for the woman's demeanour, making me feel like I was too fat with her comments, so I boycotted the store, and right now their business has been closed for the past month- they seem to go to their native China for 2 months I've noticed every year, so I couldn't have gone there anyway. So I decided to switch to someone else. She had me try on one pair of jeans in a small change room so she could see how much to shorten them on the one pantleg, by standing on this wooden, raised structure. Then I changed back to the pair I had on. I find this woman pleasant enough, although I wouldn't say she's noticeably cheery or friendlier than most people in business. She reminds me a LOT of the character 'Eva' in the old 1981 movie 'Ghost Story' that I have, or at least her face does. She asked me when I wanted them ready (to be picked up) and I told her 'preferably today' and that I could go eat at the food court and whatever while I wait, which is what I did. She gave ma time of 6pm, but upon noticing through her mirror that shows her sitting in a back room and I could tell she was still working on patching up my ripped jeans I went and sat down on a nearby bench for an extra ten minutes. Then she was done. I wanted to see how she patched up the jeans, which she showed me she had done on the inside of them (I grew up in the days where there were those old oval shaped denim looking patches that women used on the outside of their clothes!) But her method is WAY better, and modern. She told me that she uses thread to match that on the clothing, and looking at my jeans once I got home, she clearly did. : ) You're able to pay by debit or cash there, which is convenient.I find her service to be excellent quality. I saw a couple of beautiful sequined dresses hanging there so she has to be very good to be doing clothing like that. To find them, Kingsway Tailor is located on the main floor of the mall, Entrance #2 on the EAST side, located beside a hobby store that's on the left, and I believe a nail salon on the right, around the corner from Addition Elle and SEARS. read more

I dropped off a couple of pairs of jeans on a Thursday and they were returned on a Sunday. Best job I have had for repairs on my jeans. They are like new all over again. Great people to deal with. read more

My girlfriend went in with some curtains, wanted 4 inches taken off. She was charged $79, and when she came home to put them up, they were clearly not hemmed the four inches requested. We measured, and there was only 2 inches taken off. Thinking it might have just been a mistake, she promptly called to see what could be done. She was accused of lying, told that they wouldn't do anything to fix the curtains and told that if she wanted them the be hemmed to the requested 4 inches, she'd have to pay an additional charge of $79. Incredibly unprofessional, would not recommend ever using this business. Your money is better off supporting a company that will stand by their work. read more

As other reviewers point out, these ladies are fast. I have only used them to hem pants. Usually they will do it "while you wait" which is usually about an hour (just enough time to pop in to get a manicure or pedicure at the salon a few doors down). When I wanted a pair of pants cropped, they suggested putting on a cuff. There was no extra charge and the pants looked great! Highly recommended! Note, they are in the entrance just south of Sears (Entrance #2 I believe). read more

I've given this place three chances and they've blown them all. Twice they weren't done on time ... hadn't even started actually, and once the work was terrible. When I say they weren't done, I mean after having several days to get the work done. Both times it would be '15 minutes' ... which was an hour both times. They've lost a customer, and I made sure they knew it. read more

They gave me $ back!! Very impressed with the honesty and integrity of these people. I went there to repair a rip in a winter coat, a repair for a burn mark in a leather jacket, a rip in the crotch of a pair of jeans as well as a tear in the same jeans, and a fitting/hem for a brand new pair of Mexx pants. I'm white btw and have absolutely no affiliation with these people. They were very friendly, nice, and quick. After an assessment and charge of about $85 for everything she told me it would be ready in 2 days For all the work that needed to be done, I was very happy with this price for all these repairs. Paid that moment. I came back after 3 days, gave her the ticket, and about a minute later she hands me $10 cash! She said she was sorry about something and may have charged me too much for one of the jackets or something. Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?????????? I couldn't freakin believe it! I don't know about you but that's never happened to me before. When I inspected all the work I was so impressed. I honestly couldn't tell where they fixed what and where. Everything looked uniform and new. Very nice work. The jeans were done exactly as I asked. And hemming done well. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place read more

This was the biggest mistake ever! Got my daughters 600 dollar grad dress hemmed here and it came back with the liner 5 inches shorter than the Thule on top. Looks ridiculous! I asked them to save the extra material for me gave them a bag even and they ripped me off of it pretending that they lost it. Scam artists! So angry read more

