Chicken parm lacked sauce and the fettuccine Alfredo was drowned in pepper. Not even fettuccine pasta rather linguini. They must have gotten a special on linguini through Amazon. We would like to share with you a warning on this restaurant. It's a ripoff. Our entire takeout order was wrong this evening. There was little Alfredo on the $16 dollar pasta the bruschetta was jarred pesto with some Parmesan flakes. No oil. No basil. No tomatoes. The chicken parmigiana also lacked marinara. Decided to get a pizza to go from Vero Amore, Dove Mountain. The restaurant is located off of Dove Mountain and Tangerine Rd. There is inside and patio dining. The staff there is awesome! There are many different Italian dishes to choose from. I also noticed that Vero Amore had cold beer, wine, and a bar. As I was waiting, I spoke with Caleb, who was making my pizza. I guarantee, I was able to watch him from kneading the dough, to putting the fresh toppings on the pizza,and finally placing the pizza in the oven. We go there for take out pizza. Really tasty, interesting topping combinations make for a not-your-typical-pizzeria taste. So I'd give 5 stars for the pizza but only barely 3 for the take out service. Good thing their pizza's good, because we've never come away from there with an order done correctly. (Last time, they aborted us one of two pizzas saying, oh, we must have given it to another order (?!), and we had to wait for them to prepare the second pizza while the first was getting cold. Other times they've gotten which toppings we ordered wrong. Like I said though, when fresh and hot, it's darn good pizza. Try the Capricciosa style pizza. (When we've ventured to try their entrees, they are too basic and nothing special.) read more

Wow. What a disappointment of the 3 pizzas we got last night for $50. They weren't ready until 1/2 hour after we had called and scheduled them for pickup. It appears they had missed the phone order. The bottom of the crusts were burnt. The toppings were so minimal and just not good at all. We are rarely dissatisfied enough to write a review...maybe they just had an off night or a careless employee. While my husband waited the 1/2 hour in the restaurant after they were supposed to be ready, no employee said anything to him while he sat at the bar and waited. I used to come here all the time and the food and service was always top notch. I brought my boyfriend in several months ago and we sat outside. The side patio was full and we were seated on the front patio area and basically forgotten about. We finally ordered and after our food was delivered our server never came back (we wanted to ask for cheese/peppers but never got a chance and our drinks were never refilled). I literally wrote on the bill "you forgot about us" but didn't complain and left a normal tip, hoping it was just an off night. The cheese bread and pasta dishes we ordered were fine otherwise. I finally convinced my boyfriend to give it another chance recently. We were greeted and seated by the same person who had been our previous server (and turns out she was again our server). Again seated alone in the front patio. Again forgotten. We ordered beverages and I set a timer; it was more than 10 mins for her to bring our water and sodas and take our order. I told her (politely but with disappointment) that we had the same issue last time we were there and she cut me off and insisted she would get our orders in immediately. She did and the eggplant parm and pizza arrived in a reasonable time but she never came back to check on us for way too long and we went without salt/pepper that we wanted to request. Pizza was dry and disappointing. The eggplant was ok. Very sad to see how the service has declined. The food wasn't as good as before (portions and quality) but I assume every restaurant is struggling and try to give the benefit of doubt. We came by last week by our recommendation of our hotel which we enjoyed our dinner. Very low key and local place but thought was great and just what we were in the mood for. We sat outside on their patio and had apps and entrees which we all enjoyed. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. The food (pizza & mussels with a foamy adult beverage) was great. I live a few hundred yards north of the restaurant and usually go there when my facility offers "Pizza). Vero Amore is much better. We have a new chef so the gap may narrow. Somehow I doubt corporate budgets will compete against Ver Amore. I'm trying to talk them into one or more seafood pizzas. Yes, it's not equal to The Keg or Jonathan's Cork when Jonathan still owned it. But for two guys whose average age is 57 (I'm 80) who spent hours moving from one apartment to another, we did well. What a joke!!! Moved from Denver to Marana and just arrived tonight. This was one of the only non-fast food restaurants that delivered, and Yelp gave it 4 stars, so I gave it a try. Spent $100 on 3 entrees and one appetizer, I couldn't be more disappointed. What a waste of money! After waiting over an hour the food arrived COLD with tiny portions and little to no taste. The muscles are sitting in water, not a white wine garlic sauce. The spinach that comes with the eggplant parm is literally a few wilted leaves. The eggplant parmesan is overcooked, burnt edges, hard, no way it was made fresh. That dish cost $20! The shrimp pasta dish cost $23(!!) has only a FIVE shrimp. What a joke. I used Vero Amore to cater a coed baby shower I had for 30 people. They did a fantastic job! The crust on the chicken parm was light and crunchy, the meatballs were AWESOME, the salad was crisp and fresh. Don't let the full name fool you. The name only says pizza but they have much more than that! This is a full Italian restaurant with not only pizza, but delicious appetizers, a lot of drink options, rich pasta dishes and many desserts! Our meal was perfect from start to finish. We were able to just make it right before Happy Hour ended (between 2-6 pm) and they honored the HH pricing for our drinks and appetizer. We each had a Strawberry Sangria and shared a bruschetta appetizer. The bruschetta was phenomenal...nice crusty bread with melted blue cheese and parmesan on top and large chunks of tomato. So good! For my main dish I ordered the Mediterranean Pasta and my boyfriend ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo. Both pastas were so flavorful and very cheesy which was fantastic. For dessert we ordered the cannoli to-go. I was a little disappointed that they were mini cannoli and not full sized but they still tasted delicious.
