This is by far the worst restaurant that I have ever been too , I have spent many a dollar & for some reason they can not get ur oder right from a chick parm sandwich to over salted octopus , recently Sunday I ordered a chick parm dinner 26.50 I chose to do pick up as he charges 3 extra for delivery & then with a tip we are talking over 30$ this is a glorified pizzeria , Rosie the owner boy he kills you with charm , kisses & a little to friendly for us woman. Rosie you play the role very well , As my late husband would say he kisses your ass till you complain, well Sunday I did just that I got my Oder delivered no dressing for my lettuce as there is nothing else but lettuce , then my side of pasta came out dry no sauce and barely cooked Al Dante no just hard , no bread & butter as I had none and asked for it , for the price of chicken parm it was so small , so I called I told the young lady the Oder was wrong , she replied with will deliver u a new pasta that was 6:15 by 7 no delivery I called mind you Rosie gets on the phone cursed at me tell me to f... off loose their # .. happy to do do I say he curses again at me & uses other horrible curses, so I pack up all the food go there less then a mile from my home . I walk in the girl says sorry Rosie the older man & owner said no to sending u a new pasta so I reply nicely well I'd like my money back , suddenly he comes storming at me pointing his finger & saying the Ffff word at me and says I'm not giving u anything that I complain about yes I did 5 x they sent the wrong food , u think he would be grateful so he can direct his staff they got all wrong everything so yes I work hard I expect to get what I ordered , still screaming at me as ppl are in the restaurant not full but enough I show him the food he grabs it from my hand starts bashing the bag throws it all in the garbage & again curses at me tells the girl to give me my money & to never come bk .. okay I'm good with that . He turns to me & straight up tells me the reason my husband passed 6 years ago was because of me & im nothing but a washed up bitch mind you he is much older than I .. well I did leave there very upset as my husband should never of came up in this conversation no less in front of so many ppl .. while I'm walking out he is still screaming at me . Well the food is overly salted but yes it was convenient only for pizza , I have been in the business all my life to treat someone like that is like asking for no repeat customers , mind you the sweet little old man is not so sweet but very hyper & extremely uneducated to bring a man's suicide up because his lack of knowledge on how the food is coming out is clearly his fault we chk our orders . Yes the little old man has been so pleasant till I complained . On that note the disrespect he showed me was pure evil . I have told my friends and family many who I have sent there to not indulge in his crazy behavior. So if u like it great if u dare complain about it watch out the little old man does not want to hear it . I would never again step foot in there & plan on seeking counsel as we have to much racism & judgement on others my life is personal my husband wanted it personal he was very sick he choose his path who does this man Rosie think he is to slam my name in front of others pure recklessness. On my way out a family was ready to come in as they approached me they said they heard everything he said the young man said I'll go in there and put him in his place I said please don't & they turned walked me to my car & I suggested a great Italian restaurant to them . I take this personally as I pay for my meals like I said if you're looking to pay for a glorified pizzeria top dollar enjoy just ask easy on the salt . Rosie your words your character and the lack of kindness shows that u are just a very unhappy old man with no respect to others .. oh yes I have witnessed him in action . I am beyond disappointed but luckily we still have Mario's a pizza shop that will bend backwards for you & a lot better of human kindness ... read more

