A friend of mine recommended this restaurant and my wife and I decided to check it out. It's located in a strip mall, and there was plenty of parking available. The restaurant had an outdoor patio, ample dining area insides, a nice bar area, and another area with seating and a stage for live music. We sat at the bar. Gaspar was bartending and he was a good host. They have Happy Hour specials. She had a Cucumber-Rita and I had a beer. Her drink was pretty good. I had a sampler platter, and she had enchiladas. The food did not take long to arrive, and it came out fresh and hot. Very lively atmosphere. The bar is well stocked, and plenty of types of tequilas available. Wow, Today we were longing for the Mexican lasagna, one of our all-time favorites. We were seated in the bar and served by Palo, and it was the worst server EVER!!!! It took our food 1 hour to get to the table...why? Our drinks and salsa were so slow to refill. I never received my credit card with my receipt??!!! I called in the evening (6:15) to ask to talk to the MOD and the female who answered the phone told me the manager was too busy to come to the phone...WHAT!?? Going to Amigos is ALWAYS a good time. The people who work here are the best, most friendly people whether you are there in the afternoon for lunch or in the evenings for a drink with dinner. The food is absolutely delicious. We love the chalupas and sampler platters. The drinks are also amazing and reasonably priced. The go to of our group tends to be the sangria swirl, but the cucumber margarita with the tajin rim is my FAVORITE! The vibes here are so fun in the evenings. My last visit was prior to the renovation, so this was a really good choice for my birthday lunch! We were greeted enthusiastically and our water and tea were served quickly with our salsa and chips. Amigos Restaurant great customer service with just ok food. My husband and I ventured over to Amigos after church Sunday looking for some great Tex-Mes eats. However, we left abit disappointed. The staff was great! Everyone was friendly and generous with their greetings, and our waiter was prompt and attentive. My husband had the Egg Burrito which he described as ok. I had the Ribeye Stew described as; 10oz Ribeye cut meat served in mixed spicy Serrano and mole sauce with rice and beans topped with queso fresco and sliced avocado. Which it was exactly that, MINUS the meat and the stew part. The sauce was salty and the 10 ounces of Ribeye meat was more like 10 pieces of Ribeye meat, which is daunting considering the $18 price tag that came with the total of 8 ounces of "stew". Honestly, it would have been better to have served a 8oz Bone-in Ribeye Steak topped with Serrano/Mole sauce, Queso Fresco and sliced Avocado served with rice and beans, for $18! None the less, I am someone who will visit an establishment that has Great customer service and ok food. (That's just my personal feelings and I'm sticking to it)! I usually never write Yelp reviews but this place was deserving of one! The staff were super fun and friendly - the door was opened for us when we walked in and that immediately felt good. The waiters weren't bothersome and made us feel comfortable. We sat in the back toward the stage and as the night progressed there was fun live music! The one thing I will say is that it was a little too loud, but we were sitting close. The food was in big plates and tasted great. Between my wife and I we shared the beef / cheese enchiladas as well as the beef fajitas and really did enjoy everything! For those who are Mexican food purists (I'm looking at you, all my fellow SoCal peeps), this is not overtly authentic Mexican food. That being said, it is quite delicious for Tex Mex, and I award major points for their white queso! I'd say the queso is well above Gloria's queso, but not quite at Torchy's level. All in all, if you're looking for Tex Mex in Richardson, Amigos has got the hookup! And if you're looking for a drink, I personally found their iced margarita to be much more satisfying than their frozen, and quite good at that.
