I was in Madison to work on a commercial and we where trying to find a bite to eat the first night we got in. A bit late at 10:30pm We called and they were closing, but ended up staying open for us to get a bite. It was just great small town hospitality. The chef/owner came out with our pizza and chatted with us for a few mins while his staff was closing up and putting the chairs on the counters! This place is a definite stop in this town! Terrible customer service, took 10 mins to get acknowledged, never once came back to ask if we would like a refill. The restaurant was not that busy, staff just walking around. Ask for silverware and was told they don't use silverware by a black front counter kid, when in 2 mins started rolling silverware. Never once saw a manager. Food was nothing tomwrite home about. Husband had chicken param, very bland. I just had the spinach dip they ran out of bread. Which i ask for. read more

New location is very nice but service is still mediocre. Summary: we were seated at a very dirty table which was never wiped during our visit (and by dirty I mean crumbs and many food pieces, not just sticky). The table behind us spilled a drink and one of them left and came back with paper towels staff gave them...really: no one ever came to help sop up the large spill, another table asked if they could borrow condiments from our table, that's when I noticed that no other table around us (maybe a dozen) had any condiments. I'm sitting in this restaurant (Amici's) at 9:19 pm on a Sunday night. - it's a local restaurant of mine. Enjoying a pizza that I ordered around 8:20 pm. At 9 pm, this restaurant dialed up the television(s) volume to the extent that it's overwhelming. Hell, I'm old and I'm deaf but this is ridiculous. I will never eat here again (I heat every meal out) and I will warn every person who asks me (I work in a local business) away from this place. It'a a disgrace. read more

I want to love Amici, I really liked their old location and their pizza is really good by Madison standards. But, their service is terrible! I keep waiting for it to improve but it does not. Even the "managers" laugh about how slow the kitchen is. Last time I was there, sitting at the bar, waited 45 minutes for a salad and a slice. Finally, when I inquired as to the status of my order, was told salad was ready but slice was not. I think this was code for " whoops, forgot to put in the order". Gentleman sitting on the corner was told his slice would be out in two minutes, took twenty. I would voice concerns, but, all I ever see are 16 year old girls gathered around the hostess station too busy to greet anyone. Great building, usually good pizza, but, service sucks. The owners put a lot of money into the building, is it just a money laundering operation? It feels that way as the service gets worse and worse. read more

I live in Madison and occasionally think I would like to go to Amici for their Auhi Tuna Flat Bread, which is generally very good. Today I went on my lunch hour. Got there at 11:45am, not too crowded, thought I could get in and out. Did not get our food until 12:30pm, mine was cold. Then could not get a waiter to bring a check. So slow and seemingly not concerned that this is the case. I am not going back. read more

Came in to Amici's for lunch. When we, my mother and I, arrived at 2:00, the restaurant was not busy. We were seated right away and there was lots of open tables. Waitress took our drink/food order, and at 2:45 we had to ask that they check on our food as she had not come by to check on us since bringing our drink orders. Waitress told us that one meal was complete and that we were waiting for the other meal to finish in the oven. One of the managers came to see us about our food and apologized that our order had been overlooked; a different version of what we were told by the waitress. Props to the manager for trying to salvage our experience; a tried to leave a no star rating, but Yelp wouldn't allow me to post a terrible review from this patron otherwise. read more