Let's give credit where credit is due... AMICI'S RESTAURANT is nothing short of Amazing with a capital A. And the credit goes to our friends Mike and Christine for telling us about about it. A beautiful place, this is no "glorified pizzeria." You really feel how cozy this restaurant is the moment you enter, no matter how bustling it is. This place is obviously no secret. Not a small place, both the large and small dining rooms (as well the outside dining area) were packed for an early Sunday night dinner. Seated quickly, bread and water arrived to the table in a snap. Though we were tempted by how great the wood fired pizza looked, we decided to save trying it for another night. Ordered apps and our dinners, the salads arrived. Salads done, the dinners arrived. Man, this place is the definition of a well-oiled machine. As busy as it was -- Boom, boom, boom efficient. And nothing we tasted suffered from that speed of prep in the least. The food is not only extremely fresh... It pops! Everything we had was perfectly prepared and popping with flavor. Rice balls for an appetizer were hearty and delicious. They could honestly have been our meal. And take that from someone famous amongst my FnF's for what I can put away. I could have eaten them and been totally satisfied for the rest of the night. But dinner was coming, and it would not disappoint either. My squid ink pasta was perfect. I don't know what they do to the shrimp, but those were the juiciest I have ever had. They were popping with flavor! My wife had a chicken dish that wa a a special with pasta, spinach, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. She said the sauce was described on the menu as vodka sauce, but it was different. It tasted vaguely like a vodka sauce, but had no tomatoes. It was creamy and delicious, and clinging to the perfectly al dente pasta as if they loved each other. All the time, the staff was circling... Making sure our table was clear (without being annoying about it), asking to make sure we were alright, and checking to see if there was anything else we needed. We sat in front of the kitchen, and that place was humming! Dishes and pans clanking amongst the talking and laughing were in itself an upbeat symphony. Amici's is the epitome of an upbeat place to eat. I even saw a guy arranging the food order cheques in the kitchen dancing while he was doing that. I have always believed that a team reflects the personality and character of their manager. Some people just love seeing the joy good food can bring to people's lives. It is obvious that the staff here shares in that vision, and they bask in the success of this venue when it's busy. A visit to Amici's, and YOU will fell the joy as soon as a fork touches your lips. I predict you will be back, and somewhat regularly... And that's before this NYC-born, self-proclaimed pizza snob has even tried one of their pies!!! (I get the sneaky suspicion that THAT might prompt a follow-up review all its own...) read more

Amazing flavors!! What a great experience for my mouth. The focaccia bread they served was so good (save some for dipping in sauce later on). I had the Chicken Giambotta and substituted hot cherry peppers for their regular peppers. Sooo good and a huge portions. read more

Food was delicious. Portions were large. Prices were very fair. Bread was served warm and was very good.

Amici's is THE ANSWER to "where should we go for dinner?". This is one of the best (if not #1) Italian restaurants in Maywood/Hackensack/Paramus area AND it's BYOB!!! FOOD: You'll know this was a great choice once you get the bread for the table (I could literally eat that forever and be happy). The brick oven pizzas are delicious with just the right amount of crispness and can be customized for your preference off menu. We had the Chicken Bacon Ranch with Honey drizzle YUM! The pastas are al dente and generously portioned. We had Penne a la Vodka and Rigatoni Bolognese along with the freshest seafood Zuppa de Pesce. My absolute fave and go to dish (not pictured) is Mama's Sunday Gravy. The Caprese Salad is mouthwatering with tomatoes that seem freshly garden picked and homemade mozzarella . SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE: The service is genuine, attentive and thoughtful. Ndeye our server is the absolute BEST! She is on it and makes sure to make you feel at home, that you are not left waiting and that all meals are served together, hot and in unison. Chef and owner even makes the time to touch EVERY table! The restaurant is a fun and despite how full it can get it - super clean and kept. There is also outdoor seating. The wait time, if any, is usually about 25-30 minutes but SOOOO WORTH IT!!! Psssst!....they also deliver! read more

This place reminds me of late 90s early 2000 Italian restaurants where you can have a nice delicious meal big portions, prompt service and not break the bank. I absolutely hate going to places that don't have a bar but this place is an exception. Also you don't see the owner the place checking on his guest making sure they had a great time anymore - this spot is 5 stars in my book I also have to give credit to their take-out person for accommodating my requests for making my panini extra pressed or an adding or removing an ingredient from an item - always doing it with a smile read more

Great Italian food/pizza at reasonable prices BYOB

Recommended as having great pizza and they definitely do; there's two different styles, wood oven and regular and the wood oven pizza is legit. We ordered the fried seafood appetizer and it was hot crispy and fantastic. All the pasta dishes we've tried have also been really great. This is an Italian gem in Maywood, highly recommended. read more

Whether dine in delivery or pick up, you will not ever be disappointed with Amici's. The Nona's pizza is the best thin crust pizza in all of New Jersey and there. Entrées are also excellent, especially the sausage, broccoli rabe and orechetti, and penne Siciliana. The chicken giambotta is incredible as well. read more

Call it's been a while since I was here, so I returned again. Everything is made fresh. You won't be disappointed!

