We went for a bite out and found this restaurant in Maywood. The pizza was amazing. They have a more formal dining area and a casual dining section where you see the pizza being made. The pizza was excellent. Thin crust just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Very good. The owner came out and went to each table to talk to the guests. The service was very good. Our third time here, and tonight was such a disappointment. Service was non-existent and rushed. First off, we never got the salad that came with our meal. First time going here and it isn't worth the price. The pizza slices were very crispy to the point the crust was very hard. The fried calamari's for 15+ dollars is a joke. It wasn't cooked well and most of it was little baby squid heads instead of the circle squid meat part. (Sorry I don't know if I'm describing it correctly). Two slices, one order of calamari and one dessert was $32 and the food was not good. Ridiculous. I got robbed. Amici's is probably my favorite pizza in Bergen county. Fair prices, generous portions and a good environment. Can get crazy busy on the weekends at lunch time, but what do you expect? The Sicilian pizza is no joke, it's a lot of food so best be prepared to share. read more

I'm thinking the business may have changed hands again. The last few years they have been excellent. However, online ordered for pickup yesterday and it was a stressful experience. My wife picked the order, the order was late, then they thought half our order got sent out with a delivery driver, then somehow they found it, then the other half of the order was completed and placed on top of oven as she patiently waited for 10mins before asking if that was the rest of our order, she described the environment as "chaotic and comical". Albeit it was Friday night, typically a busy one. But but taking over hour to get 1 entree and 1 calzone is had to justify. Food wise, the recipe for the calzones must of changed, it was mediocre at best. The chicken entree my wife order was reportedly tasty. None the less, going to think twice before going back. Sad to think we may have lost a pizzeria we often frequented. read more

Decided to try a wood burning pizza from here since it's right around the corner. The person taking my order was clueless and I had to repeat my phone number, order and card number several times. I ordered the Toscana pizza right off the menu and they had no idea what it was. Apparently the person making the pizza didn't either. There was barely any sausage on it and only one basil leaf. The description should read garnished with sausage and basil because that's not a sausage and basil pizza. The pizza was ok and the two desserts were forgettable. This review is to only help a business owner and it's workers. When bravely opening a Italian Restaurant in Bergen county keep in mind you have to separate yourself from everyone else in some way. I'll point out... ......Paninis are marked , not pressed and flattened or toasted. Pay attention when you get a call for an order. It's important people feel special that you actually listened to them. Again, they can go anywhere to get a kick in the balls. Original Pizza is good , not great but good. Haven't had specialty pies yet. Pasta is fresh and that's huge. Forgot my pie when delivered , so that's a kick in the plums. I have only gotten pizza here to go. I have tried about four different pies and with the exception of the pasta pie they have all been great. The end two inches around the circumference of the pie has absolutely no sauce on it. As a result I always order extra sauce, and make a point of specifying it a few times on the phone when I call to place the order. The problem is that most of the time my request has been ignored. It takes me about 20 minutes to get home, so when I open the box and clearly see there is no extra sauce, I am not going to make a trip back. I did get an apology when I called, but when all is said and done, I am left with a fairly dry pizza. Skip the pasta pie ad try one of their other delicious pizzas. read more

I had stopped in on a Friday for a lunch with my coworkers and ordered the stuff shells. They were simply amazing. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food!! Service was good, atmosphere was quite pleasant. Everyone was jovial and attentive. I enjoyed it so much I mentioned it to my family. We ended up getting lunch. My father who is very extremely picky absolutely loved it. He expressed how the salad was fresh and they took the time to chop the lettuce and not use huge leafs that can be off putting. Very disappointing after hearing so many positive things about this place. I work for the Cancer Center in Hackensack and many of my coworkers rave about this place. So I finally decided to try it. I ordered the lasagna. Delivery was super fast, no more than 30 minutes. The delivery driver was friendly. I was hungry and excited to eat my food. I dove into the first bite only to discover my food was cold. Not even Luke warm or room temperature, but COLD. The more I ate towards the center the colder it was....(FYI, it was 70 degrees today) I personally don't like microwaving food, unless there are leftovers the following day. It tasted good and I enjoyed their sauce but it would have been much better if it were hot/warm. Also the side salad that comes with it had mostly browned Lettuce, 1 giant onion, and 1 olive.... Maybe they had an off day but this first impression was awful. Absolutely terrible. Delivery was 30 minutes late! Called to inquire about where my order was, and whomever answered the phone, offered very little assistance. Mozz sticks were cold (cheese was never cooked to a degree that would melt it.) I order a panini with chicken and mushrooms, panini was never pressed and if you blinked you could have missed the piece of mushroom added. Also ordered a CHEESEstake with hardly any cheese. After a break-up with our old pizza spot, my family and I spent the better part of this last year trying to find our new pizza place. We finally found it at Amici's. Their pizza is perfection! After anticipating their opening for the last few weeks, we finally tried them out last night. We got a margarita pizza, which has a delicious sauce made with San Marzano tomatoes, the primavera pizza, which was a white pizza with vegetables on top, a plain cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza. Each one was delicious in its own way. The crust was crispy on all four pizzas and held up well with the toppings. You can tell that Amici's uses quality ingredients. My son also ordered the meatballs, which I didn't taste, but he said they were great. We ordered it to pick up and my husband said they were efficient and friendly. Amici's was definitely worth the wait and, I'm happy to say, that our search for a new pizza spot is officially over! read more
