My family had been going to a different pizza place in town for 17 years because they have good pizza but we finally decided to try Amici's because despite almost 2 decades of loyal patronage, the owner at he other place acts like he doesn't even know us. When we went to Amici's for the first time, the waiter was very friendly and accommodating, the owner came over and a greeted us, making us feel very welcome. They actually had a full menu with specialty pastas. I got the Squid ink linguine and it was delicious! The atmosphere is casual but it feels like a real restaurant. The service was friendly and fast. I'm definitely coming back here for sit down dinners and will be ordering take out pizzas from here too. read more

Wonderful lunch with family and friends in Maywood. Food portion size is larger than expected and a delicious selection. BYOB. There was a party in the other side and they too looked like they were having a fabulous time. Staff is so friendly and attentive and we were greeted by the owner with a smile. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!! Food from here is usually delicious yet tonight the pizza was extremely soggy and undercooked. We Sent the pizza back after 1 slice was eaten and was told by the owner that they could not take the pizza off the bill yet the pizza was taken off the table and then thrown out. Started ordering delivery from here a year ago. Decided it was the best pizza in the area;and ordered many times since. But yesterday, the pizza was obviously different. Different cheese (and very little of it), different sauce (and much less of it) and different dough. I called the restaurant and spoke to the owner who insisted it was the same as always! BS. We order the Nonnas pizza along with the fried calamari. This was the second time we had the Nonnas and its one of the best pizza we have eaten in a very long. The calamari was outstanding nice and tender. If you haven't eaten their food you're missing out. read more

Just had an amazing dinner at home. Ordered a few things because we had to stay home (my wife broke her leg), they said about an hour on a Saturday at 6:30pm and to our surprise it got here in 25 minutes. The squid ink pasta dish was awesome. Everything was fresh and delicious. The calamari was tender and tasty, and that's hard to get to go. They somehow made a pork cutlet taste as good as veal. The inside of this place is decorated nicely and is also very warm. However the food is not good. The water tasted like sink water so I had to put ice in an empty glass and wait for it to melt. The bread that came with the meal was way too salty to the point where I could not eat it. I ordered pasta with butter and it was one of those plates that has a bowl inside of it. First time going here and it isn't worth the price. The pizza slices were very crispy to the point the crust was very hard. The fried calamari's for 15+ dollars is a joke. It wasn't cooked well and most of it was little baby squid heads instead of the circle squid meat part. (Sorry I don't know if I'm describing it correctly). Two slices, one order of calamari and one dessert was $32 and the food was not good. Ridiculous. I got robbed. Had lunch at Amici's in Maywood, NJ on Sunday February 5, 2023. Wow! Outstanding food, ambience and service. It was so nice to see the owner Rosie who I have not seen in about 40 years. It made my day. We played street hockey together as young teenagers for a team called the North Stars and I believe we were on the same line. Our third time here, and tonight was such a disappointment. Service was non-existent and rushed. First off, we never got the salad that came with our meal. Our waitress also never came to check how everything was. To top it off I was still drinking my wine when she put napkins in my glass and just took it away. Completely unnecessary. I'm thinking the business may have changed hands again. The last few years they have been excellent. However, online ordered for pickup yesterday and it was a stressful experience. My wife picked the order, the order was late, then they thought half our order got sent out with a delivery driver, then somehow they found it, then the other half of the order was completed and placed on top of oven as she patiently waited for 10mins before asking if that was the rest of our order, she described the environment as "chaotic and comical". Albeit it was Friday night, typically a busy one. But but taking over hour to get 1 entree and 1 calzone is had to justify. Food wise, the recipe for the calzones must of changed, it was mediocre at best. The chicken entree my wife order was reportedly tasty. None the less, going to think twice before going back. Sad to think we may have lost a pizzeria we often frequented. read more

We went for a bite out and found this restaurant in Maywood. The pizza was amazing. They have a more formal dining area and a casual dining section where you see the pizza being made. The pizza was excellent. Thin crust just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Very good. The owner came out and went to each table to talk to the guests. The service was very good. Decided to try a wood burning pizza from here since it's right around the corner. The person taking my order was clueless and I had to repeat my phone number, order and card number several times. I ordered the Toscana pizza right off the menu and they had no idea what it was. Apparently the person making the pizza didn't either. There was barely any sausage on it and only one basil leaf. The description should read garnished with sausage and basil because that's not a sausage and basil pizza. The pizza was ok and the two desserts were forgettable. This review is to only help a business owner and it's workers. When bravely opening a Italian Restaurant in Bergen county keep in mind you have to separate yourself from everyone else in some way. I'll point out... ......Paninis are marked , not pressed and flattened or toasted. Pay attention when you get a call for an order. It's important people feel special that you actually listened to them. Again, they can go anywhere to get a kick in the balls. Original Pizza is good , not great but good. Haven't had specialty pies yet. Pasta is fresh and that's huge. Forgot my pie when delivered , so that's a kick in the plums. Very disappointing after hearing so many positive things about this place. I work for the Cancer Center in Hackensack and many of my coworkers rave about this place. So I finally decided to try it. I ordered the lasagna. Delivery was super fast, no more than 30 minutes. The delivery driver was friendly. I was hungry and excited to eat my food. I dove into the first bite only to discover my food was cold. Not even Luke warm or room temperature, but COLD. The more I ate towards the center the colder it was....(FYI, it was 70 degrees today) I personally don't like microwaving food, unless there are leftovers the following day. It tasted good and I enjoyed their sauce but it would have been much better if it were hot/warm. Also the side salad that comes with it had mostly browned Lettuce, 1 giant onion, and 1 olive.... Maybe they had an off day but this first impression was awful. I had stopped in on a Friday for a lunch with my coworkers and ordered the stuff shells. They were simply amazing. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food!! Service was good, atmosphere was quite pleasant. Everyone was jovial and attentive. I enjoyed it so much I mentioned it to my family. We ended up getting lunch. My father who is very extremely picky absolutely loved it. He expressed how the salad was fresh and they took the time to chop the lettuce and not use huge leafs that can be off putting.