The food was good. I gave it 3 stars mainly because they rush you. I realize it's a very popular place. But I do not like being rush. My husband and I were there with another couple. Everything was rushed. They wanted to take your plate away before you were done. And at $200 for what we had ordered it was $$$$. I don't mine paying for a good meal. But don't rush me. And it wasn't worth $200 especially when it's a byob. read more

Inflation or not, this is not right. It's a rip off to charge customers $15 for one tentacle and to think this was a sharing appetizer. My husband and I had to slice this piece in half and we didn't even get equal portions. Might as well just take it off the menu if the restaurant cannot turn this into a profit. Sad to say, we love supporting local restaurants but if my local restaurant rips their locals off, We won't be going there anymore. read more

Amici's Restaurant - Grilled octopus $15.00 - Pizza Near Me - Maywood, New Jersey

Wish it were negative five the owner is a vulgar miserable rude person. He cursed with the F word at my wife for saying the pizza was burnt crispy after she specifically requested it to not be well done. Rosario the owner blurted out obscenities practically insulting her and the threw them in the garbage in front of her. When she came back and told me what happened with the waitress as a witness I then went over and calmy said to him I didn't appreciate the way he cursed at my wife and he said to me " I don't give a fuck . I'm sick of people complaining" well maybe you should stop making mistakes then. This was the most horrible experience dining I have ever had. As a customer to be spoken to to in such a violent manner by the OWNER of the establishment. Just totally unbelievable. I will never go there again and will continue to stress what an aweful place this is read more

The Margherita pizza is delicious and my sister ordered a shrimp scampi that was actually probably the best shrimp scampi I've ever come across very well seasoned and flavorful. I cannot stand a bland scampi but this was far from it. I must say I have ordered a Sicilian pie and I was not a fan. Pasta fagioli also always hits the spot as well. The service is good. One man in particular I've seen quite a few times and he's always very friendly and attentive but I haven't gotten his name. Family friendly and tasty food. read more

We found by accident but quickly recognized the quaintness and curb appeal. The food was as authentic as we imagined it would be. Your waiter, Wilmer, was very attentive as were the rest but, my wife speaks Spanish also and so they hit it off. Overall it was a great experience and one that we sorely needed after a long trip from California. read more

Ownership, ownership, ownership this place has it Rosario and his stunning wife get 10 stars. He circulated throughout the dining area greeting and thanking every customer. His wife pulled up on her bike. She came in and genuinely thanked and acknowledged every member of their staff, even saw her dancing with the dishwashers. They are my kind of people. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and delicious Italian food. Wish them all the best!! read more

I can't believe there aren't more reviews for this place. It has become our go-to, last-second place to go. Due to my diet restrictions, they'll make the Shrimp Beeps no salt, no spice and the sauce is just out of this world and shrimp perfect EVERY time. I was never an Alfredo fan but their Tagliatelle with shrimp and mushrooms is amazing!! A little "heavy" for me so i take it home, get at least 3 meals out of it and sometimes mix with other dishes. WHAT A SAUCE! I used to love the Oceana wood burning pizza (white, with shrimp and he lets me substitute broccoli instead of artichokes) but the dough is the same as their DELICIOUS BREAD which is salty and i have to hold back. My friend lovesssss their Chicken Cacciatore. The salad that comes with the entrees with the balsamic dressing is great. Service friendly. Food always comes out steaming hot. Rosario, the owner, circulates and thanks everybody. read more

Simply the best!! Fresh and delicious all the time. Gotta try their Burrata and their seafood dish, mouth watering.

Had dinner at Amici's on a rainy Monday night. We got there about 5:30 and was seated right away. 1/2 hour later the place was filled and there was a wait. We started with the fried calamari and the portion was generous. The appetizer included both rings and tentacles, they were crispy and tasty. We also shared the Neapolitan Pizza that's baked in their wood burning oven but the pizza was more of a hybrid than traditional Neapolitan. The pizza was good though. We also ordered the eggplant parmigiana and Pork Parmigiana. I preferred the Eggplant over the Pork. The food was good for your local Italian American restaurant read more

Amici's Restaurant - Mama Sunday gravy - Pizza Near Me - Maywood, New Jersey

Food was very good once we were served. It took an hour and 1/2 to finally get our dinners. The waitress was super nice but the owner was rude when we complained. WOW! Four of us ate here last night and it was excellent! I am from Texas and, yes, I am always astonished how good the pizza is here but Amici's topped off my stay here last night! It was so good that I kept eating even tho' it was so hot that I kept gasping and fanning my mouth. (It was probably a funny sight, but it was sooo good!) And it was a gluten-free pizza. Being gluten-free is never fun and you never get great pizza but Amici's was the exception to the rule! Two of the folks in our party were Italian and they raved over Mama's Sunday Gravy and their portions were huge. Service was excellent and they even had outside seating. It is not pretentious, nor fancy. It IS excellent. Best adjective: YUM!! read more

