Small "The #1" Pizza with anchovies. A classic!
Mike G.

I had seen a few posts on one of the Irondequoit Facebook pages praising Amico's Pizza. I had never tried them, though I have driven by them a few times since moving to Irondequoit in July. I was having a party a few weeks ago, and wanted to order a sheet pizza and some wings. So I thought it would be a good opportunity to try Amico's. I called in the order, and the delivery arrived in what seemed like less than 30 minutes. The pizza and wings were piping hot, and smelled amazing! Everyone at the party raved about the pizza. The crust was the perfect thickness, with just the right amount of not-too-sweet tomato sauce, cheese and pepperoni. The outside crust was crisp and flavorful. The wings were cooked perfectly as well, crisp, and sauced just right. Halloween night, I placed an order for myself, a small #1 pizza with Anchovies, and a small order of Garlic Parmesan wings. Once again, I was thoroughly impressed with the Pizza. Super quick delivery. Crisp, flavorful crust, just the right amount of sauce and Pecorino Romano cheese, and great anchovies. The wings were full of garlic flavor, and crisp. Overall, I highly recommend them! Especially the #1 pizza. It's like a basic, old-fashioned style pie, and is delicious without all the extras! This is my new favorite go-to pizza place!

Sheet pizza. Surprisingly thin crust which I liked!

My friend ordered a sheet pizza from Amico's for her birthday. It was 1/2 just cheese, 1/2 pepperoni and Italian sausage. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of sheet pizzas because I don't care for the super thick crust... this sheet pizza on the other hand, was thin like a normal pizza which I liked it a lot. The toppings weren't heavily applied, which might be a negative for some people but again, I hate when there are too many toppings and they slide off your slice as you try to eat it. Likewise, the sauce was pretty light... almost nonexistent. It wasn't terrible but caused the pizza to be a little bland. Regardless, I had 3 pieces so it was still really good.

From my first experience to this most current experience at Amico's it was literally like night and day. This time the pizza was amazing!! Perfectly cooked, fresh ingredients and delicious!!! I was told when the older" gentleman is there who either owns or runs the place is there the pizzas come out perfect and way better then if he's not- well l guess they were right because he was there and the pizza was delicious!!!!!

I decided to order Amico's after reading some reviews - I was not disappointed! Easy to order and good prices. The delivery was quick and both items were still nice and warm!! The delivery driver was very conscientious with the contact free drop off. The fried mushrooms were AMAZING. What a yummy surprise. The pizza was also delicious.

My mom and I moved to Irondequoit in the late 70's, and Amico's (At Waring road) has long been a favorite.

Our server was very attentive and offered great seasonal recommendations. *Squash Salad: a seasonal dish that perfectly captured the feeling of autumn, served in a hot cast iron skillet. The squash was sweet, garlicky, and buttery, topped with smoky breadcrumbs. The blistered tomatoes paired well with the balsamic glaze, adding sweetness and juiciness to each bite. *La Pina Loca: perfect mix of salty, sweet, and spicy. The pork was rendered beautifully, creating a savory oil that blended well with the pineapple. The jalapenos added mild heat, and the hot honey was subtle. The crust was thin with a good char on the bottom. If I lived closer, I would come here all the time. It is unfortunate that the squash salad is only a seasonal item because my group kept talking about how much we craved it afterward. The beverage menu was a bit limited, so I hope to see more beers on tap or additional mixed drinks in the future.

We were quoted about a 40-minute wait for a table, but told bar seating might open up sooner (around 30 minutes). They took my number and we stepped outside to take a walk around the block while we waited. We ended up getting a text about the bar seat availability in about 15 minutes. Once we got seated at the bar, things turned around quickly. The space has a really cozy, intimate vibe with dim lighting, warm atmosphere and overall it feels thoughtfully put together. We ordered hot toddies to drink, which were perfect for the weather, and for food we got the Japanese sweet potatoes and the cavolo nero pesto. Both dishes were incredibly delicious - flavorful and well-balanced. Just be prepared for a wait (and maybe stay nearby instead of wandering off), but once you're in, it's a great experience!

It's a small space inside but it's designed well enough to manage a flow of traffic for customers and staff. We sat in the back greenhouse area. I think the least enjoyable part of our experience was how loud it was in the restaurant. Definitely not a good spot if you're trying to catch up with someone and your voice doesn't carry. I couldn't actually hear the specials the server was telling us. I want to try out Vern's again, so I may wait until there's an outdoor table or ask to sit in the second level to see if that's quieter. We tried one of their spring menu appetizer items, the Japanese sweet potatoes with kimchi ranch and dill. One bite and I was addicted, these were so so good. We then moved on to the classics for entrees -- bee sting pizza and the ragu-- and we were amazed at how good everything was! The only note we had was about the pizza, it was very soggy in the middle but still edible if you rolled it over in itself. We also had a few cocktails, and while they were somewhat small, you could tell they weren't watered down in any way. Two drinks was more than enough for me. Overall it was a great experience and we want to try it again. If you're someone who struggles to enjoy a meal out where you can't hear much, maybe wait for outdoor tables.