A friend brought us here & tbh after reading the reviews there's no way I would've come if he hadn't. I expected the worst, but was pleased. It's a small place, but cute. The food was good & the service was prompt and friendly. We had the hummus as an appetizer & it was good, the flatbread was seasoned & toasted and there was plenty of hummus in the bowl. I had the Margherita pizza, hubby had the Greek calzone & our friend had the honey mustard chicken sandwich "old school" (not sure what that meant, but he swears it's his fave). The food is delicious and made from scratch this is a good place to go have a relaxed meal when you have time. The service is friendly. Do not go here if you are in a big hurry, allow time for slower paced service and food preparation to order. We were passing through and stopped for lunch with a family member. Haven't even gotten our food yet, and already have had the Worst. Service. Ever. I understand the staff here is young, and obviously don't give a shit about their jobs or the customers, but at some point you think they might at least appear to give a shit. But no, not today. We sat ourselves, was 4 minutes before we were acknowledged or brought water. Mind you, there was only 1 other table inside, and they were finished and just visiting. Outside, there are 2 tables, with a total of 3 guests. After getting our water, was another 8 minutes before server came to take our order. Still no napkins or silverware. 5 minutes after ordering, server brought salad on her way by, but no silverware. I had to get up and ask the other server, who's job must be to stand idly by the soda machine, for some silverware. She literally came over and dropped them on our table without saying a word. I've since eaten my shitty salad, wrote this review, and still no food. I will never eat at an Amici again. The service here demonstrates a commitment to fail that I'm sure starts at the top and trickles down. Madison deserves better than this. Note- just got our "food". My wife ordered the Cobb salad. Server brings it "we put ranch on it because I forgot to ask" No seriously, not making that up. We get the dressing situation rectified, and time to dig in. Fork is filthy. Nasty filthy. Mind you I had to get up and fill our waters myself, so asked her if she had any clean silverware, she gives us two more sets, but no apology. Food was shit, but I didn't expect any different, was just very hungry. Now, you can't knock a shit place for shit food. They are what they are. It was my first time at the new location in Madison. I know they just opened up,but the service & food was a disappointment. Our pizza was runny and not cooked & the staff/host were unprofessional and they definitely need more training in customer service. After spending 4 years in Athens and eating Amici at least a couple of times a month, I was excited to have the opportunity to eat at Amici in Madison, but I was SO disappointed. Evidently they have done a huge menu re-vamp that translates into waiting over an hour for food. I was excited about getting Buffalo Chicken GarCheeMar (Garlic Cheese Marinara) Bread, and was I ever disappointed! Not only did we wait for over an hour, but when I got my food it wasn't even the same thing that they used to serve. Don't waste your time going to this Amici if you liked the one in Athens! I'm not sure whether the menu in Athens has changed. As of last fall, it had not, but if it has, go ahead and avoid it too. read more

Amici's Cafe is one of those rare finds in a small town that you don't always expect to find. We were passing through Madison, GA and the desk clerk at the hotel where we were staying recommended it. The small restaurant in the historic district was packed with diners. but we only waited 10-15 minutes for the hostess to seat us. We ordered The Works pizza and a 12-pack of the honey hots wings. Delicious! They had a wide variety of bottled beer and I enjoyed the Sweetwater Brewing Co Georgia Brown Ale. We will definitely be back the next time we go to Madison. read more

Great little neighborhood pizza place on the adorable little square in Madison, GA. While the service was at times spotty, they were covering a lot of tables and it was all good. The food was good, excellent King Caesar, which is a standard Caesar meets Greek salad. The desserts were really something and great mini cannoli's. It's been our favorite stop and tradition on our travels - going through the temptations of Athens, always to get to Madison's Amici. There was one main reason: their fried artichoke hearts. Apparently, I was the only one, because they have chosen to remove these from their menu. So, our tradition is over. And the menu is just basic. We tried to give the calamari a try in lieu of our disappointment, and while it's decent and comes with the lemon aioli sauce, expect a lot more banana peppers disguised as calamari, than the actual meat itself. They had some serious leaks going on, a rough bathroom and just lost its luster as our comfy place with those signature fried artichokes. I'm going to miss it. read more

Amici used to be our go-to for Italian. As of lately, the place isn't worth visiting. Had dinner tonight for the first time in 6 months. We waited over an hour for our food. All of us had side salads to eat before our entree. Salads and entrees came out together. One member of our group had ordered a chicken pasta, and it was served with no Chicken. He had to wait an additional 15 minutes just for three slices of chicken. Service was very slow, refills were rare, and the staff was loudly goofing around in the back while we were waiting for food. Until amici standards are back to what they used to be, we will not be back. read more