I went here for an early dinner with my family on a weekend. We had our order taken quickly and appetizers came out fast which was nice. We dealt with 2-3 waiters/ waitresses, which I found odd but didn't mind. They were all nice. The ambiance was casual and nice. The bread was delicious . Calamari and caprese were also very good. Family each ordered individual pizzas which they said were good , not necessarily amazing. I ordered the "Mamas Sunday Gravy". Meat sauce with pasta, meatballs and braciole. Well it looked beautiful. The pasta was good, meatballs were pretty good as well. The problem: the braciole was undercooked and raw inside. After taking one bite I noticed it. As we were eating dinner the restaurant got much busier. It took sometime for the waitress to come back us. Meaning , so much time that we were all done . I only ate a little pasta and the meatballs. I told two different waitresses that the braciole was raw and that the chef should Know that as well, and also asked for the check. I was shocked they left my meal On the check. Now I should have asked for a manager and questioned this. But If two different waitress / waiters didn't realize to notify a manager or take it off the bill that's a problem. I also had young kids who were getting restless. Totally disappointed. If the waitress would have came by to check on us while we were eating, maybe it could have been addressed earlier. If they took it off the bill , I probably would give it it 2-3 stars since it would have been addressed. Not the case. read more

It's been a while since I've written a review but it has been hard to find the right local pizzeria/restaurant since moving to Maywood (over 2 years ago). There was a lot of hype coming up to the opening but we were not let down. Ordered 3 times so far. Not only pizza, which is very good, but also had salad, wraps, and entrée. You can tell everything is freshly made. I feel like there is something different to order each time and will keep trying them. Looks like they might be expanding because it can be a little tight to get to the counter for pick up. Decided to get delivery last time and it came really fast. So far, so good! Congratulations Amici's! read more

One of the best Italian Restaurants in North Jersey ! Have been there four times over the last two months and have never been disappointed. I'm extremely picky when it comes to sauce and find a lot of Italian restaurants sauces unpalatable, made with cheap tomatoes and sugar to compensate. You won't find that here ! Good food starts with good ingredients and the sauces here start with high end Italian tomatoes and or top end California Stanislaus tomatoes which makes all the difference. Delicious ! The owner Rosario comes around from time to time to great the patrons, likable enough guy who feels like family or someone you grew up with in New York or New Jersey. But better yet the owner is in the kitchen, it make a difference in the quality of food produced. I have seen restaurants start out good but once the families out of the kitchen it's all down hill. So bottom line a lot of pride goes into what presented at the table. The service and staff are friendly and attentive although wait lines can get long. Very comfortable space with the option for out door seating. The food starts with a warm house made salted rosemary bread which is fantastic. Last night started off with shrimp beeps which were really good, the spicy sauce was on point and our daughter lopped up the sauce with the bread. She followed up on her usual penne with vodka which was good. I split the grilled seafood dish with my wife. Octopus, Calamari and shrimp over broccoli rabe , grape tomatoes and potatoes. Really good and garlicy . We usually start with an appetizer or pizza and split a pasta dish as the portions are large. The margarita pizza is delicious also. We also have had on past visits broccoli rabe and sausage, squid ink linguini and pappardelle with mushrooms , all really good. We also had the fried calamari which was good but I prefer a lighter batter. Nothing wrong with it as my wife liked if, Just my preference. The cost is more then reasonable for the quality and sizes of portions. Great for dinner and lots of great lunch options. Looking forward to coming again, looking for the oreganato with polenta special ! read more

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE IS AMAZING & 10/10 must go! The service is amazing! My fave pizza is from this place!

We went to amici's yesterday, I've been dying to try their Nonna pie,I had heard a lot about it. So we ordered one with extra basil, and I have to tell you best Nonna pie I have ever had in my life. My husband and I shared that, then we also shared a regular slice which was out of this world. And a Sicilian slice which was so light and airy. I think we are contemplating going again today, to try some of their entrees. It's so hard for me to get past Pizza, but I'm sure his entrees are going to be outstanding. Go out and support this place, he will not be disappointed. read more

Great pizza, even better people. It's like a family every time I go there. They are attentive, professional, and they always seem to be having fun.