Fantastic. I had 5 pairs of jeans with various issues. Pockets ripped, tears in the groin, etc. I went to another tailor first and they wanted to charge a fortune for the first pair and then looked at the pair with ripped pockets made a frowny face and said this is really hard to work with I don't even know what to charge you. At that point I walked out. I went to Kingsway and they said no problem to every single pair. Total cost for all 5 was extremely reasonable and they did a fantastic job. After this experience I wouldn't go anywhere else! 5 Stars without a doubt. read more

(Initial bad experience first, second better experience at the end) Awful. Do not go here, if you can find a closer tailor and are not desperate. Took my item in on a Monday, and was told it would be ready by Thursday at the latest. I came to get it the next Monday, 2-3 business days after the deadline, and was told it "wasn't ready" and I would need to come back Tuesday. Meanwhile, the man in front of me was told his much larger item would be ready the following day. The woman was extremely rude to me, and tried to upsell me on other alterations I did not want. I said I only wanted the alteration I came in for, and she kept pestering me to get more. When I stood my ground, she was curt with me and borderline rude. They also were not swift in getting to their customers. I stood for a few minutes outside after changing into the item I wanted fitted, while they watched me from the backroom but ignored me, talking the entire time. They did this to a few other customers while I waited. Wouldn't go back. It cost me 27$ to get a simple thing taken in a couple inches at the waist. EDIT: I have since gone back to attempt them again out of desperation of convenience, and the woman was much better. She even did an extra alteration for free. I either caught her on a bad day, or she realized her mistake, how she overcharged me, and tried to make it up for me. The garments fit perfectly. I would advise anyone to try this location and see for yourself how it goes. read more

I used to go here all the time and found in general they did a good job. However, they must have hired some new people(?)... I took two pairs of pants there and they ruined them. Don't ask me why but I took 5 more after that. I guess because they had been OK before that, I thought that maybe the bad experience was just a fluke and wouldn't happen again. They wrecked every pair of pants. All of them were hemmed too short and on the pairs I asked for the 'original hem' they sewed them on as separate pieces so you could actually see where it was cut and reattached vs begin smooth and looking like one piece. I wish I could post a picture on here... Do NOT go here unless you want your stuff wrecked. read more

I went in for the first time to get a pair of pants hemmed. I had never been to a tailor before and was unfamiliar with the process. First, once I got to their counter it took a while for someone to even acknowledge that I was there as they sit behind a mostly closed "Employees only" door, and do not have a bell on their desk. Once a woman did come out she was not very nice or helpful. I had to stumble along the process, and she made me feel pretty ignorant for not knowing. They did honour a 10% discount that they offer to first time customers as per their website which was nice (debit/cash only). The cost of the hem was very reasonable - however I found that you had to initate and ask about the "while you wait" service. The woman working had just listed my order down as a next day pick up, until I asked for the "while you wait" service, and then she asked if it was "required". If this service is offered on their website and on their counter, I thought it was silly that I had to be the one to initiate it. The hem looks good and was placed where I want. I may come back here, if desperate for a tailor. The workmanship was good and the price was great, but I felt like a burden that the employee had to deal with. read more

I brought some stuff in to get altered. The lady said that it would be done Sunday. I can the following Tuesday and she said it still was not ready for pickup. She was working on it right then and there. Due to this I will not be returning. My valuable and limited time has now been wasted. read more

I have never had a worse customer service experience in my life. I took a hand made bridesmaid dress here to get a zipper put in and when I got it back there was still yellow tailor chalk all along the back. That should not be there in the first place. I called and asked how I should remove it and they said soap and water, which did not work. This chalk completely stained the back of my dress and when I brought it back to show them the issue they brought in the fabric around the zipper after I had to ask them to do something, and when I got it back after that it was still yellow and she implied it's my own problem now. Refusing to wash it themselves, I took it to the dry cleaners who were appalled by the lack of competence of this tailor. I would discourage anyone who asks not to go here. What a complete waste of money and time. read more

I went to hem $200.00 dollar pair of jeans and I asked for a 29 1/2 inch inside seam. When I went home they looked short, so I measured them and they cut them to a 27 1/2 inch in seam. They are great for hemming pants, but don't bring in any jobs requiring significant work. Patching a hole in your jeans? Lazy. I had to ask her to fix it. Asked her to take up the sleeve in a jacket and move the buttons up? I was told it would be done, and while the sleeve was shortened, the buttons weren't moved. The sleeve looked ridiculous. Asked her to take in a jacket at the waist, and it puckered at the back, and the owner acted like I should have known. Like I said, great for hemming pants, but that's about it. read more
